Brannen's Possible Staff

I'm saying 700k with incentives. Top 25 classes. Top 100 players. Tell him he gets paid to perform at high level. 500k with incentives and house should seal deal. Alabama can pay 700k easy so we have give him something if feels as challenge

I don't know what the incentive pool is but I know there are some for Brannen and I would guess likely some bonuses for assistants as well. Sweet 16, Elite 8, Final 4 etc. Perhaps conference championships etc.

I would guess base salary is the selling point with all of those other things being not guaranteed. If Bama wants him that bad they would bump his salary more than they have

Since we're talking about $$$ for coaches, did Mick have a buyout in his contract that UCLA had to pay UC in order to poach him? I couldn't find anything online -- if you search "Mick Cronin buyout", everything is about Jamie Dixon's buyout lol

I'm pretty sure he has nice big house and cars for him and wife with Alabama contract. We go have make it seem like challenge for him

Yes they paid us. Not for sure exactly the amount but it should be enough up our assistants pay

Our assistant pay pool has already been negotiated in the contract I think. It would be hard for Brannen to "up" that right now.

I doubt Alabama was only paying 280k. They pay football recruits more than that. I smell backdoor money if that his true salary

I think Mick got 2 cars

I am sure there are alternate ways of getting paid. But all of that is likely laid out in print. The salary pool, the incentive pool, the moving expenses pool etc. I don't know how the contracts are constructed but it's probably not likely Brannen can game the system too much.

Hey...I offered the guy 5 Lamborghini's!! What's the big deal?

Lol. Yeah I don't know for sure but I don't believe allowances are in base salary. Some coaches get condo and house for families

Football and basketball at Alabama are apples and oranges.

Of course but that still doesn't take away fact they have more money to throw around than us. Their football team almost get 100mil in nfl contracts every year alone. Pretty sure basketball get some crumbs off football plate

Just because someone is an assistant in the NBA does not mean they are a better coach than assistant in college. NBA is a different game (no zones etc.). It would be a down grade in terms of money, not in Xs & Os, recruiting, work ethic, camaraderie etc.

For the record, NBA has been allowing zone defense since 2001. The only illegal defense now is the three-seconds in the paint rule, which can sometimes lead teams to avoid the zone.

You know the more I think about it, Pettway seems to be in a very similar spot to Mick Cronin. Recognized recruiter and good coach...but only at the same school. I guess the difference is Pettway has done it under different coaches, but still at the same school. The mick left for Louisville and then got a shot as a head coach.

I would think Pettway has the same decision to be made here. Stay at Bama as an assistant and hope for your shot. Head to Cincy under a guy you are familiar with and have a shot to jump start your head coaching career if you have success.

Guess it depends on what Pettway wants for his career and which he thinks give him the best option to get there. But in coaching, staying put rarely seems to help you jump ahead as fast as those on the move.

If Brannen can lure Pettway that would be the biggest win of the offseason for UC. He is currently rated as the number one recruiter in the nation per 247 sports...Our administration needs to get extremely aggressive with hiring Pettway.

Be shocked if this happens. He will get paid.

Yea. He has to lure someone away.

If he literally just brings over his staff from NKU, we might as well just change our name to NKU.

We need one strong recruiter. But luring anyone away from the P5 is going to be insanely hard
