Sportswriters have put Butch name in stories about UCLA and UNC. A sportswriter throwing your name out does not really make you a candidate.

Ken Broo said Butch Jones to UCLA on his radio show this morning. Do you pay attention at all to The world around you?

As much as I'd hate to say this. UC is a stepping stone to big time college football. It's going to be hard to keep a good coach around here. Whether this is true or not about UCLA, if Butch succeeds here its only a matter of time. Fans don't want to admit that

What is the point in worrying about it now when there is a game still to be played? It is out of our control so until there is a reason to talk about it, I don't see the point.

Just because Ken Broo says something doesn't make it so. Also, why did you capitalize "The" above? You pay attention to "the world around you" but not your grammar?

You know, the grass isn't always greener. Ask BK about that. If he doesn't get to a BCS game soon, he will be fired.

No need to tell me. I'm not the one in position to receive hundreds of thousands more to coach

I think Butch is smart enough to know that this is the best opportunity to improve his own resume as a coach. Unless Penn State comes calling (very unlikely) I think we are safe in this coaching carousel.

This has to be a joke. I'm sure BK has never looked back. He is in a far, far better position. He will be at ND for a long time.

He is in a better position but will not be at ND for a long time. At least I do not believe so. His time there has been filled with controversy and finding ways to lose.

He is a damn good coach. If he doesn't get a better QB he is in trouble. Tommy Rees/Andrew Hendrix is not the answer.

I feel that Butch like Cincy and is in no rush to leave. We will see though.

I agree with this.

Butch's "destination" jobs would probably be Penn State, Michigan, maybe Ohio State and Notre Dame. He has all his ties in the Midwest so those would probably be the jobs he'd leave for in a heart beat. These second tier jobs probably just aren't for him, we shall see however.

Is UC Dan Enos destination job?

Per source in Ohio State athletic department UC is being proactive and called Ohio State asking permission to talk to Luke Fickell should Butch take Illinois job.

This may have some truth. Fickell has been asked to come back to OSU as either the DC or in another role. Some are saying Fickell has already been offered the D coordinator position and some are saying it is still up in the air, maybe Mike Stoops. Even if Luke gets the DC at OSU would be interesting to see if he takes a HC somewhere else

not for long

I think he might stay, but only to be able to get offered a better job. say he makes bcs game wins again next year hell be offered a better gig than ucla or illinois
