Jeff, I'm sure I'm one of the few you're directing this at. I can't remember if I predicted NIT or not, but this season has far exceeded my expectations, even if I thought an NCAA was possible or not. Mick is well-deserving of coach of the year consideration this season. I actually believe his coaching 2 seasons ago after the X brawl was even better. I obviously did not like his performance last season. In any sport, the buck always stops at the top. On this site, it's always some other reason than the coach when we lose. I love the program. I love the team. And, I like the coach. I love a lot about the coach, but his recruiting and lack of developing any offense since he's been here keep me from being overly excited at this point. But, his defensive coaching skills, his ability to get players to compete and play hard, his intensity, his graduation of players, the neat story of his relationship with his daughter, his loyalty to our program, etc. provide me enough great positives to think that the negatives will soon become positives as well.
We played as bad yesterday as I've seen us play all year. But, I haven't heard a single person suggest that the coach didn't have us ready to play. Again, he recruited these players who can't shoot, so he deserves some blame when they fail. But, from the other viewpoint, he has coached this group who can't shoot straight to the top 10 and a chance to win the league championship, even though we were predicted to finish 4th. What an amazing, amazing accomplishment that has been. If he starts getting some better recruits, and can continue to inspire the effort level that he gets out of players, we will soar. I'm behind him, but when I see things I don't like, I speak my mind.
