It's called other team's making adjustments just like I said they would.. we are a terrible offensive team.. get ready to lose to memphis too. It's hard to watch them on offense and rubbles with a ball in his hand you got to be kidding... we will end up in the 5 12 match up and hopefully not be 1 and done disgusted Bearcat fan here

The sky is not falling. It will be okay.

This is why winning that Louisville game was so crucial. Now we are going into senior night in a must-win game.

I respect the hell out of this team for how hard they play but teams like UConn and Louisville that know us so well can lock us up. Maybe playing a team that isn't as familiar with UC in the NCAA tournament will help.

B_NTS I think it has a whole lot to do with guys simply not being assertive. It kills me when guys drive and nobody fills a lane for a possible dish off or nobody makes back cuts when the ball goes to the high post. Lack of aggression on offense kills this team.

I have watched UC play every game. The crux of the season is upon us and every opponent is playing like there's no tomorrow. Lots of people on this thread want to blame a certain player or two or all except SK, lack of offense, etc, but when all is analyzed (and I'm no expert), the only common trait for every game is Cronin "micro-coaches" - to coin a word. He's pounding the sideline constantly screaming to the players what to do. At this point in time, play should be mostly automatic. Maybe an occasional coaching reminder is OK, but not the constant coaching. Watch Coach K, or Boeheim. They're sitting on the bench the majority of the time. If they need to get some special instructions to their team, they call a TO. Cronin is yelling and pacing for virtually 20 minutes a half. The players, especially whoever is bringing the ball upcourt, are always looking over to the bench. Tell me that is not distracting, not an impediment to a smooth game flow. I promise you micro-managing is not effective in real life any more than micro-coaching is in NCAA play. Maybe in the beginning of the season it's a necessity, but, obviously, it's not working now. Cronin gets so spun up, that he's an obstacle to his players succeeding instead of a positive influence. Let the kids play as you coached them in practice. Sub out players as necessary. At this point in time, if they don't know what to do (except maybe in special situations where a TO is warranted), then we have not progressed.
Go Cats!

you couldn't be more wrong.

We payed two good teams and lost close games. Check out the results of other top 25 teams. Lots of them are getting beat. We are fine. Need to beat the Tigers and Rugters. Still think Louisville loses to SMU.

I am somewhat concerned that UC hasn't had success in the second meeting with SMU, UConn and Louisville. It seems like a second time around, defenses can easily figure out how to beat our offense. I think part of the problem, the guys aren't paying attention to detail. To me that shows a lack of game planning focus, I think the team is looking ahead to the NCAA tournament.

I still think this team can get to the Sweet 16. It is very difficult to simulate our defense for a team that hasn't seen us. I would gladly take a share of the conference title by beating Memphis and Rutgers. Then we can take our chances in Memphis for the AAC tourney. I'd love to see a rematch with Louisville for the title. These are the "dog days" of college basketball. Hungry teams are winning, the '10-'11 and '11-'12 teams were very hungry to get into the NCAA tournament which is why they played so amazingly down the stretch. Look at Xavier, who has gotten two big wins with their backs against the walls...

Completely agree. I think they got overconfident once they beat everyone in the conference. I think to them they showed they were tops in the league and were ready for the tourney. While I can't completely blame them because as fans we kind of were in that boat as well, in reality the season is not over and the conference is definitely not won. I also think all the role players are a little too comfortable with SK turning his game up. While I'm obviously ecstatic that SK is playing like a first team All American the rest of the team doesn't seem hungry to me. I almost would like this team to practice two days with SK sitting out just to get out of the habit of deferring to him. The second part of your statement I agree with as well. The Cats made their statement already. They are a lock for the tournament. Yeah there's still something to play for, but there's no do or die fight to be had. It's no coincidence that all the top teams are struggling right now and the bubble teams are coming up big right now. Hopefully we have enough fight in us to win Thursday and Saturday and win at least a share of the conference. That will be a major accomplishment for Cronin and the team and for the future. The conference tourney to me isn't as important as alot of people treat it. It would be great to win it but in the grand scheme of things your regular season champ is the best team in the league. Now if we end up in a tie with Louisville I would love to get a chance to beat them in the tourney final.

My biggest frustration with this team, especially after watching the rest of the games today is how little our PGs contribute. I dont understand how they never get to the basket. Its not even that they cant its just that they dont even seem to try.

Today's game was abysmal yet somehow the Cats still remained in the game and had a chance at the end to escape with a win.

A lot of people talking about the need for a 3rd scorer and while that would be nice I don't think it's a make or break for this team. Kilpatrick is good enough that all we really need is a second option. When this team gives the ball to Killa then stands around and waits for him to do something that's when we look bad, like we did today. If this team can score in the 60's we're very tough to beat.

What has been our achilles heel the last two games and what could be our demise in the tourney is our lack of ball handlers and poor passing. Turnovers cost us today's game and the LVille game.

Our defense is incredible and because of that our offense is good enough to win without a true 3rd scoring option. If this team doesnt advance to the sweet 16 it will be because of our terrible passing and sloppy ball handling.

Great observation CD. There's a group of 6 guys who sit behind me at games who were complaing about this a few weeks ago. They pointed out how much of the shot clock we waste looking over at Croin to call a play. They were saying it's like rec-league ball. He's bent over yelling constantly telling them what to do defensively as well.

Not bashing you two here but get off it. You're both really fishing for something to complain about. Its so irrelevant.

Gotta disagree - this team desperately needs a 3rd scoring option. SK is too often forced to take lousy shots because no one else is a threat. He's not a great shooter...never has been, never will be (great player, not great shooter) If he can pick his shots and moments when to drive (like when he really has a gap & doesn't force it and lose the ball due to crappy ball handling or crappy passes), then he can be a valuable weapon and a deadly scorer.

Right now, they don't really even have a 2nd scoring option - Jackson was useless against UConn, and not a whole lot better against Louisville - you can't beat anyone with only one double figure scorer....especially when that scorer has to take a zillion shots to get the points.

Against Louisville, sk was 9-26, against UConn, 4-16. In neither game was there another double digit scorer - that's pathetic.

Against UCF, we had 3 scorers with 8, 9, & 10...made things easier on sk and he was 8-16

Against Houston, we had 8,8,11, & 13...consequently sk was 9-18

Yes, we do need a 3rd scoring option, or at least a reliable strong 2nd option. Right now there isn't one.

having a few more reliable consistent options would certainly help but it all starts with taking better care of the basketball. No way can you turn the ball over like we did against good teams and win. To be honest I'm shocked we were still in the games as bad as we handled the ball.

I am somewhat concerned that people believe we beat lousiville and uconn handily the first games... we beat them both in close games and lost the 2nd games in close games. Played ugly, as we always do...but were in the games. Louisville we had a 1 point win then a 1 point loss...could have gone either way, same with uconn. They are who they are....

our ball handling has been terrible last two games. This team can not afford give away possessions. Especially the kind that lead to uncontested points.

A 3rd scorer? What about a second
