If it does happen it'll still be a terrible trade. You have to understand that what you're saying is completely preposterous. You're asking people to believe a twitter rumor that makes no sense. No one else who is actually qualified to report on these types of matters has mentioned anything related to this trade.

If you happen to be right then you must have the ear of Walt himself, and if that's the case then kudos to you. It'll still be a terrible trade. So if you do have the ear of someone important within the organization please tell them to kill this deal.

I thought it was a horrible trade at first but then thought about it and it seems it isn't that bad. Remember Phillips is declining and due 50 Mil the next 4 years. Homer is only under control for one more year. Get Kemp, move him to LF to keep his health, BHam in center. Just think of votto, kemp, bruce.

They could free up Phillips contract, get money from the Dodgers to sign Arroyo. Reds have been linked to Infante as well.

I don't like the idea of trading pitching, that is never a good thing, especially someone as good as Bailey. If he won't sign with the Reds I understand trading him for a bat. The organization must also think a lot of Stephenson and that he may be close to the majors either the end of this year or next year.

Dodgers are already working on ext with bailey, moving right along.

As I said. Within the next 24 hours the deal will have suddenly fallen apart and he'll be on twitter explaining why.

My guess it will have something to do with contract talks with Homer breaking down.

Let me ask you this why do you think we want to trade Phillips? It is to free up money to sign Choo to a 100 million dollar contract so instead of Choo Walt thought kemp can hit just as many hr and get as many RBI as Choo in gabp and the dodgers are giving us money in return to use on Infante to play 2nd base.

No, they don't want to trade Phillips to sign Choo. They want to trade Phillips to free up money so that there is money in the organization when it's time to extend Homer Bailey and Mat Latos. It's clear that you have no clue what you're talking about by your response and that you rumor is completely false.

Choo is gone, the Reds will not sign him unless he agrees to come back at a greatly discounted rate. The Reds are looking to get rid of Phillips to free up money and because ownership feels slighted by his remarks last season. Let me also be the first to say that I love BP and don't think we should trade him unless doing so will make our team better and help free up salary room.

Matt Kemp has an 8 year 160M contract and Brandon Phillips has a 5 year 72.5M contract. So you're telling me the Reds are going to swap those contracts and only accept $18M in return from the Dodgers??? Then we're going to go out and spend $35M to sign Infante???? Then what are we going to do when it's time to sign Latos to the 100M deal he'll certainly command?

What you're proposing is ridiculous, it makes no sense and the Reds won't do it. They're not going to handcuff themselves by taking on another huge contract and going out and signing another free agent.

Teams like the Reds build through their farm system, not free agency. The Reds are building through pitching like most small market teams do and hoping that their home grown talent steps up to help make it affordable. You expect people to believe that Walt is going to throw away everything he's done since he's been here on one trade?? You're outside your mind.

PS - what happens to Billy Hamilton when we get Kemp? Are we giving up on him too???? LOL

[sarcasm]

Guys don't worry about.

It's totally feasible this made it to the stage where the Dodgers and Homer are talking extension without any of the LA, Cincy, or national media getting so much as a whiff of it.

Bailey is gone he wants free agent money now that's not going to happen the REDS do not want Phillips or bailey. Hamilton will be in cf and kemp will be in lf.

Believe me, I'm not worried about it. I'm just trying to point out how stupid the idea actually is. People throw out names like Matt Kemp or David Price without stopping to think if it's realistic or not. The Reds have done a fantastic job of building a winning team in a small market. Teams like the Reds can't make moves just to make moves, they have to be strategic. That's why when you look at the restraints the Reds face because of the way the sport is set up it's really quite amazing what they've been able to do. People should be happier than they are with the Reds and still expect that they improve and reach a World Series.

Bailey is gone he wants free agent money now that's not going to happen the REDS do not want Phillips or bailey. Hamilton will be in cf and kemp will be in lf.

So the Reds are paying Ludwick 8 million to ride the pine?? Let me guess, we're working on a trade for Ludwick and Chris Heisey in return for David Price??

You're a pair of clownshoes

This deal only makes sense if Walt is secretly a Dodgers fan. Trading Kemp wouldn't even hurt that much as it's a huge area of strength and they'd still have one of the best starting OF's in baseball. Adding Bailey and Phillips would make them World Series favorites. No way Walt trades for an injury-prone player that is still in a walking boot. Kemp is overrated as a superstar. Thankfully this is just another baseless rumor.

If it were true, the LA Times would have it as a banner headline. Well, I just read today's sports page, and there's not even a rumor mentioned.

Yeah, but Bearcat boy in Amelia with his 400 twitter followers and "inside sources" has the scoop on everyone.

Everyone on twitter and the message boards wants to be a reporter. If you want to be a reporter go to college and get a journalism degree, get a shitty job at a newspaper, get paid dirt and work your way up like the rest of the real reporters do(and even then most of them suck too). Having a cell phone and a twitter handle or a message board login doesn't make you important. Get a life then get a clue.

But hey Matt Kemp dated Rihanna, if she's coming to town with him, I'm all for it!

that was sarcasm, i don't love bball.com or Chad's "scoops" because neither is a real journalist. Chad is in the same boat with the rest of these clowns.

You would be wrong, but thanks for playing. College educated with 17 years experience outside of BCJ...

Can't wait to hear from Bearcatboy if/when he makes it back to this thread...

Still don't mean he's wrong it mean people don't believe him but everyone will see.

How about we make a deal. If a trade between the Dodgers involving Bailey, Phillips, and Kemp is announced today like you have repeatedly claimed I will never post on this site again.

However if the trade does not happen today you can never post on this site again.

Deal?
