Cincinnati to switch to Under Armor?

Probably just a matter of changing economics and not much else. Our apparel sales can't figure to be trending drastically upward even by the most optimistic person.

Not claiming this means a conference move, but a yearly payout tripling can't be simply changing economics when nothing has really changed for the better the last few years.

Good boost for Cincinnati but I think it is like in pro sports when they announce some decent player is now "the highest paid player in the league" or w/e. As more contracts come up for negotiation you'll see bigger increases, IMO.

I hear you but a school's value doesn't triple in a few years when nothing has really happened. Player contracts do because the player has proven to be worth more in that short amount of time. I just don't see how they make us a top 6 paid program out of the blue.

In September, Under Armour and Maryland (Big 10) agreed to $3.3 million per year. And we get upwards of $5 million?

All I can say from this development is Mick sure has been using his off-coaching time wisely...:)

Exactly my point as well. Under Armour is trying to get their brand out so maybe they are overpaying a little to get schools, but once we're on the tail end of the contract we won't be anywhere near the top. To put things in comparison, Mike Leake is making more money this year than Johnny Cueto, that has nothing to do with the reds thinking he is a better pitcher and everything to do with the economics of the situation.

Would a move to the big 12 generate drastically more apparel sales? Our fan base is what it is.

Well first off, we do have a lot of fairweather/flaky fans. That's obvious. Look what happened after Huggs.

Second off, it's not just about the fan base. In the B12, UC gets a lot more exposure on more premier channels facing tougher opponents. More people see that UA logo.

Not saying this correlates to a conference move; just saying that yes, a move to the B12 would hugely benefit UA.

My guess the $5 million is including all the incentives. We haven't seen the official contract, so I'm weary of that number.

I'm going to wait for jacobkdoyle's Vegas over/under numbers before I call what the board will think.

Haha oh boy, that will be a tough one to handicap. I personally love Under Armour so I hope they set it pretty high.

Did anyone see this? Hahaha... I was wondering if Adidas would try their "edgy tournament jersey" publicity stunt again. If this is true it's pretty hilarious because those shorts are basically the shorts that Louisville has been wearing all season:

Yep - saw this collected a couple weeks ago. Wasn't surprised UC wasn't included but I do like how it was us that said no. I think they're awful, as is every Adidas tourney uni.

I understand we said no, probly more because we are leaving them next year. But i honestly kinda like those
