Dude, you need to check in to yoga or paint your daughters toenails or something to channel your anger. Where is the civility ?

I'm very civil. Ralph has attacked me personally on here. Just read some of the heinous things he has said about me in other threads. Because he has been wrong on nearly everything conference realignment related, he feels the need to take it out on me

You are the one who is always wrong on conference realignment, as was once again shown this week when the Big 12 meetings produced no expansion of the Big 12 beyond the current 10 members.

The Ralph as always was corect.

You are even incorrect in your spelling of correct. There's not been one thing you've been right on regarding conference realignment

I thought this was a thread about conference realignment. BearcatMick and Ralph, if you want to bicker back and forth about who is right or wrong, go start your own thread or better yet, PM back and forth. Only post on this thread if it is relevant to conference realignment. Thank you.

Or just stare in a mirror and talk to yourself....just saying

Conference realignment at the Power 5 level is all but over until after the 2025 season. The new playoff/contract bowl money has been set for 12 years, 2014 to 2025 seasons. The PAC 12, Big 10, SEC, and Big 12 are going to receive $90 million each, the ACC is going to receive $75 million. Adding members dilutes the amount to each school. The only reason to add a school is if that school raises the payout for the conference TV contract in excess of what its dilution would be. Realistically, the only school that would do that is to get Notre Dame to join your conference for football, and as everyone knows the Irish like their football independence.

Conference realignment will be mostly limited to the Gang of 5. Tulsa will join the Big East to be the 12th team with Navy the 11th. Perhaps some Sunbelt teams will join C-USA. Movement in and out of the MAC will be very limited.

Those predicting the breakup of the ACC are akin to those who were predicting the end of the world on December 21, 2012 when the Myan calendar ran out, and we all know what happened on that one.

the Maryland ordeal will be telling for the future of the ACC, and The Big 12 will likely be forced to add 2 teams for CCG purposes whether they want to or not. What could be interesting is if the ACC holds together then where does the Big 12 turn?

I Agreed with You. I've been telling Ralph the exact same thing for months and he won't believe a word of it

I get so excited when I see that the Conference Realignment Thread has new info. Did UC get an invite, did another College anounce a move, etc. Then I log on and see, "Your wrong" no "Your wrong" no "You've never been right " etc. etc. etc. :(

Honestly, I don't know how anyone can look at all the information out there and come to a conclusion that re-alignment is done.

Playoffs start in 2015
Bowl game contracts are being renegotiated
Lots of rumblings about the B12 needing a CCG
Ohio State's President coming out and saying they are actively looking at expansion targets
BCS automatic qualifiers going to 11 out of the 12 possible spots to the Big 4 conferences
The lack of a Grant of Rights by the ACC
Over 10 ACC schools inquiring other conferences about joining

I think the B1G moves first. The AAU and CIC can offer ACC schools like UVA and GT the opportunity to add nearly a billion dollars in federal research money over the 15 years remaining on the ACC’s TV contract with ESPN. Add to that the additional $100-$150 million each stands to make in under the Big 10′s current TV contract. How do you ignore that?

The ACC will hold together, the Maryland situation was a fluke, Maryland's President is a former Big 10 President, Maryland's athletic department is broke.

The Big 12 (Texas) has no interest in a conference championship game, they are thrilled with the round robin schedule and really like splitting the cash 10 ways instead of 12. The Big 12 is locked in to keeping the conference at 10 members.

Conference swithing among the Power 5 is for all intents and purposes over until the year 2025 as the money for the playoff/contract bowls is set until that year.

Huh, wherever you are getting this from is not a reliable source.

.

Yes we all know that the Big 12 wants to stay at 10 members, but it won't matter what they want when they are forced to have a CCG for BCS playoff purposes. I'm not saying mass chaos is going to happen like a lot of the dreamers out there think is going to happen, but the Big 12 is going to have to add at least 2 teams in the relatively near future. Their puppet commissioner keeps saying they are happy at 10 teams because right now they are in the appeal process with the NCAA and it hasn't been ruled on. The only conferences that will support is the ACC and NBE out of fear of getting raided but nobody else will support them hence the need to add teams.

They cannot be "forced" to have a CCG. The playoff/contract bowl deal is set in stone for the years 2014 to 2025, the deal does not require any of the Power 5 Conferences to have a CCG.

As the Big 12 Commish told the AP today:

As he has done repeatedly, Bowlsby reiterated that the league is comfortable with proceeding forward with 10 members because conference members are receiving high payouts per school and pleased with their access to the postseason.

"We are unconvinced at this point that larger is better," Bowlsby said.

Oh really, and then why is the Big 12 petitioning to the NCAA to be allowed to have a CCG at only 10 members? Maybe because they already see the writing on the wall. And no, this isn't from my "sources." This is from reading and Oklahoma newspaper.

The Big 12 will stand pat for now because they can and they have nothing to gain at this point by doing so, but once the appeal gets denied something will have to happen.

The contract for the bowl games are set that is correct, however the FORMAT for the playoffs is not. Most signs indicate that only conference champions will be eligible, and NCAA rules state you can't have a CCG at only 10 teams. Therefore they are appealing to be allowed at 10 teams, and once that is denied they will be "forced" to add two teams if they wish to take part in the playoffs.

They are petitioning to have a CCG with 10 schools because TV will pay $10 million for the game, that is $1 million more cash for each of the 10 schools. The ACC did the same when they had 11 schools and got turned down by the NCAA, expect the same answer, no, for the Big 12.

The Big 12 will have a conference champion without having a CCG, Kansas State was the Conference Champion this year, so getting in the playoff without a CCG is no problem. The conference champion thing is not going to happen anyway because that would exclude Notre Dame, no way ESPN is going to accept ND being excluded.

And if the Big 12 had a conference championship game this year and Kansas State played...say Oklahoma..they would have had a chance to jump Alabama and get into the National Championship game. So when they get denied on the request at 10 you really think they will just say "ok we will just stand pat then". So what your saying is these schools now value making money more than winning?

Ralph, the writing is on the wall. The odds are overwhelmingly in favor of expansion at this point

Brett McMurphy from ESPN:

B1G is the key. If they stay at 14, others won't expand. If B1G adds 2, then SEC adds 2 and then B12 also grows

Meanwhile, sources have told The Sporting News that its a matter of when, not if, the B1G expands

http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-fo...ner-conference-title-game-expansion-influence

Combine this with the fact that the OSU president has said they are "actively looking at expansion targets", I'd say there is a very good chance of a lot of stuff going down

I vote for sooner rather than later.

This conference realignment stuff is funny. You go from hoping for no realignment, to hoping for more.
