I know this is the 3rd Creighton thread, but let's keep this one strictly predictions.

I think this will be a close game for 30 minutes and one team will pull away a little down the stretch. That being said, I think it is a coin flip between the two teams on who it will be. Heart said cats, head says birds. That team looked like their old form in the MVC tournament and as promising as we appeared in Providence, the Gtown game brought me completely back down to Earth save Cash finding his stroke. I know it's getting cliche at this point, but I don't see us having any answer for McDermott. Watching him play truly makes me believe he deserves POY.

A team consists of 5 players. Do we have 5? They do, but one scorer if shut down (somewhat) leads me to think this game will be +/- 5 pts. If we dont foul, it could be us. If we foul, it will be them (and by way more than 5 if we foul a lot).
Here's the book:
Cincinnati vs. Creighton
Point Spread: Creighton -3 Over/Under 128 (March 22nd 2013)
NCAA Tournament Pick (1st Round):

I will go more with my heart on this prediction and stick to it.

Blue Jays-63
Bearcats-67

Letsssss go!! I am pumped.

Well considering I'm going to the game they better win!

uc 65
jays 60

Bearcats rise to the challenge...Creighton can't stay in front of our guards...and have difficulty with our offensive rebounding and defensive deflections.

UC 63
Creighton 61

I think UC scores the most points they've scored since the end of Dec. and wins a back and forth type game. McDermott scares me though.

I have no clue which UC team will show up.

UC is much more athletic and has a size advantage.
Creighton shoots the ball wayyyyy better.
UC struggles to score.

Only way UC wins is....
1. Creighton is bothered by UC's defense, size, and athleticism to the point it bothers their ability to score.
2. UC attacks the basket, gets easy buckets, and Cash & S K are both hitting outside shots.
3. Refs aren't calling ticky tack fouls.

All good points. I do think UC's size and athleticism will effect Creighton especially defensively. I think number 3 will likely determine the game.

Oh no! They banned your boy, BearcatMick:(

I think UC hits the 60 point mark but loses the game. Creighton is no joke and these guys are all big game and tourney tested so I don't think they're likely to get rattled by our guys.

I really hope I'm wrong, I'd love a shot at knocking off Duke.

Creighton - 68
UC - 61

I predicted a UC win thinking our two headed monster of Rubles/Jackson would shut down McDermott, but after reading the synopsis from the Creighton fan, and not knowing they were the best three point shooting team in America, I'm a little more concerned now. It will come down to us hitting shots....hoping their defense is a lot below what is the norm in the Big East, and our defense is much better than what they have seen. It will be a nail-biter, but we're pretty battle-tested and I hope that pulls us through.

I'm pretty pumped for this game. Creighton is good enough to beat the Bearcats for sure, but I think the Bearcats get it done .

UC - 65
Creighton - 62

I look at Creighton as a better version of Notre Dame, who we lost to twice. Add on top of that one of the best players in the country. I see this being a lot like the first Notre Dame game. We'll score some points because Creighton plays average at best defense (#79 defensive efficiency), but ball movement and good shooters will be too much to overcome.

If we stay on our man, we have a chance. If we start helping off on the weak side, as we did against ND, they'll probably blow us out. They have too many good shooters and passers to play a lot of help defense.

Our starting point guard, Austin Chatman, is a sophomore and a lot of question marks were surrounding him coming into this season as he replaced longtime Bluejay Antoine Young. Chatman has done extremely well this season but in the games we struggled in during February, it is my opinion that it was partly due to our guard play. Chatman is very quick but he's not quite tall in enough to drive and score consistently. Chatman handled the press well in games against Wichita State, who presses a ton. He's also got a nice outside shot. Teams tend to sag off of him though and test him.

When we have struggled this year, I believe it's because of our inability to feed the post. Sometimes our guards' passes to guys like Doug are laughable. Our 2 guard Jahenns Manigat is a turnover machine in games we struggle in because he is so unsure of himself.

Our 3 guard Grant Gibbs is extremely confident with the ball but sometimes that gets him in trouble because he believes he can dribble through anything. He's got to be one of the slowest guards in America but somehow, some way, the guy can drive and handle it well. However, this can get him in trouble on defense and he'll start fouling. Which is of course an issue because he's so valuable on offense.

Our center, Echenique, can either be the biggest force in a game you've seen all season long or he'll disappear and put up 4 points 3 boards. He can only score within 2 feet of the basket really.

Doug McDermott uses everything to his ability to score. You might think he's a flopper because he does 'sell' a lot of fouls. And he scores like nobody I've ever seen. Some of the shots we see him make are circus-like.

Our defense leaves a lot to be desired like others have mentioned. We cover the perimeter, etc., well enough but when I'm mad at our defense it's usually because of our inability to cut off drivers and let guards dribble around us like we're cones. Echenique is a great defender on the interior and Manigat can hold his own. Other than them, there's nobody that can guard above average.
