How much more does he do than anybody else. He's ok on defense its how Mick try use him on offense that killer.

You must not watch the Cats too much. Titus guards everyone 1-5 on the other teams, rebounds everything and shoots well from the FT line...

...and probably the best passer on the team and is sometimes asked to bring the ball up the court to break the other team's press and not only does he guard every position he is probably our best man-to-man defender

Watch EVERY game. EVERYBODY on our team guards 1-5 we switch EVERY screen. Not knocking him at all Mick just has him out his role on offense. Rube doesn't guard the other teams best player regardless of position so let's stop making him out to be a stopper on D.

Ive obviously been a part of the pro mick crowd on this board. The argument is so watered down at this point that it's become boring. I've decided to stop defending Mick because I dont have to anymore. What he has done speaks for itself. If you cant see it or its not up to your standards then so be it. That's your right to feel that way. However for those of us who do see it we are in good shape. The fact is, Mick is not going anywhere. He has cemented himself as "the guy" in Clifton. He has support from the majority of the fan base, boosters, board, president and AD. Mick is the coach of the Bearcats and that's not changing anytime soon and I, for one, am damn happy about that. So L-T can go back and forth on this board about anomalies and championships not had or CaptDale can rant about not putting in walk ons in February. At the end of the day Mick will still be the coach. 5 consecutive years in the top 25, 4 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, back to back years of being in the top 10, sweet 16, has recruited players that are all over the record books(Vaughn, Cash, SK) that graduate and stay out of trouble, and has done all of that with limited facilities, fractured fan base, from the depths of an NCAA death penalty while enduring 3 different athletic directors, 3 different presidents, and all major funding going to another sport. What he has accomplished is nothing short of miraculous. 90% of NCAA programs wish they could have accomplished those things over the last 5 years. Im ecstatic about where the program is and where it is going. Mostly because of the person who is in charge of it.

You take one stat that somewhat supports your point, but the fact is, he has scheduled weaker and weaker competition in the OOC to pad those win totals. I'm not going to pull all the data together to suppot my statement, but I could. I'll just summarize in words.

Improvement of players: JJ and SK both have improved dramatically this year, but that hasn't been the typical case prior to this year. Solid examples of noticeable improvement few and far between before this year.

Top 10: Extended stay in top 10 this year versus I think one occurrence for a total one week last year. None before that. Top 10 is definitely an outlier.

NBA Players: Only one and he was only here one year. This year....potentially 2 more....definitely an outlier.

Upgraded Recruits: Recruiting has been a big complaint of many people. This year's freshmen seem to be a notch or two above most of his past recruits. Next year's class is promising.

League Championships: Zero. This year....1st place now, and hopefully still 1st in 2 weeks. 1st Place anytime during the season is an outlier. Championship would also be an outlier.

League Tournament Championship: Zero. This year TBD.

High Seeds: Never. This year, potentially 2-4....outlier.

Bottom line, this season is an exception to this point...and hopefully becomes the rule in the future.

And you ignore all the good to remain on the edge of supporting this coach. We all have no illusions on where you stand. UC fan, not a Mick fan never will be and that's ok. Just stop trying to convince people he is slowly winning you over. Mick Cronin has done more than enough to deserve the support of this fan base. Those that continue to remain on the edge will always be fringe fans and give begrudging support. Fortunately by the size of the crowds most people have left that camp.

Lol.....yeah , I'm a fringe fan .....53 consecutive years of being a season ticket holding fringe fan and well over a thousand games attended, attending most league tournaments, NIT, and NCAA tournaments....in addition to many road games. If I'm just a fringe fan, what does that make you? Pretty insignificant I'd say.

By the way, attendance dropped from about 9300 per game last year to about 8,500 a game this year.

Don't forget that you're also a French model. No one ever lies on the internet.

I want more wins and better recruits like every fan does. That being said, Mick is top 5 coach in college right now. I thought his recruiting and offense would've been a bit better considering his track record but his defense and game preparation is top 5 on NBA level alone. Could you imagine Mick with 2 Sk, 2Gates, 2Stevenson, 2cashmere, 2vaughn, and 2JJ all on one team? Mick can coach his ass off just give him more money and better facilities and watch happens. He's a new age player coach, kids want to play for animated fun coaches so watch recruiting open up with him being on TV now with top 15 ranking.

great comment.

"In statistical theory, this season would represent what is called an outlier (a statistical observation that is markedly different in value from the others of the sample)."

Last 4 years:

2013-2014 - 24-4 and counting
2012-2013 - 22-19
2011-2012 - 26-11
1010-2011 - 26-9

Average wins in that time span up to this point in the season = 24.5 per season. will go over 25 wins per season before season ends.

Overall record = 98-43 = 70% win percentage over that span 3 of which were in the toughest/best basketball conference in history.

Doesn't seem like an outlier to me.

Just to be clear, we did not go 22-19 last year; I'm assuming this is a typo. We went 22-12, which means 98-36 (73%) since 2010.

Over 10,000 lately. Didn't say you were a fringe UC fan, said you weren't a Mick Cronin fan and remained on the fringe trying to convince people he was winning you over, but he never quite seems to get there. LT I've watched you post the same stuff for years. All I'm saying is it's fine if you aren't just stop pretending you may be one day. I believe you're a UC fan. And btw, I have 41 years in myself.

L-T needs to understand that when you post this, you realize that Mick is not perfect nor will he ever be perfect. I think we all can agree on that. Every coach has flaws, even coaches like John Wooden. Great coaches win consistently, develop players, and run an effective and clean program. On 2 out of the 3, there is no argument as far as Mick goes. I can see a little bit of the development of the players argument against Mick, but I would counter that he has done a helluva job turning players like SK, JJ, Rashad Bishop into good and (in SK's case) great players. I wish he would've been more successful with Yancy, Kelvin Gaines, and JD3, but every coach is going to have a few players like that. In Yancy's case, he finally got through to him that he needed to focus more and Yancy had an excellent NCAA tourney. At a certain point, it is on the players to improve. The coach can't make sure they eat right, force them to stay before and after practice, sit in their dorm and babysit them, etc.

his ability to improve a players performance will be greatly enhanced by his ability to recruit and land more talented players. As his reputation as a very good coach grows he will land better players.

Hasn't L-T specifically admitted he does not like Mick as a person? I'm pretty sure he has and if so, that's all you need to know. Regardless of how Mick performs he won't support him because he despises him (L-T being a Huggins loyalist and think Mick stabbed him in the back). So might as well stop arguing with him because Mick could win back to back national championships and L-T still won't like him.

UC wins the title this year and he'll call it an "outlier"

41 years as a season ticket holder? Outstanding Jeff. Thanks for your great support of the program!!!
