This team is not racially diverse. Are you blind? If Coach could not find a better player than what he has on the bench, then he is not doing his job. We missed out on a local kid, Elijah Pittman, with incredible skills who is now playing for Marshal. He did not even get a sniff from Coach.

Elijah Pittman is black. Great example about racial diversity.

We missed out on a local kid, Elijah Pittman (african-american), with incredible skills who is now playing for Marshal. He did not even get a sniff from Coach. There was also a 7 footer from Turpin, Will Norwell (caucasian), who was a solid center and again got 0 consideration. Not even a visit. The players are out there. Coach just does not look without blinders on.

Had to edit that one twice after some googling. Both of those kids are not high division one prospects. The schools they are playing for are proof of that. You still want diversity over skill. Weird.

You dont even know his name haha. He also went to Marshall. Not like we lost him to Ohio State. I ask one final time. Why does the team need to be racially diverse? What point does it serve? Also you still have not said one thing about him recruiting white players when I have demonstrated that he has but just didnt get them. Your argument is empty.

You have yet to state why a caucasian athlete always declines. And diversity is a cornerstone for our universities. Do we need to go back to the days of all black/white colleges? No, we do not. Diversity is the cornerstone of our nation and our colleges should reflect that. And we did not lose Pittman to Ohio St or Marshall. Coach never even approached him.

Pittman's skill level is miles above Jackson's. The 2 do not compare.

Going a little extreme there wouldnt you say? UC has plenty of diversity among students. Your lack of knowledge of how recruiting works is staggering. First of all look at the top 100 players on the ESPN top 100. Out of 100 there are 7 that are white. 7!!!! out of 100. Every major program is after those players. You dont think Mick went after some of them? Any top 100 player is not easy to get. You have to identify who you can get and go after them hard. Even then you lose more than you win. Do you actually think a recruit who is trying to make basketball his future career has ever said to a coach, "Yea I really like your program and even though you are white and the majority of your staff is white, I just dont think there is enough diversity on your team?" I dont think so. A basketball team is 13 scholarship players trying to win a national championship on the court and getting a degree off of it. Its not a social experiment or a CYO team. Best players\people you can get you take them regardless of race. It's not bias its just how it has worked out. Cronin would have taken McGary in a heartbeat. Didnt work out that way so he had to go get another player he thought was a good fit for his system. That player turned out to be black. Not bias just recruiting.

How many top 100 recruits do we get? After that it is a crap shoot. I would like to see diversity here but it seems I am alone. Which is fine. And again, you have dodged the question at hand. Seems a norm.

So you want to increase racial diversity by substituting Pittman for Jackson? Brilliant. Word to the wise, when coming to a gun fight, don't bring knives. In your case, toothpicks.

I have answered the question more than once but for you I will answer it one last time. Why does UC not have any white players on the roster. 1- There are more elite black players than there are white. White players makeup maybe 10% of the top 150. To be competitive in the best conference in America you need to recruit elite kids. 90% black vs 10% white. Do not see why the result is that confusing. 2- Why do white kids choose other schools over UC? The elite ones have a plethora of other schools after them as well. Many of them have better facilities, history, wins, coaches, ect. You lose more than you win when you recruit high division one players. When there is only 10% of your recruiting pool up to the standards you require to win in a certain criteria its easy to see why those numbers would be small. 3- You recruit to a system. UC wants long athetic kids who can run and jump with anyone in the country. Most white players are more pure shooters and bruisers inside. You rarely find a 6'7 white kid who can do it all and is not going to Duke. African American players have more kids who fit Cronins system. If you just stop with this bias nonsense and look at the situation rationally you will notice there are concrete valid reasons why there is a lack of racial diversity not just at UC but in the NCAA in general. I agree that everyone is entitled to their opinion but to question his recruiting tactics as if he has some sort of "No White Players Allowed" conspiracy I think is completely off base and unfair to Cronin.

Great post. Couldn't have said it better. Still will not appease the racist minority on this site, however.

Why should AC be banned and ignored when Anbuc88 says things far worse? Making the assumption that Coach is a "massa" of an all african-american basketball team and that white players should sit in front of the bus is ignorant and degrading. Both are idiots for bringing race up but it is an issue that needs discussed from time to time. What was said about a larger pool is true but all programs address equality and the fact that UC fields an all african-american team consistently is unique and curious. I find it odd how no one offers explanations as to why this occurs here, but have no problems questioning another's motive. Just because a coach offer's something does not mean a problem does not exist when those players consistently decline. I back Coach but I do question his recruiting tactics the same as others. And others on here have brought up this issue but hide it under the phrase "basketball IQ". The fact that AC is not politically correct obviously is a weakness when debating his points. I am a fan of basketball and would support this team through Hell, but people should not be muffled because they have strong opinions.

Are you serious. Your reading comprehension requires some remedial work. Hey Amberly, this is the guy who is in your corner. Congrats.

I want to make it clear that I am not calling anyone racist on this board. I do not know any of you personally and Im certainly not going to judge you based on an opinion on a message board. I just wanted to state my opinion on why I think you are wrong based on your arguments about race and how it pertains to the UC basketball team.

I have no problem calling a racist a racist. Just like i would call a pedophile a pedophile. When someone repeatedly comes on here and make race an issue when there is none, and stubbornly refuses to acknowledge facts that refute their stance, then they are a racist. It is what it is.
