It seems like we are agreeing to be civil on this board, and I don't want to start a flame war with this, just thought it was important.

I'm honestly shocked it came to this. I thought that the series could continue to be played at both sites. However, I will be trying to get a ticket as hard as possible. It will be interesting to see how fans act at the game.

The more I think about it, the more I think it could be cool, if the fans are civil. My UC friends and I have talked about trying to get to a crosstown together in the past, and maybe this could be a cool tradition to do every year. We have talked about possibly tailgating then going, but it never really could work out with games being at home arenas, now it is a possibility.

What are your thoughts and opinions?

Finally! An actual reason to talk about this game!

I don't like the idea because I just don't know that the fans can be civil. I think this is a good idea on the court as it will eliminate the "Us against the world" aspect of playing this game on the road which tends to lead to instances like this past year.

It will definitely take some getting used to, but I will say it has worked in the Mizzou-Illinois series. Bottom line is the atmosphere at Cintas was not safe and has been boiling over for years. At 5th 3rd it is definitely intense, but the game was unplayable at the Cintas Center.

I have thought that the game needed moved since the year Lance Stephenson was here. The environment that season was ugly and intense at Cintas. I'm not baiting here just giving my observation and experience. I have been to shoot outs at 5th/3rd and I have seen X fans trash talked to but nothing like what I witnessed that season at Cintas directed at UC's team and fans. From what I hear that was nothing compared to last season.

The game needs to go on so it is good that they found a way to make it happen. The atmosphere will still be good but it wont have the built in bias a home and home has. You will still get students and school fans but there will be room for the casual sports fan that wants to see this event as well. I think it'll be a positive except for the replays of Wells blindsiding Guyn to start the Brawl and Yancy tagging Frease over and over and over every season going forth.

I am not jumping over with excitement especially since we were due for the next home game, just another time UC gives more than the other party. But, on the other hand it could be an awesome time down tailgating on the banks and really seeing US bank filled up! UC finds ways to win at the arena.
This will be one game X fans will have more than one bar to tailgate, they won't know what to do with themselves. ;-)

I can't wait 'til an X fan hurts a UC fan. It will happen sooner or later. X fans are the worst.

Xavier fans and players have ruined the Crosstown Shootout.

Xavier fans do not know how to act, throwing blue paint on Butch Jones, Larry Davis's wife, Mick's dad and brother, Kenny Frease smacking the AD's wife cell phone out of her hand, there was no way UC was ever going to play at Cintas again.

Because XU fans and players cannot control themselves UC fans get next year's game taken away from 5/3rd arena.

It came down to US Bank Arena or no game at all, UC probably should have canceled the series but has decided to throw XU a bone and play on a neutral court.

One thing is 99.94% sure and that is UC will never again play at Cintas, XU fans and players have only themselves to blame.

I agree that UC should never play at Cintas again. As a student at UC I know for the most part the UC students would be able to handle the game being at 5/3rd but there are always those people that will come to try and start something. Its a shame that the series cannot continue the was it was in the past but it is what it is. Tensions will be high with two student sections there so I am hoping they put them as far away as possible from each other.

Kinda wanted a game at 5/3rd since we scorched XU by 20 last time they came to play.

Every fan base has some nut that doesnt have things in perspective. I know 3 years ago one of my good friends was the shootout at UC and some jerk was giving him garbage the whole time and hit him with a beer and there is no chance he was doing anything more than clapping for his team.

There is no doubt at all that this was Mick Cronin and UC. Mick didnt want to go back to Cintas and I think there was multiple reasons.

I am not sure how I feel, like Kcourt said it could be a lot of fun going down to the banks before the game and hanging with UC and X friends and talking junk and debating matchups. I have wanted to do this for years but it is hard when it is on campuses.

I am thrilled that I should be able to get tickets each year however.

Some good, some bad.

Once again UC fans get the short end of the stick because of the bad behavior of XU fans and players.

UC should cancel the game rather than throwing bones to XU.

Maybe if enough season tickets holders complain UC will decide to cancel.

I will be emailing Whit to express my feelings.

This was UC's decision 100 percent.

I think the traditions could be a blast amoung my group of friends.

I think this has the potential to be a good thing. The chance to tailgate and have a split crowd could be a lot of fun as long as fans aren't too over the top. I know this isn't an apples to apples comparison but the SEC football championship is always on a neutral site with highly enthusiastic fan bases together with relatively little problems (at least I can't think of any at the moment). We should be able to pull this off.

Are concession revenues split among the schools in this scenario?

I honestly want to keep the rivalry as long as it can be safe for both teams. If something happens this year then it should be cancelled. Mick will make sure nothing happens from the UC side. I just hope Mack can handle his players. This rivalry has meant a lot for the city barring last year.

The only way that I would stop it is if we could get an annual series with IU, Kentucky or OSU.

You know I think we need to be careful not to cast too many stones, yes fans at X have done some bad things, but to think no UC fans have done similar is turning a blind eye. College kids are college kids and they do stupid things at times. Also to say UC gives in by not taking their home game this year is crap, someone had to give at some point so UC took the lead good for them.

I for one have been to the game at both arenas the past 10 years or so and never had any issues with the crowd. Now I did have Dez wells yell at me during play this past year but that's another story.

Hopefully this will be good for both schools, this game needs to be played. There may be a debate as to whether or not it needs a cooling off period after last year, but it needs to be played, it is one of the best local rivalries in the country period. I'm glad they have found a way to make it happen, I just pray there is no bad behavior on either side of the court next year on or off the court.

I forgot all about this claim. I remember at one point UC fans claimed Frease actually hit the AD's wife, and said that UC was already pressing charges. In fact, I made a bet with someone here that it would never happen, don't know who I made it with. Can't believe people actually believed that story.

2 things, it wasn't the AD's wife, it was Coach Davis's wife, and he didn't hit her, he smacked her cell phone out of her hand. It did happen, that is a fact, but hardly a reason to press any charges.
