I love that we pretty much played terrible on offense and destroyed them.

Sean was off, we got nothing out of our bigs, and we still dismantled them in the second half. Love our D and rebounding. Glad to get through that game. Now we need to keep our focus. New Mexico will be tough.

We still gotta work on our flow in offense....and I know I'm a broken record...but Rubles is killing me.

How about a relevant post...Good win for the bearcats...definitely made some adjustments at the half...our depth was too much for XU...Killa really stepped up with taking it to the basket...christon is going to be really good player for years to come...glad to see the game be successful and no issues...props to ESPN for their coverage of the game...was expecting a lot of replays of the fight, but they focused more on the efforts of both schools to move forward and better themselves...definitely going to sleep well tonight
Go Bearcats!

UC baaaby!!! I was repping hard in Naples FL while on vacation!! Wish I could have been there the crowd looked electric! Would love to get some insight from people who were there! Total domination in the 2nd half kudos to Mick! In Mick we trust!

Looked pretty good, considering this was the "worse case" scenario. We have no half court offense, it is anaemic. Gotta keep pressuring and getting turnovers. The offense has to and will get better. You could tell the players were nervous, lots of slipping, traveling, and dropped passes both ways early on. If we continue to rebound, make a decent amount of ft's, and play d, that is enough to keep us in games where we go through cold spells. Also, two other notes-dont let Titus shoot from 3 unless shot clock requires it and tell Justin Jackson to not try to drive.

Very happy to just get out of that mess with a W, but dear JESUS do we need an offensive flow. I love Mick but how has he not come up with anything else? And so help me god if I see Rubles take one more damn 3 pointer. Sorry I'm making it sound like I'm just bitching when we won by 15, but I'm already over the whole rivalry and I'm focusing on our team's needs. The D looked great, but run some real plays once in a while.

Here's my recap.

I listened to the game on the radio, and the play-by-play and boxscore up on my computer, while I stayed late at work. Xavier always seems to come to play and UC always seems tight in these games. On the radio, it kinda sounded that way.

Watched it on my DVR when I got home after the game had already ended and I knew they had won.

First half was simply a "debacle" offensively as Mick said at halftime. He was dead on that one. The defense and rebounding were stifling. But UC kept making dumb moves offensively that turned the ball over and gave Xavier easy buckets. But Xavier really could do nothing in their halfcourt offense. Our size, athleticism, and typical stifling defense shut them down. Like I said, most of their points came off our stupidity.

And offensively, UC seemed to rush things. Mick said that in his postgame and I agree (and I don't always agree with Mick).

If UC could eliminate the stupid turnovers and get some intelligent flow to their offense, Mick is correct that they could be an elite team. Because typically, the defense and rebounding are pretty consistent. Barring an opponent just simply being hot and in can't miss mode, most opponents aren't going to break 60 points on a normal night.

If Mick can get the offense humming, this team is going to be impressive. Not there yet though.

Rubles frustrates me. Doesn't seem to know a good shot from a bad shot. S K gets 3 point happy. Parker disappears for long periods of time. Cash seems to wait to see if S K is going to do anything. And they rarely try to do anything with Mbodj or Nyarsuk or even Jackson in the low post.

Fine tune the offense. Maintain the defense and rebounding, and this team keeps getting better.

I will take any win against X. I figured it'd be ugly. The offensive flow still sucks and it gives no one the chance to be successful. And the run and gun we've been hearing about is non-existent for 95% of the games. As long as UC has more talent their defense will allow them to prevail like it did tonight.

SK took the game over when he needed to. Not his best game but when it counted he was money and he made at least one huge three. He is a good, not great, jump shooter. When he attacks the rim he is 100x better. His defense and rebounding were very solid tonight.

I'm still waiting on Cash to be the PG. Not the scorer, the PG. Way too many bad shots, lazy passes, etc. When he is running the game like he is capable of UC is very tough to beat. So far this year it doesn't seem like he wants it to be his team like he should.

JJ is JJ. Still leads the nation in stupid fouls and then pretending like he doesn't understand why the ref called him for taking a guys head off. IMO he is a complete liability on the court.

I love Titus, but he was braindead tonight. So many god awful 3's it was infuriating. I thought he played great in every other aspect. Played good d and really crashed the boards. Unfortunately his shot is so bad that defenders just play off of him (like I said would happen earlier in the year). He is still head and shoulders better than JJ.

I thought Mbodj and DNy played good. Obviously not much offensively but they disrupted any penetration and dominated the boards. I thought DNy might have deserved more playing time tonight but can't complain about those two.

I was also impressed with Shaq. His defense has really improved as has his decision making. Once the game slows down and he lets the game just come to him he is going to be very good.

I actually thought the announcers and the refs were pretty good tonight. Not perfect but pretty good. The refs missed at least one obvious travel call and some fouls when SK went to the bucket but I liked how they called the game.

Big Win! Go Cats!

Defense was relentless

Offense still needs work

Rubles shoots like a 3rd grader

He is very very wrong about Cash. Cash has turned into an amazing scoring point guard. He is the master of our offense and need his scoring which has been point all year. I am really impressed with his shooting stroke this year. If you watch games from last year to the current, Cash is the missing piece we have been needing. He has improved so much I hate this is his final year.

@ ready2go: your last comment cracked me up. I would like to see him just drive and shoot mid range.

Our defense straight up dismantled Xavier... literally and was their demise. Regardless of people's comments on our offense, our defense will give us a chance to win every game. Our offense will come.

I think Cash just needs to have the ball in his possession more. He's smooth with the basketball, and is a great scorer and passer. You don't just have to be a scoring or a passing PG. I love SK but he didn't need to have the ball THAT much last night. 27 shots is too many. I'd like to see Cash's assists go up, but I don't want to see his scoring drop either. He is an electric 3 point shooter and driver.

The game was pretty much over, but Cash's 3 pointer with 1 second left on the possession clock from about 25 ft. with about 1:10 left in the game was the final dagger. The X fans headed for the exits after that.

Cash can stroke it from NBA range. I think he's the best three point shooter on the team and should probably shoot more. He could even work on pump faking, getting his defender in the air and drawing fouls or cutting to the basket. When you're that deadly from long range AND have ball skills to get to the hole, you need to play those off eachother and keep'em guessing.

Cash is a very talented PG. Not an easy chore knowing when to distribute ball and when to score the ball yourself. Cash does that very very well.

Rubles will be fine. He plays good D and rebounds the ball as evidenced by his team leading total lastnight. He is fresh out of JC and will get better as the year progresses. His shot will improve. If he is knocking them down in practice it is just a matter of time before they drop in the game. With his slashing style and excellent pump fake, when they do start dropping it will really open his game up because opponents will have to step up to guard him which will enable him to go around them to the basket. With the Cats spreading the floor as there base offense if he does get his shot to drop it will force opponents to play him out to the three line and make penetration easier for the 3 amigos. The benefit of him getting better and helping the others get more opportunities far out weigh his missing a few. If it didn't Mick would tell him to stop shooting them.

Micks teams e remind me of Huggins and Pitino his mentors. They all subscribe to the theory that defense never takes a night off. You may have nights when your shot isn't dropping but you still better be guarding or you won't be playing. Mick was such a great hire it isn't even funny. Great coach who wants to be here.

Just hope and pray when he lets it fly, other than that he is very athletic and can def help this team.

Side note, I want to see Gaines get in the game. I remember last year after the X game when players had to fill in and Gaines did a fine job within his role. Just makes for a deeper bench
