Crosstown Shootout at US Bank!

Well then, lets move all games to neutral sites then.

This is hardly a good argument for this ridiculous move.

Im not saying its a good idea at all. Personally I would love to have it at 5/3rd and the move is completely rediculous but if its going to happen might as well take something positive about it.

Moving one game to a neutral site in no way equates to moving all the games. Having an neutral site game between 2 teams in the same city is a lot different than the "neutral site" game the football team has with VaTech this year.

If I was Whit I would have told the Xavier AD that either we play at 5/3rd this year or the series will end. Xavier lost the right to host games in the shootout with their team and fans behavior at Cintas last year and that doesnt mean we should give up the right to have a home game. Especially when our fans(for the most part) and players will be able to control themselves.

Dont like it. I think it is an overreaction by both schools to the brawl. If there were big enough concerns that they felt the game could not be played on campus then should they be playing at all? Also I dont like the added pressure it puts on the fans. These two fan bases have never been the best of friends and with last year's events there is definitely animosity left over. Now they are going to be in the same arena? Should everyone be able to act like adults? Yes. Will they? Probably not. Just think this creates more problems than it solves.....

I think this is on this is on the money. More fights in the stands...maybe less on the court.

I'm worried that this isn't going to just be two years but indefinitely. I think it's important that the schools prove they can have it on campus without there being incidents (just like Duke vs. NC and other college BB rivalries). I also think UC's athletic department caved. It was our turn to host and there haven't been issues at the Shoe. Instead, we give away home court advantage for a game where there is likely a quality win at stake.

Apparently, it's not a done deal. My guess is that it will likely be played at US Bank, but the reports were premature.

Bill stated in his article it is not a done deal.

The other option is to cancel the game.

UC, like Purdue, will never play at Cintas again.

Jemele Hill just used her "face time".on around the horn to blast this decision. Such a clear thinker.

Screw X, I don't think uc including the team and fans and alum should have to be punished for their wrong doing. I am with the posters who say we play at 5/3 or the series is done. I would like for one for our university and take control and not mutually doing the PC route.
So if this a done deal would it be played at us bank every year or is this a one year done?

I don't really get the people that are extremely upset by this. Last year was a low point and the schools wanted to make a move to at least show that they weren't just going to ignore the situation. From what I've heard, it seems like there will be a trial period and then the series will be evaluated. I think it will be an interesting change of pace if it does indeed happen. No big deal.

i have a couple of thoughts regarding this:

1) if the game is going to be at US Bank, UC needs to make sure they treat the season ticket holders fairly when it comes to seat locations and prices...the university and athletic department cannot afford to lose those fans and their support

2) to me, it seems like X continues to come out of the brawl unscathed...the lasting image of the brawl nationally is Gates' punch and nothing to do with X's instigation...X went lenient on their suspensions (which was overlooked nationally)...and now they get to bypass a return to the Shoe and play in a neutral setting...it was their fans that do not deserve to host the rivalry, not UC fans

if this is the action necessary to continue the rivalry, i am willing to give it a chance...unfortunately, i do not think the game/environment will ever be the same...

Although ESPN shows Gates' punch anytime they can, Xavier certainly took a hit (no pun intended) in terms of national perception. I live on Indy currently and no one really cared about the punch. Interestingly, there was much more talk about Xs press conference and such.

thanks for the info regarding perception outside of the cincy area...that is good to hear too

Xavier fans and players have ruined the Crosstown Shootout.

Xavier fans do not know how to act, throwing blue paint on Butch Jones, Larry Davis's wife, Mick's dad and brother, Kenny Frease smacking the AD's wife cell phone out of her hand, there was no way UC was ever going to play at Cintas again.

Because XU fans and players cannot control themselves UC fans get next year's game taken away from 5/3rd arena.

It came down to US Bank Arena or no game at all, UC probably should have canceled the series but has decided to throw XU a bone and play on a neutral court.

One thing is 99.94% sure and that is UC will never again play at Cintas, XU fans and players have only themselves to blame.

Ralph, I believe we finally agree on something.

Cry baby XU fans are all upset about US Bank Arena.

I say let them have option # 2, no game at all.

The game is important to the city. UC is on the upswing, why quit the series and allow X to leave having gotten the better of it over the past few years? Play the game and allow the tone to lessen. It's a helluva game and important to our community. US Bank is perfect imo.

I agree, Jeff. After giving it some thought, I am warming up to the idea of playing it downtown. At first I was against it, would rather eliminate or keep it home and home (especially this year since it was our turn for the home court). Theoretically, with 8,000 tickets allotted to both sides, UC could keep it in the season ticket package since I'm sure we haven't sold 8,000 season tickets. I'm not saying that is what they will do or even that I think it is a good idea. I don't have season tickets since I live out-of-town so it won't affect me either way.
