Why we should cancel the shootout

I don't really think thats true You say the rep has been declining around the country for last few years....ask Xaviers three biggest rivals and a team in the tri-state area. (The only reason Indiana may hate X is because Xavier benefited from Indiana violations).

I don't see what Tu said following him in the tournament. I think the country will still like Xavier going into the tournament because they are a non BCS team that can make a deep run. They will be a 3 seed easily and could be a 2. (They will role the A-10, and gonzaga, Memphis will be hardest games left. LBSU will be extremely tough, an expected loss, with Xavier missing 40% of starting line up) I think while some are underestimating this- you are overestimating it.

Really, it all depends on how each team responds when they get players back. If nothing happens again for either team- this will be a non issue.

Fair points Dontmisshim. I think we are on two different pages with how we are looking at this. Maybe I am over reacting to most peoples eyes.

Personally, if and when we continue this series a few things should happen. First, both teams need to respect each other and should be able to appreciate having two good programs in the city. Both schools represent Cincinnati and should be proud. Its ignorant and immature how this we own the city bullsh!t has taken over. Nobody runs nothing, you aren't a mob boss calling shots. You're a basketball player, check yourself. Secondly, the city and fans and media need to make this game a fun celebration. We all should appreciate each other and just enjoy the basketball being played. Simple as that. After that one game who cares what the other one does, worry about your team. We are in two different conferences so it shouldn't matter.

I simply do not care that Tu and Yancy are looked at as bad people.... They dug themselves a hole and they can find a way out. They both are going to be just fine.

To cancel a game is absurd. If two teams cannot play a game, how sad is that? How pathetic does that make the schools look?

The game will continue to be played, as it should. This wont happen again, and people will go back to loving the best basketball rivalry in the state.

Some people have become soft.

Honestly, this has happened every year for the past 3 years.
It is sad that we can't go a shootout without a punch, a headbutt or a bench clearing, but that's just how it is. Some things in life are unfortunate, you just have to let them go. Clinging to some sentimental idea of tradition, that no one really cares about any more, is just a waste of time.
We get nothing out of this.

Why should we continue to play it? So we can risk having our best player suspended, and having our season screwed over, just so we can get excited about a game, that only one fan base is really hyped about?
It's stupid.
What do we accomplish in playing this game? Nothing. Screw it, let them play the other regional teams.

I don't even think UC will--especially how Mick has handled things.

No doubt- Xavier should have never let Tu and Lyons talk after the game. If they don't allow them to talk this would not be as big.

I've been curiously thinking of how this incident is viewed if Chris Mack had any sense and not allowed these guys to speak. I think the national perception overwhelmingly makes UC out to be the bad guy if they don't speak. I haven't heard anything negative about X involving the brawl, it's all on their comments.

The thing that's gets me the most is Mack said he realizes it was a mistake letting those two players speak because they were so involved in everything that happened and that he should have let two different guys go to the press conference. NOOOO, you shouldn't have let any players do any speaking. Is he really that dumb?
