Using your logic wouldn't it also be hard to blow a 22 point lead?

commentators even noted our guys looked scared and completely unsure of what to do. thats a reflection of the coach.

the old style of berating and screaming at your players all the time is going away. look how all the young solid coaches act these days. different players and different environment. it would probably be in micks best interest to slowly move that way as well.

I won't argue the point that times are changing but all these guys went through The Whole year playing under his style. No one should have been surprised. Look fact is you can't give the players all the credit for a wonderful season then when a 22 point lead is blown in 11 minutes its all on the coach. That is very self serving. All involved had a hand in that loss. It was horrendous. It was Historic!! Hopefully Mick can adjust to the times if it is needed. The guys that play for him love him. They stay 4 years and leave it all on the court. You don't get the effort that he gets without the kids respecting the coach. Also Mick loves his players. They know that as well.

I think you are still missing the idea that a lot of the blame for the players in that particular game, is a result of being mishandled throughout. Not saying you have to agree with it.

I don't and the team results support that. Jake that wasn't the first close game we played. The conference tourney were all nail biters. We shit the bed against Nevada. We had a great year except for a 11 minute stretch. Simple as that. From the coach on down. Nothing that happened during the year supports the thought we should have given away a 22 point lead.

Thought this excerpt from the new ESPN article about the Celtics was interesting:

Frantic, screaming, gesticulating coaches can raise panic in players who might be prone to it. Some players tune out everything. Some follow the lead of authority figures. They look at Stevens and see assurance. They see, "Next play." "Some players have a tendency to get frazzled or emotional," Ainge said. "Brad helps with that."

That says it all to me. We see it all the time. Cumberland is the type who can completely tune it out. Washington forced himself to be that way. Most of our players, and most college players can't do that.

I’m a big Cronin guy I will always be happy with him as our coach, but I have to agree with you guys on this flaw, I don’t mind him being hard on his players but at times he can put it to a whole nother level, don’t know what happened behind the scenes with deshaun Morman and Jeremiah Davis III, but he was very hard on them in particular, maybe he just wanted them to transfer and that was his way of doing it, idk.

But it worked for bob knight and growing up he said he always watched Indiana play so maybe that’s who he adapted it from.

TNT has been praising Stevens during halftime during the playoffs. Those guys love how he empowers his players and allows them to play their game.

They keep saying they don't believe coaches can give players confidence, but coaches can absolutely take it away.
