It's not a matter if the refs were trash or not. They were flat out criminal. Point blank. Period. When the refs neuter your style of play from the get-go it effects player's psyche tremendously. Only people who have played at a high level understand that. We came out playing like scolded dogs with great intensity. These pathetic bastards made sure we played their game and stopped it. I'm very disappointed in John for not dressing down the refs. You know you're going to lose that game might as well go out in a blaze of glory. OSU and Holtman should be ashamed if they take any sense of pride in that "victory". I am encouraged though. If we are allowed to play with that intensity and pace, with fair officiating and hitting a few shots we will be a pretty good team. Funny all the experts on here ripped Vogt and Sorolla all pre-season but they played very admirably despite being jobbed all night. They both outplayed Wesson who was bailed out by the clownshow all night.

The one thing I didn’t want to say after the game is I am really worried. I actually feel better about the season upcoming. The shots will fall and if we play D like that we will be just fine

It wasn't bad all the way around. Vogt/Sorolla looked better than I expected, they both really know how to carve out space right by the bucket. They need to learn to play D without fouling though. Keith played really well after struggling the first 10 minutes or so. McNeal looked solid but needs to clean it up a bit.

Cumberland looked like a guy that missed all summer and just got back, he legs didn't seem to be there. Jaevin struggled with his shot. Diarra isn't going to be playable again, he's just so lost out there. Tre grabbed offensive boards but really struggled outside of that. He's just not a perimeter type big guy, he needs to work more inside, Kyle Young really dominated that match up.

We showed we had a plan vs a very good big. Just gotta get better overall.

Wesson walked on water.

I watched a backwards charge.

I watched a 3pt play taken off the board.

I watched a 5 on 4 stopped for injury.

27-18 should never happen

Also, a clear as day non-charge taken in the restricted area followed by another borderline charge taken in the restricted area. Not to mention the most egregious non-call foul on Jaevin I may have ever seen by Wesson. Absolutely pathetic. Wesson is a pussy. Not impressed by him. Kyle Young is much tougher.

The reason Jaevin appeared to play like crap is he got raped all night then gets called for bogus non-fouls. You want to talk about being totally discouraging. Poor kid was so frustrated. The D is allowed to do anything they want to you with no calls then YOU get called for a foul!

I doubt this team will be competitive in the AAC. Uncreative, plodding, and soft. Brannen really looks like he is in over his head. I expect a lot of complaining about officiating all year.

The team that was originally formulated would have gone into Columbus and mopped the floor with that team Brooks and nsoseme alone down low would of rebounded and protected the rim, old coach would have been on the refs ass too no question possibly would have been ejected from this one. Should of won last yr, officiating is always skep for UC in Columbus, questionable calls football and basketball not at all surprising. The bench and post play is going to be in question all season. Defense is going to have to keep it's discipline, encouraged with Kieth Williams so far, this team doesn't have all the pieces but it has some. Brannen has to patch it since it detached on him

Team is going to have to buy in and trust brannen. He kept repeating “this team needs to surrender to me on offense” in his postgame interview.

Said the offense was about 30% of what it should be but the guys have to come to practice willing to focus on every detail. Said we can’t have bad body language when it’s time to do drills. They must trust every cut and every bit of movement.

I think a lot of it was aimed towards jarron. You could see brannen about to lose his mind a couple times when jarron just decided he was shooting a 3 no matter what. We really need jarron to buy in.

Even though OSU was also missing a key bench player last night, I think we would've benefited from having a healthy Trevor Moore out there.

Not sure how much of an impact he would've had but I think he could've helped stabilize our play at both ends of the floor, especially in the 2nd half.

Mick let jarron do whatever he wanted. He was untouchable. Brannen treats him like everyone else. Will be interesting if jarron shuts down or rises to it.

It's one game, and I didn't expect to win. To put it in perspective, UC lost by the same amount last year at home, with established players and coach who have been in the system, to a inferior OSU team. This game was on the road, new system, players and coaches, and was a better OSU team. Factor in the awful refs and I'm pleasantly surprised.

The disappointing aspect to me was the returners. Trevon Scott was terrible. Offense, defense, rebounding, you name it he did not come to play. Simply got dominated.

KW had a pretty bad game two. Fortunately he made a couple 3's. His defense was bad, was completely selfish on offense, and handles were bad leading to turnovers or lost oppurtunities.

Jarron seemed like he didn't really want to be there. Reminded me of the Iowa game to end the season last year. I'm hoping it's just being tired from not practicing all summer.

That’s Jarron. Sometimes it seems like he isn’t interested. I think he gets frustrated when he has to play better athletes. Harder to do what he wants.

Also, I don’t think we need anymore post ups from our centers at crucial points in the game. We have a lot better options than that.

The offense looked better, while not necessarily producing better results. Branenn has to find a way to get his best players better looks though even if that means just letting Jarron iso. This team will live and die with how good Jarron is.

i actually thought they did a great job of carving out space right at the rim. 5-8 for 10 points combined. And that was vs a tough match up. I could see some games where they do really well.

Rest of the team was 14-49. 28.5%

Tre rebounded well.. But was incompetant offensively

I'm fairly concerned with keith.... He was beyond bad yesterday defensively and refuses to go to the rim hard. Hes to strong and athletic to be soft. Also worried hes a bit mentally soft.

Jarrons attitude could become an issue. Ita well known he dislikes practice and often shuts down.

If they become our best option, we won’t win 10 games. I understand they did ok last night but going forward, I would put my money on our guards and wings being better options. If you think we should continue to feed them in the post in crucial situations, ok. I don’t think it will work to well

I think its an option you can use when others are struggling. No way would I ever choose it to be the top option.

The highlight of the game was Mcneals defense at times. Kid is sneaky with picking the pocket of guys out there. His missed layup was a killer though.

All in all, it looked like the first game for a coach in the first year implementing his system for the first time. If I were an OSU fan I would be more concerned than if I were a UC fan. They looked terrible.
