Games of Importance for the Resume

George Mason wins on the road at Dayton. Outside chance at Quad 2 if they keep winning?
It's possible. They need to move up 40 spots, but they're playing really well. I've also thought that if I'm tracking UCLA, I might as well track NKU too. NKU has a better NET ranking now.

For god's sake...I need ECU to win a few more. Right now that 1 victory makes me ill. If they can't weasel any more wins...that loss will cost us a seed line or two. It's a glaring bruise right this second. whoof.

The problem with ECU winning is it will hurt whoever they beat, possibly costing us Q1 and Q2 wins. I'd rather have as many of those as we can get. ECU is still going to be bad loss even if they win a few more. The only team I really want them to beat is Tulane.

As the season goes on will you adjust games that will help UC win the conference? For instance, will you always have Houston as a team we should root for because the higher their ranks the better it is for our resume or should we root against so that we can be outright conference champs?

Every situation is different, and I do my best to determine if we have a rooting interest. It's all just my opinion, and could very well be wrong. Some games I won't bold either team because there are competing interests that are equally important. Many conference games that don't involve Tulane, ECU or USF fall into that category.

SMU looks bad without Foster. I got a feeling they may end up being a double Q3 for us.

I think I'm pulling for Memphis from here on out. It seems they may have an outside shot of making the tourney.

They need a lot of help but the bubble appears to be especially weak this season. Memphis could potentially sneak in.

Also helps when the conference tourney is at your home court

Florida makes a late 3-pointer in regulation to force OT against Ole Miss and goes on to win by 4. Ole Miss should still stay Q1 for us barring a big losing streak.

Memphis loses big @Tulsa but no major quartile shifts should occur as a result.

SMU/Wichita was neck and neck for nearly the entire second half and ended on a fitting note with Wichita making a lay-up with 1 second left to win. Both teams should stay Q2/Q3 for now but SMU is a bigger risk to drop to Q3/Q3 soon.

UCLA wins by 20 at Wash State. The slow climb back to Q2 is en route.

The announcers made a Mick Cronin reference in that game. They said his quote about how basketball is like boxing because you have to keep your hands up.

I caught that as well. It was pretty cool to get a little bit of free press even if it was on a game that only a few hard core fans were watching.

I think it's time to root against Houston unless they're playing Tulane or ECU. They will very likely finish top 30 even with quite a few losses, and if they lose it will boost the NET of other conference teams and increase our chances for the league title.
