In particular I am talking about a few of Jenifer s lob passes. Wonderful touch but dangerous too. His direct passes are SO crisp!

Let's see if I can remember. One pass I think may have been lobbed to Ellis from the key which I think was deflected ob.

One pass was a lob inside to one of the big with a defender on each side...our guy came down with it.

And another one to a baseline streaking Johnson cross court lob like a qb perfectly timed...but if it wasn't perfect it's a TO.

None of these ended bad but I was nervous for him on all 3. Again...he's got amazing touch on the lobs...but they are dangerous against good competition.

I'm with you, love his game, but some of his passes against better teams, and defenses are turnovers. They can be thrown against GVSU, but maybe not UCONN I think he's going to have to watch forcing passes going forward. But I love his game, figured I'd say that again since a bunch of his uncles are posters on this board.

Perhaps his BB IQ allows him to realize the level of comp and maybe he doesn't throw some of those lobs against the UConns, etc. The point is he did last night and they were successful. We'll see as the season progresses.

Just a personal observation there guy, keep in mind he's a freshman. Don't doubt his BBall IQ, but more often then not freshman go through struggles.

It's a good point...but I think it was Chad who brought up that he still has to adjust to D1 speed concerning his passes. Perhaps since he is so smart...he's adjusting very quickly. I'm guessing both...he's going to learn by trial and error but learn faster than most.

Obviously we are cautiously optimistic. However in the one exhibition and the only scrimmage I heard stats on he is 9-1 on asst to TO. Not a great sample but I'm sure Cronin has told him in practice he can't be so liberal with the ball all the time...and he seemed very liberal with the ball last night. With pretty good success this time I might add

Jenifer did have one picked off. He tried to throw about 3/4 court and it came up short. But his job when he is in will be to create. I can live with a freshman mistake here and there.

maybe he steps his game up against D1 teams

The lob pass outlets are a lot better than the 60 foot bounce passes I watched him try over and over in the EYBL. My point with him all along is that he sees openings in such small windows that the development will be learning when to hold one back because the window will close before the delivery. He's adjusting well, just not fully there yet...

I think I was definitely watching him the closest. I mean Evans effortlessly scored 12 points in 16 minutes almost as if he was a Junior and was just supposed to do that. We got 30 pts from the SF last night...arguably our weakest position last year.

I guess it's because I feel Jenifer has the potential to impact the team the most in the future because of his position. ..he will be the floor general at some point even if it's after troy leaves.

Where you trying get him? Curry, Westbrook, Russell all have similar to's. When your that good at what you do it's going be bad pass here or there. No guard on team will NEVER have passing skills he has

If it's 3 to 1 or better it probably wouldn't matter. Last year TC was less than 2 to 1. I don't think that ratio was in the top 150 players averaging 3 assts per game or better...i could be wrong but we have to get better there.

He was 3.6 to 2.1. If he's going to have 2 TO'S per game he has to average 5-6 assists or get the TO'S down to 1-1.5.

I see a lot of people are concerned with the offensive rebounding, but offensive rebounds have to do with your team missing shots and we made over 50% from the field so the offensive rebounds shouldn't be as concerning as some of you think.

A lot of the comments about Jenifer on here are almost comical.

Well at least you got that out of the way. Seems like an almost useless comment without clarification as to what you may or may not be referring to.

Many freshmen are stepping into Division 1 and performing just as good, if not better than older division 1 players. All point guards will have some of their passes intercepted. I would rather see a few turnovers than our typical point guards who have neither the ability, nor the guts, to deliver a pass when the opportunity stares them right in the face. The lack of a true point guard has been a huge problem for us and our anemic offense. Rather than rationalizing about why he will eventually struggle, I choose to focus on why he is destined to succeed. I see the recent successes of Division 1 freshmen as a reason to believe he will be no different. I will enjoy seeing his passing, especially against UCONN.

Jenifer made multiple risky passes that will not fly against a D1 team. But that's ok that's what exhibition is for. I'm sure Mick will point out his mistakes and he will hopefully not try those in real games. He's shot doesn't look nice but if it's effective whose to stop him. He ever be a high volume shooter but he must take the shots he is given to keep the defense honest.

What I was most impressed with Jacob Evans. He looked so smooth. His corner threes were two of the smoothest shots I've seen in a while at UC. Disappointed that in the half court there were a couple times, with Cobb and Johnson, the ball could have been swung but it took a second to long which will be something they have to shore up. Also the rebounding was dosappointing. Can't ever get out rebounded by a D2 team. Not to be doom and gloom but there are definitely some things they need to work on.

I am not speculating or rationalizing anything. I am giving my thoughts after seeing Justin play about a hundred times to date between AAU, workouts, open gym, practice, scrimmages and now an exhibition game.

I think he is adjusting well, and will very likely play more than I anticipated when he signed. I see days where his passing has you walking out of the gym buzzing, and days his team has to run multiple times for turning it over far too much and I walk out wondering.

As for what I think of his passing ability, go to the final 10 seconds of the players post game press conference from GVSU...
