I've seen this mentioned several times in different threads and I wanted to talk about it a little more. I think it would be fantastic: 2 storied programs recovered from turmoil and now back on solid ground. Not to mention Crean and Cronin's relationship and how close the 2 schools are. I love it.

Chances it happens? When it would happen? All just hearsay at this point or is this in serious discussion?

Won't happen. Both schools are recruiting a lot of the same players.

Indiana won't let UC get the opportunity for anymore recruiting exposure in Indiana

I think there's way too much smoke around for this at least not being talked about. It's already happened when Hugg's was here, don't see why it can't happen again. With Crean & Cronin being friends, it is definitely a real possibility imo.

I would put odds around 75%. Many believe it is a formality at this point. Question is the terms. Would it be at the Shoe? When would it start?

Considering they'll likely be in the top 3 early in the season, I'd love to play them regardless of its at Assembly Hall or the Shoe. Something like a 4 year home-and-home series would be great.

name the last player that they were both finalists for and competed directly for? no one on our roster or their roster had both of us in their final 3.

"Jeremy Hollowell is ready to make his announcement on where he’ll attend college. The four schools he’ll pick from: Cincinnati, Indiana, Ohio State and Purdue."

Good effort though dp...

Just to name a few

2012:
Jeremy Hollowell
AJ Hammons
Ron Patterson

2011:
Marquis Teague

Now that both programs are on the rise, the recruiting battles are going to heat up now.

Well actually, with AJ Hammons it was down to Purdue & UC and Marquis Teague was down to UK, UL, & UC. So not sure where you got that info at. I'm sure Indiana offered those two as well but they weren't in the final 2 or 3. I'm not sure Jeremy Hollowell had UC in the final 2 either, seems to me we had dropped out way before his decision whether it was UC's choice or Hollowell's I'm not sure. Have no idea about Patterson.

But regardless, your argument I believe is wrong. Just too many people are saying this. Kind of a lame excuse not to play anyway, sounds like an OSU excuse. Time will tell if we play them or not.

i went to IU. i follow both teams recruiting. i am very familiar with all of the players. UC was not a player for hollowell late in the process nor were they anywhere close when the decision was made.

even if that is your point- you're saying that one non-controversial recruit would prevent uc from doing a home and home with a team? get serious. and if you really wanna play on technicalities- i said "final 3"- not final 4 schools.

Congrats man.

Why do you think the argument is wrong? Its the same argument of why they haven't played us for years. Its the exact same argument as to why OSU doesn't play us.

EE is right on with his analysis. Whether or not the players have both IU and UC in their final 4/3 or whatever is irrelevant. The bottom line is they are going after a lot of the same kids, even if either school is eliminated in the recruiting process early.

Indiana is a HUGE recruiting state. From their perspective, why would they want to give exposure to a rival?

Not buying it. If they are so worried about recruiting, why do they schedule Kentucky every year? They also play Notre Dame each year too. Why aren't they worried about losing recriuts to them? How about Butler? Makes no sense.

what does that even mean? you haven't proven your point yet.

he's proven he can't count.

Recruiting isn't going to prevent those two schools from playing. If they aren't afraid of playing UK there they sure as hell aren't worried about playing UC.

Indiana and Kentucky have played since 1969, it is a historic rivalry. Indiana has no reason to start a long term series with Cincinnati. But as I posted earlier in this thread a 4 game home-and-home series would be what I'd love to see. Comparing a team with no history to one they have played for 43 straight years proves you've cannot count either.

ha ha ha, yea, that proves I can't count...

It's a ridiculous argument anyway. IU isn't going to not schedule UC because they are afraid of losing recruits to UC. There may be other reasons they don't schedule them, but that ain't one of them.

Its not a ridiculous argument at all. They are already battling Purdue in state and now Butler is starting to compete(ND draws more nationally). Indiana up until this year had trouble getting solid in state recruits.

Now that they have, on paper, turned the corner in regards to getting top flight in state recruits, why would they introduce a series with a team from the Big East and give UC more exposure in their backyard?

I don't like it either but IU/UC is not a rivalry.

Apparently you think 43 years of history = 0 years of history. Classic response from mr/ms contradict everything everyone ever posts....
