Indiana Series?

ha ha ha, yea, that proves I can't count...

It's a ridiculous argument anyway. IU isn't going to not schedule UC because they are afraid of losing recruits to UC. There may be other reasons they don't schedule them, but that ain't one of them.

agreed. cronin would not have openly spoken about it all season long as a possibility next year if it wasn't a possibility. iu plays uk every year as well as teams like duke, uconn, unc, etc as well. they aren't backing down from uc simply because they both had preliminary interest in a few common players.

Its not a ridiculous argument at all. They are already battling Purdue in state and now Butler is starting to compete(ND draws more nationally). Indiana up until this year had trouble getting solid in state recruits.

Now that they have, on paper, turned the corner in regards to getting top flight in state recruits, why would they introduce a series with a team from the Big East and give UC more exposure in their backyard?

I don't like it either but IU/UC is not a rivalry.

UC already recruits Indiana. That isn't going to change unless they hire different assistants and even then they will still recruit the state. A home and home series isn't going to do anything to change that.

Indiana also recruits nationally as well, it just so happens that they have had a lot of talent in their backyard.

Apparently you think 43 years of history = 0 years of history. Classic response from mr/ms contradict everything everyone ever posts....

I never made any mention of history so I'm not sure what your point is. You have the arguing abilities of a two year old. Similar math skills as well.

Keep making dumb posts and I will keep contradicting them.

Yea, it's a silly argument. Cronin and Crean are friends and if they can make the series work, they will. IU is always going to be the top dog in Indiana, especially now that Crean has brought them back to respectability.

I can believe that playing UC could have some minor repercussions when it comes to recruiting similar kids (if they lose to us) and also it could give UC some unnecessary pub in state (although UC already plays ND once or twice a year and is seen by the state of Indiana). But one could argue as well that they could gain just as much good exposure in the Cincinnati market for recruiting purposes. I honestly think its a stretch that that would be the sole reason to not play a series. And honestly if a kid is considering a school he will follow them and with ESPN being around it's not that hard. A kid from say Muncie or even Bloomington being recruited by UC won't have a game vs. Indiana as his only means to see us play.

It is very liekly that this series could start in the near future. Purdue and Michigan were others considered (which is no secret to most on these boards and could still happen) but IU is at the top of the list. From what I have been told, they want UC too. They seem to be looking for a good ooc game and UC is obviously looking for one. Mick and Tom Crean have been very big supporters of each other through each of their rebuilding processes. They even go public with alot of their support. I do not think Crean is worried about losing Indiana recruits to anyone at this point. IU is once again the place to go for in state palyers, although Purdue has done well lately. Mick might try to hit Indiana hard but he is in the same boat as most schools, he needs to do well on the East Coast and needs to be able to recruit coast to coast. He knows that and is doing well.

Maybe Purdue will back out of their game with X and schedule UC.:D I'm just kidding of course, I doubt that will happen.

It's going to be interesting to to see what happens with x over the next few weeks with Lyons leaving and their coach and lead east coast recruiter leaving.

I think it's a dumb argument that another program won't play you because of recruiting the same kids.

I see so many programs that recruit against eachother playing eachother all the time non-conference. Makes zero sense.

I guarantee that if Louisville moved to the B12 and UC were still in the BE, they would be playing a non-conference game every year. And it won't surprise me to see WVU schedule UC non-conf when they move to the B12.

I agree with what you are saying about recruiting. However, it sounds like no Big East schools will be scheduling games with any of the schools that left. I understand what you mean though.

Who would you guys want out of IU, Purdue and Michigan? I want IU, then Michigan, then Purdue. I would like to kick Purdue's ass every year though.

It is a dumb argument but it happens all the time.

The idea that teams don't avoid other regional teams for recruiting reasons is ridiculous. While they may still schedule a series (hoping for a 4 game home-and-home, like I said earlier in the thread), it is definitely a factor both sides are considering. Also hearing Louisville was working on a series with Indiana. How many big time teams are they going to play in the OOC?

Do not foresee many Big East teams facing West Virginia in any sports for a while...
