We lose, SK, JJ, Dave, Titus. Who are we going to rely on scoring next year? We are losing a lot after this year. One of those three leads the team in every category. GG and Sanders will be Sr's next year, they and Shaq/Sanders really need to step all their games up next season.

From the looks of things this year...we can't rely on them. That may or may not change next year. I think next year we look to the future with guys like Caupain, Johnson, Lawrence, Strickland, Mormon, Clark, Moore, etc. It will likely be a tough year...but I don't see ST, GG, or JS changing that much if any.

You realize 4 of the 7 players you mentioned haven't even played one single D-1 game. Highly risky.

Shaq needs to step up ASAP.

I think ST will be a contributor next year and I haven't given up on his this year. He is still to skinny but he has good handles and athletism. Sanders and GG wil be useful next year but I don't expect either to be starting.

Shaq's issues aren't that he is too skinny. Sure it'd be nice if he had more meat on his bones but his issue is that he can't finish. He rushes everything, and rarely looks at the rim when he is shooting in traffic and his jump shots have no arch. If he could fix those two issues he'd be a force on this team. UC's lack of big men don't help b/c Shaq shouldn't be asked to defend and rebound against a PF.

Well KJ once again came right into the game and caused a defensive turn over got a steal got a good assist to sanders that he blew that jack had to clean up he got a smart foul off of a JS turn over and didn't see the floor no more we got nothin out of ST or JS I understand they are New York kids so maybe that's why do they deserve to No!

I'm glad somebody noticed this, I just don't understand Micks philosophy, KJ can play but why Mick does what he does is not understandable. If KJ play more minutes we win by at least 8pts! You do want your players to believe in you as a coach but when they do good things and you take them out for no reason then you are a ? Is Mick a good Coach? Don't know, but he does have an eye for talent! I can say this, I am UC biggest fan but no fan of Micks coaching. I watch some of these kids in practice all the time at UC and understand why Mick gets the response that he does from the players, which is poor (Mick fault)! Good luck to the Bearcat future, which can be beautiful. KJ, TC,JL are all in good position as freshmen but would like to see KJ tap in on some more minutes.

Just bc a coach subs a player out doesn't mean the coach thinks that player did something wrong.

KJ also has one of the worst offensive ratings of any player on UC. Small sample size, but it's not like he's been productive this year.

I have one major problem with KJ. A lot of times he is in SK's spot in the offense and he is running off screen after screen and getting open. When he gets thrown the ball coming off those screens he catches, then squares up, then decides if he's open, maybe takes a dribble, then he might shoot or make a move. I think he's a solid shooter and I think he can make things happen on O, but he needs to learn to catch the ball shot-ready or he is really going to struggle against a defense that can recover. He almost looks surprised that he's open after he catches the ball. That role in the offense is designed to give him a 1/2 step advantage or a good look right on the catch. As he is currently, that's pretty much the opposite of his game.

I agree that KJ has a great IQ and has a knack of getting where he needs to be on offense and finds holes, but he is not a solid shooter.

Season
From Field 12-37=32%
From Three 1-15=6%

I think these percentages are misleading. KJ is improving. I like him a lot. I think he will eventually be a solid shooter, and his defense speaks for itself.

Minutes, brings production, he does a lot more than a lot of guys can do at there best.

He will give you something on both ends of the floor, JS? ST don't know when he will come out his shell, and three guards look good to me, only if Cronin lets everybody play and not be a stand around and set screens for SK, let the boy off the leash. This is a mans game, KJ is fearless.

KJ has had some off game but our last 4 games up to the Pitt game he has been very productive offensive and defensive off the bench at NM he gave us 6 points off the bench at the XU game 5 points a couple steals as soon as he entered if u go back to some of these games he never turns the ball over If he get more run wit the starters he would be way more productive and he would get put in better positions to be effective and score.

Being to skinny is absolutely a detriment. Not being strong enough is part of the reason he can't finish. He could use a little more arc on it but consider this. when he was in high school scoring many points a game I have to believe his shot lacked a certain amount of arch and was still going in. In high school he was able to jump over people now that he has to play against bigger more physical people he can't score. getting to where you want on the court while being defended is absolutely a strength issue. Finishing in a crown is as well.

We not making this about just KJ majority of our turn overs comes from our upperclass TR ST JS and JJ what have ST or JS what have these guys did that so impressive? and we are talkin about sophmore juniors and seniors JJ has been productive love him but ST JS And TR?

ST issues are he doesn't have a high basketball IQ he only passes the ball when he has no where to go he always pick his dribble up he shoots flat to slow to check a guard to weak to check a forward and has a attitude. Them his issues!

Did Rubles shooting improve? He just doesn't shoot 3's anymore. What about Shaq, has his shooting improved? Sanders? Quicker release, better percentage, any improvement? So how is KJ different. Also, a poster mentioned that he shot 23% last year as a senior and 34% as a junior. What makes you believe that he will turn into a good shooter? Everyone says we should recruit a shooter but then say KJ is a good shooter, which numbers reflect otherwise and the trend is that shooters at UC don't really improve.

How are the percentages misleading? He is shooting worse than Rubles did from 3 last year. People on here have seen enough of this season to say it is a lost cause, so how are these numbers any different? Besides, nobody has really improved as a shooter in their time here, and yes that includes SK.

Do you realize that against Pitt, Sanders had 8 rebounds and led our team?

Did you not see us set screens for SK during the Pitt game and he was still triple teamed? He has not been able to create space to get his shot off, off the dribble this year.

KJ fearless? 1-15 from three is not fearless or smart, it is basically a turnover when he shoots a three.

Percentages can be misleading in that the shot you are taking can have an adverse effect on your percentage. Last year SK shot a ton of shots last year that were contested, far behind the 3 point line, and at the end of the shot clock. I dont think his percentage is an indictment of his shooting ability. Im not arguing one way or another on KJ im just saying you have to look at more than shooting percentage to determine if a player is a good shooter.

Shooting as a whole is down in D1 basketball but it seems like UC can't land anybody who can shoot consistently. A guy that comes off the bench or a starter.

Thomas is a good example. If he's put even a small percent of arc on his shot his percentage would go up. Mick has talked about Thomas and his line drive shot several times. I don't believe it isn't getting addressed, I just believe the player in this instance is failing to make the adjustment.

Now being a a good shooter don't make u a good b ball player he got recuited because he can play the game and he understand that's why these last couple off games SK looks the way he do because he's a good shooter not a good play maker u can't be one damentional on the college level coming in as a freshman right now KJ is better than all of our upperclassman as a freshman as when they were freshman.
