I agree. It can't be any worse then Thomas,KJ or Sanders.
Well KJ once again came right into the game and caused a defensive turn over got a steal got a good assist to sanders that he blew that jack had to clean up he got a smart foul off of a JS turn over and didn't see the floor no more we got nothin out of ST or JS I understand they are New York kids so maybe that's why do they deserve to No!

Sanders rebounded well and had a nice finish off of a steal. ST shws great athletism but just can't finish and gets lost defensively sometimes.KJ will be good just needs time. Very active and seems to understand the game.

I'm fine with Guyn backing up Troy. Don't really care who starts right now either as long as in the crunch time TC is running the show. thought guyn played fairly well last night. good d and no TO's. He just doesn't put any pressure on the other team offensively. he actually may be a little miscast in the team. He has a nice touch from the outside. Sometimes I wish MC would leave him at one wing with Troy running PG and SK at the other wing.

The problem is, whenever Mick puts Guyn on the wing, he puts SK at point, which is a huge mistake. SK is much better when he is set up for a good look, generally speaking.

I think we need to go small and get KJ as many minutes as possible.... I simply dont see anything from shaq. Dudes shot is beyond broke. Flat Flat Flat.

before the season started Id say you are crazy, but as every game has gone by all I see is a guy who cant finish layups and turns the ball over. Possession after possession after possession. Him and Sanders have been HUGE busts thus far in their careers

I really don't think you'll see MC give up on ST. He really is the one of the few cats who can get his own shot. He has two years left. I think he'll get better. At least I hope so.

you can play TC at pg and GG and SK at the wings. The reason MC plays SK at the point is because it puts the ball in his hands. Everybody is trying to deny him the ball and he doesn't get enough touches. Against X he took a ridiculous low number of shots.

don't have much problem with KJ getting more minutes but not at the expense of one of our strengths that being offensive rebounding. As the season unfolds I think you'll see him get more minutes.

Quality is better than quantity. If Mick would give TC most of the PG minutes, he would have his struggles, but it would also provide another scorer to take the burden off of SK and to help SK get more high percentage shots. I don't care if SK scores less, I want him to get good looks instead of the tough threes at the end of the shot clock.

Don't agree. You don't have to waste the shot clock getting him the ball and it's easier to have him drive off the screens. You can clear a side for him as they did last night then when he drives the help defense will free up others to crash the glass. Exactly what happened last night. Not saying we should make him a PG just in key situation situations it isn't bad having the ball in his hands.

It's fine every once in a while as a change up, but SK is no point guard. The reason he isn't getting open is because he is our only consistently viable scorer, if we can develop the younger guys so that they can take some of that responsibility off of him, I'm all for it. We haven't had a true point guard in quite some time. Cash was great, but he wasn't a true pg. Caupain has the potential to be the true point guard that Mick has never had, and if we let him get more playing time, he can iron out some of his flaws and, hopefully, show good improvement over the course of this season. If we continue to see lots of Guyn and Sanders, nobody gets better, as those guys have maxed out their limited potential. Guyn is a tough, hard-nosed player, but he makes dumb decisions and just isn't very skilled. Sanders has his moments, but he is way too inconsistent and I don't see it getting any better. As much as I want to win this year, I would rather see the young guys like Caupain, KJ, Lawrence, and Shaq develop. If we try to just go for the "win this year" approach, next year will be pretty bad with no SK, JJ, and Rubles. This is a good year to start building the core for a possible tournament run in a few years. At a school like UC, winning year in and year out is hard, so why not focus on the future so that we don't have to worry about who will be replacing the seniors.

UCalum08's posts during the game yesterday essentially read like this: No, No, No No, No, No, No, No, Yes.

LOL. I just read this thread and found it all extremely comical. Nice guess on the score NTS. On the money....or close enough for me.

JJ there is a fine Line MC is trying to walk. Develop the young and make the Dance. Foul trouble also dictates minutes. Your also not going to endear yourself to your players my saying the heck with this year will play for next. Your seniors won't like that and neither will your JRs. Players earn there minutes. They are not given as part of a wait til next year.

Well, it isn't really even a "wait til next year" approach, considering how bad our offense is right now. It's a "can't be worse than what we've got right now" approach. Guyn and Sanders are inconsistent and MC should have a shorter leash with them than he does with the freshmen. Freshmen are going to make mistakes, and while it is okay for Juniors to make some, their play has been sub-par for as much time as they've had in the program. They are the problem, the freshmen are the possible solution, both now and long-term.

don't have much problem with KJ getting more minutes but not at the expense of one of our strengths that being offensive rebounding. As the season unfolds I think you'll see him get more minutes.

I understand your point here but I'm not sure we lose much rebounding by giving more minutes to the frosh. TC has a nose for the ball and KJ is pretty athletic. TC is averaging the same amount of rebounds per minute as ST at .13. KJ right now is at .1 KJ is averaging the same pts/min .27 as ST and TC .35 is ahead of both. JS is averaging .18 reb/min and slighly less pts/min .25 than both TC and KJ. GG is at .08 reb/min and .31 pts/min.

KJ started out like 0-15 on 3 pt shots but is coming around a little at 3 for his last 8 which is 37.5%. I think JS and GG are trending the wrong direction at about 30%. ST has chosen his shots wisely and has knocked them down at 50% although it's a small sample of 6 shots.

There are plenty of minutes to go around but I wouldn't mind seeing TC averaging around 25 minutes (right now at 19.6) and KJ averaging around 18 minutes (right now at 13.2). That's about 5 minutes per game more for each. Then just back down the minutes from GG, ST, and JS by about 3 minutes each putting ST at 19.5, GG at 15, and JS at 15. From there we can tweak it a little for who is playing the best ball.

Help me? Lol I think your head is water logged.

It was probably logged with a little more than water last night (lol)...my apologies.

I still believe SK has a lot of weight on his shoulders so this should be taken into consideration when he has two defenders on him a lot. He doesn't have the easy open windows he had in the easier games when everyone could score on their man. IMO the burden lies on the rest of the team and the coach to produce so SK doesn't think he has to do it all.

The most important thing it means is that we didn't give up a single easy basket in those time periods. Not 1. Whether we fouled to avoid it or not, that is a good way to win.

The other thing we did was limit their possessions by taking forever when we had the ball and then getting an offensive rebound about half the trips. I wonder how many FGA's they even had in those stretches. Not a ton.

I thought the same thing. There were a few times their offense beat our defense and we put a good foul on the guy to keep them from getting the shot off. Even if they made the free throws, it still hurts their psyche of not hitting any field goals.
