I am with LL on this one. It is inaccurate to say they do not play defense. There are several teams in the league who are very good defensively (Lakers not one of them!). The fact is the NBA has a lot of really, really good shooters so when they do get an open look they always seem to knock them down.

The NBA is cyclical. We are in a high quality time for the NBA. We haven't seen this much talent in the league, in their prime (or close to it) since the mid 90s.

Do you watch alot of NBA?? Ill assume not.

SK is a 6'4 two guard.... with little handle and little to no athletic ability (in NBA standards)

SK is a college guy, a college great... He will go down as a big time scorer in the history of UC. But his game will not transfer over to the NBA. To short, not quick enough, not athletic enough, not young enough.

Honestly I don't watch alot of NBA for various reasons. My point was not to say Kilpatrick would be a good NBA player. It was more that his lack of dribble, which is most people's main criticism of his game, I don't think is as big a problem in the NBA than college because you see more one-on-one and quick shots in the NBA. Kilpatrick gets himself into trouble when he dribbles into traffic. That usually isn't a problem in the NBA. Kilpatrick has worked on taking his man off the dribble and that's what would help him to be a good NBA player. In my personal opinion I don't think he is quick enough or athletic enough to be anything but a spot shooter in the NBA. And unless you're deadly shooting there's not much room on an NBA roster for just a shooter. In fact I don't think I've ever seen him dunk the ball. I'm sure he can, but he always lays it in. His lateral quickness is too slow and his size is nothing special. I still firmly believe that his draft stock will be better after this year than when he is a senior. NBA scouts takes on seniors are they are a finished product. I don't see Kilpatrick improving much in the next year, other than maybe his shot getting better, and him as a finished product is not NBA material. With that said a guy that scores 18 a game in the best conference in college will get a look somewhere.

High-quality basketball?? Gotta listen to drama queens like Lebron, Kobe, and Carmelo who don't give a crap about their teammates and are some of the most self-centered people on the planet. There is nothing team about the NBA-if they want to capture my attention, shorten the season and actually call traveling and allow zones and no crappy rules like "defensive 3 seconds." The NBA hasn't played real basketball since Magic and Larry.

First of all, Lebron is as unselfish an NBA player as there has been. Second, they are allowed to play zone. Third, defensive three seconds opens up the lane for amazing athletic plays. Frankly, I think college basketball should adopt this if they are really concerned about scoring. Won't happen though. Boeheim would be out of a job. You should really watch some games before you start spewing stuff that isn't true.

They play defense during the post season. During the regular season, they play with the intensity of a dead gold fish. Everyone just sort of floats around. They take 5 steps and don't get called for traveling, if you breathe on a star player it's a foul and if you can actually make it through the long ass season they have, the players you become familiar with, go to different teams. The only real winners are the big city teams. Those places with higher income are inherently more likely to win championships and get great players. That being the case, whats the point of watching if it's more or less rigged?
It blows. They do the lottery, then players get traded before the season even starts. The whole thing is just stupid and un-enjoyable to me.

I am sorry for you that you can't appreciate good basketball.

If by good, you mean flopping, inconsistent officiating, the same 4-5 teams being better than everyone else by a wide margin and a lack of actual team play sure. It's grand... There are better individual players but the quality of the product has been suspect since early 90s.

They definitely play much more individualized basketball and the effort isn't on the same level as college basketball. However, the players are so talented and make it look so easy that it can appear worse than it is.

I also think many people would feel different if we had a team here in town. My friends in Indianapolis still can't figure out why I love watching the Reds.

The NBA makes the Winter X games and NASCAR look exciting. Each of these have one thing in common, I can only watch about 2 minutes of each before becoming incredibly bored. The NBA shouldn't have refs if they aren't gonna call anything, the Commish is an idiot, and whoever came up with the lottery is dumb. It is a way different game than college basketball-selfish streetballers like Lance can be good in the NBA, whereas great players that we all like, I.e. SK and Cash, will most likely do nothing in the NBA.

I think Larry Bird has done a complete 180 on Lance. He is nothing like the player he was 3 years ago. Lance looks like a complete basketball player now, starting majority of the games this year. He is very unselfish and averaging almost 3 assists per game. But I am like most people, I can only watch very little at a time. It seems I can only games that are close and in the 4th quarter. Everything up to that point is a little boring for me.
