Ok, so I get it. He needed to get experience out of UC just like Mick Cronin did when he left for UL. There is a bit of a difference though. Does anyone see KC as a head coach in the future? I ask this solely because of his age. MC was a young guy, great recruiter, and on the rise in college basketball. I don't think I can say the same for Coombs. Maybe I am wrong. It wouldn't be the first time. What are your thoughts?

Follow the Money

I think it is another case of plundering by the boy up the road to take recruits in this area. I am sure a pay raise also was a part of the deal.

I have no issue with Kerry going to OSU. I dont think it is a huge loss. Certainly not one we cant replace. Excited to see who the replacement may be.

Traitor!!!! O$U once again and shows their true colors and were scared of us keeping good local players so they just try to keep us down. Keep trying suckeyes you can't stop our movement.

They're certainly trying....

Kerry Coombs is a good guy, but his recruiting and coaching abilities were overvalued IMO.

Ohio State has their pick of the kids in this area with or without Coombs, that is why this move doesn't make much sense for the Suckeyes unless they think they can groom him into a HC some day.

any ideas of who uc might replace him with? could it possibly be another elite high school head coach in cincinnati?

Wouldn't mind seeing them go after Steve Specht from St. X if going that route. If not, maybe get someone who had success in the NFL?

Specht has turned down a number of college coaching offers dating back several years now. I don't see him ever jumping to the college ranks...and if he ever were to do so, it would likely be once all of his kids were of college age or adults.

I agree. I loved his passion and enthusiasm, but I honestly never saw much improvement out of our d-backs to say he was great. He obviously showed he could win at the high school level, maybe coaching defensive backs wasn't his strong suit. As far as recruiting goes, other than maybe Colerain players I don't know how much pull he had. From what I've heard alot of local coaches never liked him too much, so I don't think he would help sway a coach to plug UC to their players.

I would love to see Steve Specht but i dont see it happening. I think getting a former nfl player who is well known would be good for recruiting

Don't blame him. OSU will be monsterous under Urban. Can't blame a guy for wanting to be a part of that. Not to mention the pay raise.

Doug Ramsey is the best high school coach in the country in football. I am a Moeller guy too. Having said that, he is a QB coach.

Basketball Carl Kremer is the Tom Izzo of college coaches.

I can blame him. It's making a deal with the devil. Take the $ and sell your soul.

BUt I have faith in Butch Jones that he will continue to get it done without his subpar DB coach (but fantastic recruiter).

If your employer did not give you a promotion and a week later a competitor offered you $100,000 more than you are making with your current employer would you take the job?
