Mick Cronin deserves some credit here people. He gets hammered in losses and nobody wants to step up and give him credit when this team wins. He simplified things for Cash, and he's been tweaking the line up to get UC back on track. Most importantly he was able to keep this team focused during a terrible span where they could have folded. Instead they played the best game they've played all season. He also manged a major player issue that easily could have completely fractured this team and last night Yancy play within himself and was productive and contributed.

The Bearcats now have 20 wins. If you'll be honest most of you didn't think that was possible at the start of the season. Many of you had given up on this season all together. They are squarely on track to make The Dance and now have 3 very solid wins over other teams going there as well and have climbed back to 45th in the rpi.

For all the Mick bashing that takes place it's time to pat him on the back. Well done Mick! Proud and happy for you and your team!!

Hell of a game last night, really really impressed. Wish they would play that hard all the time.. they are ncaa tournament caliber and they proved it.. Louisville looked just like one of the CUPCAKES UC played in the regular season.. They have talent but never the will to win.. They had it last night and that is a product of the coach.. Good job Mick. Mick just like the players could of just as easily quit but they kept fighting.. WHOS NEXT?

As you said Jeff Cash stated Mick told him to stop thinking so much and just play... we saw both an aggressive AND under control Cashmere Wright last evening... a combination that has been few and far between in his young career but he showed last night he has a promising two years ahead of him.

Yancy Gates got back on track last night, the question is can he sustain it? Saturday's game is VERY big. We need that kind of effort and passion and my question is can he bring that on the road against a lesser opponent? I'll be interested to see if Mick sticks with bringing Dixon and Gates off the bench Saturday or not.

Props should be given for a very good game, a very good game plan, and a ton of effort by the players. Now, the danger of saying this can be done on any game completely discounts what the other team is doing. I am not sure that this type of play would have changed the outcome of the St. Johns game based on their game plan of shutting down the paint.

Yep, he had a great game plan and motivated the guys to play. Great to bounce back from the low.

Hopefully, he can keep it going.

Good observation. Too often we blame a coach without giving the opponents credit for their part. Mick said he was sick for two days after the SJU loss. He also said they deserved credit but UC certainly gave them an assist. What I have seen from the players since the Syracuse game was a team not together, who took a punch and didn't punch back till it was too late. My hope is that they realized last night that it is ok to hit first and hit hard. I also hope it sinks in that they need to trust what the coaches have put together for them to execute and just go out and play hard and together. They were 16-0 because of teamwork. When they play together they are really good. When they become only parts instead of a whole they aren't very good. They still play in the Big East and as JT3 said after losing to UConn last night the margin in this league is very thin. Stay focused and go on the road and beat Providence. My guess today is that Mick is telling his kids this very thing.

”We’re in a fine place, but I can’t worry about it,’’ Thompson III said. “The margin is so thin in the Big East.’’

In the standings he’s right, with the difference between third and eighth just one game.
per ESPN

Our Bearcats are part of that equation.

i like in the article how they say coach cronin will keep his job, which is a good thing for bearcats fan. how can the outside see he is good but not the fans?

It's all that psychology stuff- yanno it's easier to see someone else than it is to see yourself. They're removed from the situation and don't have the emotional investment we do as UC fans.
