How do we put up 18 points quickly then end up with 23 for the half. I wish Cronin would start taking some responsibility for this offense because that is embarrassing. We will not win many games with our inability to score.

Outrebounded 28-27.

4-10 from the charity stripe.

UC took 15 more shots than MU at a 41% clip. MU shot 47%.

UC allowed MU's leading scorer to get 28 pts and 12 boards. Unreal.

The offense looks lost most of the time.

That kid on Miami is ridiculously good. Where did they get him? Not only the best player on the floor last night, but actually looked much more talented than anyone we have as well. Probable NBA player.

I didn't really think the offense itself looked lost. We got a ton of good looks through ball movement. It would help if we would make open shots and layups though.

No one puts up big points on Miami. Don't get too caught up in the total points.
However we have the starters to compete with most teams in the country but our bench is no where close.

Enough. They put up 54 against Presbyterian and 56 last night. Its ok to admit this team has a terrible offense, not going to sugar coat it. Tired of the excuses. Whats going to happen when Syracuse rolls in. Will UC put up 30??

You have to beat these fools convincingly. Screw the game plan and the x's and few o's. Its flippin Miami, Marshall and Presbyterian. They seem so tentative and afraid to make mistakes. Go out and dominate!!!!

So tired of the excuses

Agreed^ How many times do we hear from the players...we think we are better than the other team after getting a lead so we let off the gas...I swear I hear that every single game. One would think they would learn after the first 20 times they say that. Grow the F up.

Probably will be another loss in their first road game of the year on Friday, followed up by a pounding at the hands of X (may be close for a while).

As long as we score enough points to win I really could care less. Yea we don't have a great offense everyone agrees but its all about defense and as long as we are holding teams under 50 we are going to win almost 100% of the time. Last night was a good test against a hard nosed well coached team.

What? If they put a lid on the hoop.

Thats not going to happen in BE play

No one is arguing a win is a win.

Georgia is horrible, UC will have no problem with them.

I'm not quite sure how it can be argued that we're any less horrible than Georgia. We've lost to Presbyterian and Marshall (if one more person tells me Marshall is good I'm going to flip out).

Our team looks bad, really bad, and we certainly don't look like we're ready to go up against the bigger name programs and we're clearly not ready for the Big East grind. We'll see if this team can get things turned around.

Apparently Jaquan Parker is going to be the answer to all of our issues.

I'm just waiting for the players stage another mutiny against Mick (just like last season) and start to play the way they did at the end of last year.

You can dislike the way they are playing and the coach as much as you like, and I might even agree to a large extent, but your last statement was beyond idiotic.

Then you tell me what it was. I watched this team play the end of last season and saw the ball move on offense and saw Yancy dominate games under the hoop. If Mick had his team playing like that at the end of last year then why are we back to seeing the same things from this team that we've seen his entire 6 years coaching career here?

The final month and a half of last season and Big East tourney 2 seasons ago are the only times during Mick's tenure I've felt like I was actually watching a real basketball team. My thinking is that the players took matters into their own hands . I said the same thing last season as I'm saying right now.

It's been clear to me since the middle of Mick's 3rd season that he isn't the right guy for the job. I have to pussy-foot around the issue on message boards because someone will ban me for speaking my peace about the issue but let's be honest with ourselves for once. Mick is a clown, he's an average coach at best. He's not the guy who's going to take us to the next level and I'll never be satisfied with mediocrity like some of the people I've seen on these boards.

The ONLY thing that will change my mind is WINNING consistently. Making the tourney 1 time in 5 tries DOES NOT make you a great coach. I know his situation sucked walking in, but 3 years should be enough to turn things around. I'd love to have a local guy like Mick have a ton of success here but he's never shown me any reason to believe he's going to do it.

Say what you want, call me crazy or say I'm a Mick hater but I'm really not. I just hate LOSING, I hate that our program has become second place to XU and I hate that all Mick does after every game is make excuses for his team's poor performances. I'll tell you one thing, they wouldn't put up with this kind of crap at UK, UNC, UConn or a number of other places. The fan bases there expect to win, no excuses, win or you are out. When did our fan base stop expecting our program to be elite?

My thoughts exactly. Although I will not call for some one's job, the man needs to step it up. Taking responsibity after losses or under performing would be a huge step.

I wanted to poke my eyes out after I read him complaining about the 2nd half defense for the reason they lost against Presbyterian. No Mick, it is your inability to motivate players and put them in position to succeed. If you want YOUR team to perform for you, you have to protect them as well. It's a two way street.

Last year, there were some good things, and thats why this season was supposed to be the turning point for the program. Well, bottom line, it has been a joke so far. Mick needs to right the ship. He obviously got the job because he has shown potential, now take that potential and do something with it

UCBearcats, if you don't think Mick is the right man for the job, fine. I think he is doing a slightly above average job and thought the NCAA's were necessary last year. I also think they are necessary this year. But saying that the team led a mutiny and started playing well despite the head coach is a completely ludicrous thing to say. Seriously, just think about it for a second. If you truly believe your statement then I will stop arguing with you because that is how dumb of a statement it was.

ready2go: the offense sucks, no doubt. It pisses me off it sucks so bad. But at the end of the Presbyterian game the defense sucked as well. Even with their bad offense, had they played half-way decent defense they would have won the game. Offense is a lot tougher to coach and even with a great offense things can go wrong such as missed open looks that can lead to a bad game. On defense it is pretty much doing what you are told and busting your ass. That is why you see the majority of coaches complain about the defense more than the offense. There aren't too many excuses for bad defense.

As for accountability, it sounds like you've never heard Mick during a post game. I wish he sounded more pissed off and wish he was a little better with the media, but after both the Presbyterian and Marshall losses, he blatantly stated that he accepts full responsibility for the losses.

I read his postgame just fine, thank you. What exactly does he blame himself for? Telling the guys they are going to get their butts kicked???

I'd love to play for him.

He blames it in the public eye on lazyness and youth. Youth???? Here we go again, more excuses. He also goes on to make a remark about ONE possesion Killa should have brought the ball back out. Then says he knows that. OK, so if he knows that, why is he doing it? And why are you calling him out??

And for Pete sake. The game was lost because UC scored 54 pts. NOT because Presbyterian put up a WHOPPING 56 pts

One more thing.

Blaming the defense is an easy scape goat for a coach. Because defense is more about hustle and will to execute and be effective

Mick's philosophy with this team is to win with defense as the team is lacking in shooting ability. The only guy on the team that could be considered a scorer is SK.

Georgia is not very good and X has showed nothing for one to believe they will pound UC. UC beat Miami by 9, X beat Miami by 6.

And why is that Ralph?

He is the recruiter. Why in year 6, are we hearing the same excuses for the lack of offense?

How many college basketball teams have you coached? This year's team is quite different from last year's team. Motivate? I have no idea where you get that. You cannot motivate someone to make a shot when they do not have the ability to make shots. This team is going to have to win with defense.

It is not an excuse if it is true, the team is not doing well because of exactly what Mick stated. Mick is stating the facts he is not making excuses.
