Mick a Candidate for UNLV?

Cronin is 3-8 in conference/NCAA tournament games in the last 4 years. If UNLV pays him $3M, it is what it is. Again, I'd prefer he stay bc I like our players, but at some point it just isn't worth it. No need to desperately beg. The prospect of hiring a new coach makes me nervous, another reason why I'd prefer Cronin stay...but what can you do if they break the bank for him?

alright, there have been at least 2 buzzer beaters and a 75 foot heave that account for 3 of those losses. Lets have a little perspective.

I have to say at this point I am fairly indifferent about the whole thing. It's always risky to make a new hire but as long as the university does it's due diligence I'm not too worried about it. We have a lot to offer.

One thing is for sure (for me anyways)...I don't feel like we have had a legit "contender" in over a decade. I thought this year was one of our best chances and we didn't even crack top 25 by end of season.

I'm not much of a risk taker but I would be fine with looking for greener pastures at this point. It's a chance I'm willing to take to see if we can get back to some of the elite eras that have passed.

Perennial top 10 teams with better NCAA seeds and more legit hopes of advancing to later rounds in the NCAA tourney.

Not stirring the pot, sincerely asking...what is the longest amount of time we've been ranked in the Top 25 in both polls under Cronin in a season? I think it was 6 weeks this year, I'd imagine SK's SR year was the most. But we're hardly a fixture. And if UNLV wants to pay him Top 10 money (Top 2% in the sport), what can you do? I don't see that as an indictment on anyone involved with UC.

I agree with that. I was talking more about the statue though.
He well own that own if he delivers what he has here. They are starved for any kind of winner. I lived out west when the rebels where at there peak. One of my favorite teams. Very sad to see them fall off they way they did. They also had a brand. They were the bad boys of College hoops back then. They'll support him and spend money. The only draw back for him will be their conference affiliation. The facilities are in place. HS players flock to the city to play in tournaments in the summer. If I'm Mick I'm running to get to Vegas. The fan base and Administration are played out here. If they feel like they can do better have at it. There is a poll on Lances web site that has his approval rating at 60%. LOL!!! I'm burning rubber to get off that campus.

You act like Lon Krueger era never happened. They were just as good as we are under Mick just a few years ago

Waite, I'm trying to let you off the hook on the statue thing. C'mon man!

this administration hired and kept Mick game fully employed to 2.2 mil a year. There are those who would argue that they didn't know what they were doing with that hire. Being a legit season in season out contender requires a commitment form the university. Not just coaches salary but facilities. This isn't the same culture as 20 years ago. Hell its not the same world as 20 years ago. But then again my experience with my hometown tells me it takes us a bit longer to grasp reality.
