Mick a Candidate for UNLV?

I'd like to see a return to a tougher man to man defense and ditch the zone save for certain times during a game.

They did score 73 points a game this year. Not terrible. The offensive flow wasn't great and needs to be improved. The defense was fun to watch (minus the struggles guarding the corner three). I think they are getting there. Evans is gifted offensively. So is Troy. Gary needs to be more assertive but he has offensive skills. Cumberland by all accounts is a good offensive player. It has been said that Kyle Washington is a better offensive player than defensive player so there is hope of continuing an upward trend of offensive production.

Uh oh....is he the next Deberry??? 12 minutes a game because of his defense?

What I don't understand is why Mick went away from man to man. What led to the switch? Ironic coming off a really fantastic first year in AAC.

Yeah, this is not correct. Mick is not Bearcat basketball.

Here is what I would like to see. Facility improvements (locker room and arena), private jet for recruiting and 3 years after completion. Then, and only then will we be able to say for certain whether Mick Cronin is the guy or not. What is going on now is the like the sports definition of insanity. Keep doing the same thing over and over (no funding improvements, etc) and expect different results (winning bigger). Just doesn't add up no matter who the coach is.

I'd love to see all those things too, I agree 100%. Just my take on things in general but if a coach wants all those things then he has to justify it by raising the bar. You call it chicken or the egg and I call it the way the real world works.

I couldn't disagree with your last sentence more. The right coach could do wonderful things here regardless of getting those upgrades and your can bet your bottom dollar that if that coach accomplished those great things he'd get everything you listed above and more.

If he does leave would LD be able to keep this team together. Remember before Evans signed Cronin watched him in Vegas.

Talks with Mick Cronin to become next #UNLVmbb head coach getting heated. Has reached level of regents. #RJnow

If Mick leaves, watch how quickly those who excoriated him will jump to defend everything his successor does. We could have the same exact season under a different coach and the Mick haters will suddenly become apologists.

X would be totally pissed. They wanted so badly to make Cronin the first coach in the history of UC basketball to lose to them 4 years in a row.

they saying now that unlv is offering in the 3 million range. the thing is las vegas has no payroll tax as well so thats like double what he pockets in cinci

And the same will be true of the Mick lovers downplaying any accomplishments of the new coach. Oh...maybe not. They'll just say they never said Mick was a good coach. They'll disappear under the carpet so to speak.

Sure your right!!! There is actually a part of me that thinks guys who post here are actually closet X fans trying to create certain perceptions. Only plausible explanation I can come up with for them being so adamant in there displeasure for a guy doing a good job. My the time the upgrade the facilities and move to a better conference which I now have my doubts will ever happen X will truly own this city.

I don't think X fans are joking when they say they want Cronin to stay. They have owned him.

He's already the only coach in history to lose three straight times to them...twice. It had only been done once before Mick.
