Mick a Candidate for UNLV?

Frankly, I'm pretty upset at this situation. I'm sick of the naysayers. Sick of the negativity. Sick of the lacking support.

Coach is a great representative of our university and city. There are people who want him here. If you really can't stand him, step back and find another team.

I love UC. Have since I was 7. Went here. Not for academics, but because of the basketball. No regrets. If Coach leaves we will regret it. In a dog eat dog world where coaches bolt, we have someone who wins and values UC MORE than we do.

I think it's time to unite and show the support the team, coach, and university deserve.

I'm a teacher...what do I know about loyalty and dedication though.

It's almost like you don't understand that Mick is the one who's considering leaving. After saying last year he's the only coach in college basketball that doesn't need an agent, and now he's leaving all his supporters in a lurch wondering if he'll leave. Looks like your current problem starts and ends with the man you admire so much.

We have zero say in this...therefore, there is nothing for us to "regret" if he goes.

Sean Miller squashed rumors of his involvement with Pitt in about 15 minutes earlier today. Mick could have done the same and didn't, that's on him.

Personally I'd love to see him leave but my personal outlook has ZERO impact on his decision. Get a grip people.

My response was towards all the negativity. I find the admiration comment admirable btw.

Mick could have dispelled negativity and united our fan base by making us an elite program again. He's failed to do so and that is also on him.

And no none of us are individually to blame but as a whole fan base, yes. people know when they are liked or not. Its been obvious how fans aren't happy hence the fire Cronin signs at the games and I'm sure other negativity he hears and sees. This dude is from the westside of cincy. Its an honor to coach the bearcats this is his dream job. The only way he leaves is if he is fired or so much negativity is sent towards him. He's a family guy, you think he wants his daughter to be going to school when grown men go up to her and talk **** to her about her dad from his home town? Who wants to take this much grief it's not about being a baby or anything it's about getting the feeling of betrayal of your hometown and it's time to move on from something you thought seemed like just that, a dream job. Its a shame and I really still believe he will stay, but can't blame him if he doesn't. It will be a few terrible years and who knows if it will ever get bettrr. I just hope One day we aren't begging to just be back in the NCAA tourney. The perks of the first Jordan uniforms, the no social media sexiness in cincy, and no celeb citings besides a 98 degrees boy band singer is all we have. I truly believe Cronin is doing everything he can in a Snapchat world where drake performs at your midnight madness an outdated gym and a shitty conference, to get top tier players to his dream job school. Good luck cincinnati once he's gone.

Grown men are talking **** to Cronin's daughter? How do you know this?

Also, if Cronin wants this program to be on top, he certainly understands that he can't walk around with zero expectations. We just finished 5th in the conference you guys all say is so bad. We had a 6-6 stretch during the season, and went 0-2 in postseason games. Is it so hard to understand why some people aren't doing celebratory backflips for our coach and program after coming off of results that failed to meet anyone's expectations? Correct me if I'm wrong, but no one was predicting 5th place AAC and 0 postseason wins this year. So if you aren't the slightest bit frustrated with the way this season played out, then that's your prerogative. But many people, including Cronin I'm sure, aren't satisfied with what we got this year.

This is short sided. I'm sorry but define elite? Your definition? How have we fallen short? What constitutes falling short? I'm genuinely asking.

Jake, I get that we didn't meet expectations this year but can't that be said about numerous other teams throughout the last however many years?

I've explained this before but my expectations are to be ranked in the Top 25 consistently, to sell out our arena on a regular basis, to compete for conference championships, to recruit and develop all Americans and NBA players and to achieve 1-4 seeds in the NCAA's on a regular basis. I want sweet 16's and Elite 8's and Final 4's.

I get those things won't all happen every year, and there will be down years mixed in, but I want to trend in that direction and Mick is not doing that.

I'd be happy if we started with the Top 25. Have one season where our team is ranked from start to finish. Create some buzz and excitement and get our fan base fired up again. That would be a nice start. But here we are at the end of year 10 and none of those things are happening with any type of regularity.

I know the response will be that the landscape has changed and we don't have the facilities and blah blah blah. Other coaches are doing more with less every year. It's on Mick to raise the bar and he's not doing it.

Sure. But does that make it any better?

I've said it and I'll say it again, I hope Cronin decides to stay. But I can definitely understand why there is another side to the issue. And the people on that side are not responsible for Cronin potentially leaving just bc they are taking a harder line when it comes to holding someone accountable for the results.

When did I say was satisfied with this season bud? But it did not warrant for this much bashing and a fire Mick. I'm done talking about it because I truly think he will stay but I'm telling you from now if he's gone just get ready to forget about basketball for a few years.

Your last 10 words are my fear.

Not saying you were satisfied. But the bold part is where I think the disconnect is...people respond differently when expectations are not met. This year might just have been the straw that broke the camel's back for some. I mean after all, in 10 years Cronin has never won an NCAA game without SK.

Listen man, I'm not going to debate the merits of my expectations, I've done it wayyyy to many times on this board. Everyone has different expectations and that's fine.

I'm 33 years old, I grew up a die hard UC fan. I grew up around a lot of XU fans and loved the rivalry and the fact that they were always little brother. I loved Bob Huggins, but I'm not some grizzled old man who never gave Mick a chance. When we hired Mick I was 100% on board. After year 4 I started to change my opinion. I'm a season ticket holder and I go to every game and I grew tired of Mick's brand of basketball. I felt then that Mick's ceiling was never going to get us back to the program I grew up with. Mick has done nothing to prove me wrong since then.

I'm not hung up on Huggins and I don't have a personal vendetta against Mick because of the way Huggins left. I just want our program back to where it was when I was growing up and I don't care who gets us there. I have zero belief in Mick's ability to do that. I certainly don't love the fact that we've taken a backseat to XU under Mick's watch and I don't see him changing that either.

Hopefully that gives you some insight into my thought process, agree or disagree I don't really care.
