Mick a Candidate for UNLV?

Pretty funny quote from Pat Forde of Yahoo Sports-

"There is speculation Cronin is leveraging the UNLV job for more at Cincinnati. If so, it's a pretty brassy move for a guy who has played that card before recently and doesn't really have the results to back up a power play."

I think the people who want Mick gone are crazy. The guy has rebuilt the program and if nothing else, we've become something consistent. We expect to be in the NCAA tournament now. Whatever misgivings you have about his style of play, "turtle ball", or otherwise, the guy isn't a bad coach. Were it not for injuries, we would have beaten St. Joe's and had a shot at Oregon - our team was badly hobbled and we were .02 seconds from sending it to OT.

I also cannot believe some were ready to toss him to the curb in favor of Archie Miller...the guy has similar results to Mick in a similar conference. He's Mick 2.0 and nothing to write home about. I'd rather keep what we have as opposed to lose Mick and get stuck with who knows what.

He's right.

I wouldn't want Archie Miller over Cronin either. I'm not all that impressed with him.

Have any of you stopped to think maybe this comes on the heels of his health crisis? Maybe the weather there would keep him healthy? Maybe the pressure to perform at his Alma Mater is weighing him down? Maybe he had assurances that have not happened and he thinks they will not happen in his tenure? We don't know the reasoning involved with his interest in the position.

I said before, maybe this is high level posturing with a free trip to Vegas. We simply do not know, but we are about to find out. I personally hope he stays. I like many of you was disappointed by this seasons results, but we are working toward a mindset of the big boys. Why chase the man out of town? Let him answer for the season. I was very disappointed he did not do the final radio show. It might have shed some light on what was really going on with the squad. Our team should be more transparent and play with what we have and get players to step up when another is down.

If he stays: I mentioned in conf game, there was a point when Clark went down and TC picked him back up while a play was going on. The Cats need more of that and less selfishness. We as fans need to quit harping on bad only and not seeing the good. This was a unique squad that struggled when battle tested....lets work on the psychology of the matter and make them better men! So stronger assoc coaches would carry more load and make better players.

Dave this is not a health issue.

Archie Miller is achieving similar if not better results than Mick at the University of Dayton. I believe he would do even better at a place like UC than at UD. Doesn't matter anyways, Mick is still our coach until he says otherwise. I have a feeling Mick is going to return. Once again the City of Cincinnati will find a way snatch defeat from the hands of victory.

I know he's an Xavier guy but someone threw Pat Kelsey's game into the mix. I was going to bring him up, but I knew him being from XU wouldn't go over well. Doubt he would even take the job but I am a fan of his and his Winthrop squads.

So, UNLV is saying it's a done deal. UC is saying it hasn't even started yet. Perfect. This won't be resolved for days.
