Mick a Candidate for UNLV?

BearcatTalk

all easily explained away by pointing to the budget increases/facility upgrades that it garnered and saying that he was never going to leave but was just leveraging to get things for his program and players.

it's not a hard sell.

16-17 year old kids (and their parents) aren't that nuanced in their thinking. I can guarantee that is going to be the first question brought up.

@cinbinbains underarmour secretly hates Cincinnati. They're forcing out their most loyal coach and convincing the school triangles look cool

Saw this funny tweet. But seriously how is UA getting involved when unlv is a Nike school. It's crazy they are saying they will pay 1 million of his salary.

when my boys were being recruited I was very involved in the process. Especially when we got down to the short list.

What does it say about the situation that on ESPN.com there isn't a mention of mick or UNLV. But they have Dixon at TCU, Dawkins at UCF, and even Sean Miller saying "no" to Pitt?

Their contract is up with Nike and UA is wants to get a major program in the west. They don't really care about UC, they want the $$$.

"i was ******* with the cincinnati administration to get more shit for you guys"

that simple enough?

of all the dumb things debated in this thread, this is really near the bottom. it's an easy sell.

i really think that is how this will play out. I really don't believe Ono wants Mick to leave. If he is in the meeting between him and Bohn I think a comprised will be reached and Mick will stay.

If Cronin stays, L-T will get his custom avatar of Mick as Tarzan.

That'd be ideal.

At this point anything short of him leaving would be an absolute nightmare scenario. Booster support for Mick's program was already spotty at best. I highly doubt this is helping his cause. The only way I see UC being able to meet Mick's demands is if a small group of his influential supports decide to pony up to convince him to stay.

The fan base will be more fractured that ever. Mick set out on this path, it's time for him to see it through.

Let's say Mick comes back, I'm sure this is a fantastic way to help recruiting. Publicly dragging your alma mater through a week of this nonsense. The 5 stars will be knocking at our door begging to commit.

I'm not so sure. If he's fighting a a private jet for recruiting an can see some guys liking his style.

If ua is willing to pay 1 million of his salary, why can't they buy a plane for cronin. Let's say cronin is hired for 5 years, pretty sure you can get a pimp plane for 5 mill, no?

I hope they don't, but the whole ua thing is very strange to me

I usually don't respond to your brand of ridiculousness but I know you're smarter than this post. Ono has already publicly stated he wants Mick to stay, Bohn does too. IF Mick is retained and his so-called demands are met that decision won't be made by Ono or Bohn. It will take one or more boosters to pony up more than they already are. So you can bet that if its true Mick has demands and is open to staying they're working the phones as we speak.

Without additional booster support any proposal made by Bohn or Ono would require BOT approval. Really any proposal will be subject to BOT review but if there's no additional private money it will be a hard sell.

The only real issue I worry about with Cronin leaving is the potential to lose Clark, Cumberland, Evans, TC, or Washington. I care about those guys much more than Cronin....I understand they aren't mutually exclusive.

Perfect scenario is we keep everyone and upgrade at coach. I think Ono is very committed to our athletic department and will pay for a good coach. Let's keep in mind we are paying Cronin a lot of money and can probably pay more for the right candidate.

Am very familiar with how BOT's work. By Ono publicly saying he wants Mick to stay you can rest assured the BOT is on board. He already knows what he can offer Mick. The trick will be getting him to agree.Either that or he is less informed then you. Please feel free to not respond to my post your response are not really that interesting. Go back to making jokes.

Hate to disagree but the perfect scenario would be retain the coach, land in big 12 and upgrade facilities.
