This isn't a good look having the home town coach running out.
People make stupid decisions....i.e. Buzz Williams.

Archie Miller is achieving similar if not better results than Mick at the University of Dayton. I believe he would do even better at a place like UC than at UD. Doesn't matter anyways, Mick is still our coach until he says otherwise. I have a feeling Mick is going to return. Once again the City of Cincinnati will find a way snatch defeat from the hands of victory.
Better how? A single trip to the Elite 8? Didn't they get trashed by Syracuse this year? Archie isn't a bad coach, but his results are literally not better than Mick. They're basically the same. You're trading one guy with results you constantly complain about for a guy that...has the exact same results. But hey, that makes sense.

This situation has been compared to Herb Sendek at NC State, he had similar success but only made 1 Sweet 16. He left to Arizona St and NC State hired Sidney Lowe. Both were worse off. Hopefully we don't end up hiring our Sidney Lowe if Mick bolts...
I don't want Van Exel as a HC yet. I want him as an assistant and as someone who can probably recruit really well.
He was nationally on the hot seat before that first tournament year. I remember making a thread about it...Just looking back at really old threads to see what people were saying back then. In 2010 there was a funny thread that could be copied and pasted today:
"As the word came out of UC today that Mick Cronin would be back next year, the Bearcats fan base gave its standard angry reaction. People seemed puzzled or even shocked.
As if everyone expected Cronin to be gone this year?
First off, everyone understands the frustration within the program. Everyone there is disappointed by the results of this season and hoped for better."
Some things never change I guess. The sky won't fall if we lose the coach.
Another 2010 thread:
"UC appeared to move better on offense lately, but still rely on outside shots instead of going to the basket. I think they could utilize Bishop, Wilks, and LS better to give them opportunities to slash to the bucket. Also, a much more concerted effort to get Thomas and Gates the ball inside in a position to score. More movement, more screens, and more passes inside. This will all open up open outside shots."
Copy. Paste. It's crazy.

Looking back, here's a gem from Mick before the 2010-11 season...
"We are back to normal now, just last year we were on the wrong side of the fence," Cronin said. "We lost five or six games where, if they go the other way, we are wondering, 'Is he going leave, because they are offering him jobs. He is 39 years old, he rebuilt Cincinnati, he fixed all their problems,' so it goes both ways. That is part of my business. That is never going to change."
