Just got a text from my buddy who lives in Vegas saying "rumor has it mick is on his way to UNLV". Trying to see what people out there are saying. I still find it unlikely

Prove it. List the data. All of it. Not just what you want to fit your agenda.

Here's my data that i care about. 10 years one sweet 16. 1 shared conference title. 0 conference tourney titles. 6 straight tourney with a 5 seed as his highest. 3 years in a row with first round losses to creighton, harvard, and st. Joe's.

And I love when people say "get anyone"...id love to see the influx of recruits lining up to play for an unproven coach in a weak conference.

Purdue! PURDUE! YOU FORGOT PURDUE!!!!!!!!!!!!

My UNLV friends response when I told him people on the message boards are praying for it: "fans don't like him or want him?! Who the **** do they think will be better"?

Sad that an outsider can see it more than our "fan"base

Lol.....just go read old posts dude. I'm not typing it all again. All you guys can counter with are his 6 straight NCAAs and then you start searching for anything else that you can throw out there. I only really have to post 2-3 items....recruiting and attendance and discounting ticket prices. Those three trump any of his minuscule accomplishments. I can name 10-15 other things and have done it over and over. Just read the old posts.

The administration once made us buy season tickets to football just to get our basketball tickets. This in the same pathetic arena that we have today. And, we sold the place out. After 10 years of this incredible job of Cronin buildup, the administration has to cut ticket prices to nothing, to get people to come. And we still can't get 10,000 people to come to games. And many of the people attending want him gone. I could go on for two or three more paragraphs but you've heard it before...or maybe you haven't. Those with an agenda ignore the facts.

So if we give him a pass on the "bad luck" shouldn't we take away credit for beating Purdue? Oh wait, that doesn't fit the agenda.

I can't keep up!

I want Cronin to stay bc I love some of the players he has brought in. I will very much enjoy watching them next year. If he leaves, I'd like to get an asst from a top coach. Is that a reasonable stance?

Who says uc would hire a unproven coach? Uc might just hire someone who brings his class with him.

That's not why you keep him. You keep him because he has made the NCAA Tourney 6 years in a row. He is the winningest coach under the age of 45. He graduates his players. They actually go to class (looking at you, Xavier). He is a great ambassador for the University. He wants to be at Cincinnati and is not looking at it as a stepping stone dispite being in an average to below average conference and having average to below average facilities.

I would trade not making the tourney every year for actually making a deep run every couple years. I could also care less if he graduated players, I'm a fan of u.c. bcause I'm from here and graduated from there, not because basketball players graduate at a high rate.

Go ask Chris Mack, Sean Miller, Archie Miller, Shaka Smart, Brad Stevens, Mark Few, Thad Matta, and many others how they did it?

Bingo! That was a perfect example of a list of almost meaningless accomplishments. Like I said...after his overrated 6 tourney appearances...their list is an attempt to find pure minutia to make an argument.

I'm pretty sure Larry Davis proved last season that you can literally get anyone to replace Mick and get the same results. The good news is that a new coach might actually bring new recruits and a new style of play. Maybe he'd bring in a shooter or two, I know that sounds crazy, but it's possible. Maybe he'd also get more out of the current roster than the current head coach does. (See Larry Davis).

You can even throw huggins in that mix. He had what, 2 years at akron before got here?

Worked out pretty well for both sides.

And you can ask 100 others who failed miserably and set programs back years the same question. If I knew for sure we could get the next Sean Miller or Brad Stevens Im with you L-T. Mick Cronin's performance has not made me want to take the risk of going after a Sean Miller and ending up with a Josh Pastner.
