For all those of you who keep talking about facilities, what exactly does that mean?? There's really only (2) facilities issues I could see having any impact on recruiting.

- If the locker room is not up to snuff that is something that needs to be resolved. A recruit will see a locker room during a visit and I could see that having some effect on their lasting impression.
- If the arena had a new lighting system, sound system, scoreboard and a better ability to put on a pre-game presentation I could see that having a big impact on recruiting. All of those things will be included with a renovated 5/3rd.

Facilities people, please tell me what I'm missing from my list.

Sounds like cronin raised the money then it got delayed regardless. At least the locker room portion.

it could happen

I really think that Cronin is trying to rake Bohn on the coals. When this story came out it did not make sense - (Timing, G5 school, geography) and I thought he may be taking this to the extreme to get better facilities and amenities but also to show fans and the public how much Bohn screwed up and could be ultimatum either Bohn or MC survives at UC.

Patrick, Bohn is doing a good job raking himself over the coals. He don't need Mick's help.

So let me get this straight because I'm a little confused with multiple inputs

The #1 reason for recruits coming to a school is...

1. Relationship with coach
1. Best chance to make NBA
1. Pretty amenities
1. P5 conference
1. Championships (best chance)
1. Playing time
1. Style of play
1. Close to home
1. Getting paid under the table

At least there is only 1...lol

I was just trying to make the point that amenities are probably down on the list of what a recruit is looking for. But it probably varies recruit to recruit so you'd like to have the best of everything, including Coach because it's the job of the staff to sell a kid on whatever they have. If they don't have any point guards you could obviously sell a PG recruit on playing time. If you've developed NBA big men that's a sell to that type of player. Just guessing, but I'd say it's probably still primarily a people business. Nice practice gyms only get you so far.

So mick is whining about not having a jet, yet he uses one all the time?

So, I was curious about this so I did a little research. Here is approximately how much it costs per hour to have a chartered plane:

Some other examples of prices come from Avinode, which gathers a large amount of data on the charter marketplace. Their recent data shows the average price per hour including taxi rate + fuel surcharges, for various aircraft including:

Midsize Jets

Citation X $4,897
Hawker 800 $3,763
Learjet 60 $3,305
Heavy Jets

Falcon 900 $6,085
Gulfstream IV $5,632
Challenger 604 $5,023

http://www.sherpareport.com/aircraft/cost-charter-private-aircraft.html

So, based on this, and if you assume 4 hours round trip for a recruiting trip, and assuming no cost for waiting around which probably isn't true, Mick spent $100,000 on chartered flights, or 5 recruiting trips. Not much in the grand scheme of recruiting trips.

Damn, nice research! Not much at all.

By comparison Calipari spent close to 500'000 in a year.

I also just thought of this. Especially in football, this is why UC has been a "stepping block" for coaches. UC is either unwilling or unable to provide the resources like the Big schools do for their coaches. That's why our football coaches leave. Well we finally have a guy who wants to stay with us and make us a power in a sport but yet he is getting his chain yanked on receiving those resources. Maybe that's why the admin loves TT bc he doesn't give a rat's ass about anything. Time for UC to starting backing up those resources or we will forever be a mediocre program hoping to succeed with less.

the unlv beat writer said mick is now flying home on a commercial flight.

that doesn't sound good for unlv to me.
