Big surprise.

It was pretty entertaining watching all those Bearcat fans that talked about Mick's loyalty to the program get their panties in a bunch over internet rumors though.

Well done Mike and Mick deserved an extension after last year. The program will have to continue to be successful for him to have truly earned it though.
My panties are just fine, thank you very much. Oh well, 3 more years of Louisville Mick but I see it this way. At least I wont have to worry about Thomas bringing Gillen to Clifton any time soon. That is a plus. Go Cats!!!

Good, then help Lobot and a few others out please.

I know this isn't the first time you've heard this, but I figure I'll try it once more. Mick is a Cincinnatian and a Bearcat through and through. All in all, he has spent 10+ years in Clifton (at his alma mater, I might add) as either an assistant coach or head coach of our Bearcats, and 30+ years in Cincinnati as a resident. He was at Louisville for 2. Calling him Louisville Mick is not only incredibly petty and small-minded, it is ignorance of the highest degree. "Oh, somebody spent 2.5% of their life in Louisville! Their name must henceforth be prefaced with the name of that city!"

By all believable accounts, Mick's dream job is and always has been to be the head coach at the University of Cincinnati. Counterintuitively perhaps, though it proved to be brilliant, he left Huggins to bring him closer to that ultimate goal. Why would you fault him for that?

You should jump on the Mick Cronin bandwagon. We're all having a great time here. We'll welcome you with open arms.

Actually it is going to be about 25 years more, Mick is UC's guy for a very, very, long time.

Incorrect! Again, Ralph. They tore up his existing contract and he's in for 1.25 mill for 6 years from now which is 2016-2017.

I would bet you on that, but I don't know if you will be alive for me to collect the winnings. Seriously, how many programs have a coach who have been their head coach for 25+years?

Syracuse for one. Schools keep future hall of fame coaches like Mick around for a very long time.

Mike Thomas is quoted in the Enquirer article stating Mick would have received the extension even if the team had not made the NCAA Tourney this season. Good to know UC is 100% behind Mick.

Mike Thomas:

“I do know that a lot of stuff gets out there and to be honest it’s more fiction than fact,” Thomas said. “I can’t control that. I don’t think there’s any doubt that he wanted to be at the University of Cincinnati.”

Thank God for a voice of reason.

UC pays more than NC State, Gotfried hired for $1,200,000 for 5 years, Mick got $1,250,000 for 6 years from UC.

Lobot, what happened to the $15,000,000 for 7 years you said NC State was offering that you played chicken little with on the internet Saturday?

You on Cash Wright's no speak to list?

You should make at least a little attempt to find some verification for what you read at BCL before making an idiot of yourself all over the internet.

I found the information independent of BCL. As it turned out we had the same source. The 7/15 number came from the Raleigh paper and was confirmed by multiple sources. No, I am not on Cash's " no speak list". We exchanged several direct messages on Twitter that you were not privy to. Nor will you ever be.

If you only knew.

A great time was had by all at the basketball banquet tonight. The seniors as a group were named MVP. Mick said I love you to all of them.

Ahhhhh...so nice for the kids. The senior class MVP sounds a bit like elementary school basketball. ;)

The 7/15 number was clarified by the school. They said it was a number given in response to inquiries about the job and to demonstrate their commitment to the basketball program. They went on to say that though they responded to the "inquiries", plural, that the issueing of those numbers were not an offer and in no way should be thought of as an offer. Think this is a thread that has been Ralphed. Gonna close it. Seeing that pattern again....
