It is the same in basketball HOWEVER alot of time offensive sets aren't even run because of the speed of the game and flow. I played in high school and AAU (against mayo and bill walker which was not fun) and you have a certain type of offense you run. We ran a motion type offense (melvin levitt's team) but at times we ran no sets because of game situations, speed/flow of game, or defensive changes. It comes down to execution by the players.

I agree with your offensive input

But,

When players don't execute, it is your job as a coach to make it easier for them to do so. They have no off the ball screens, little movement and little passing. It is usually the 3 player weave at the top of the key or Cash waiting for a high ball screen.

If Mick doesnt want to run sets, then why not run the floor! They did when Micks hand was forced after the X game, but since those 6 games or whatever, you dont see it much

Did Walker dunk on you? If so, be proud

Butler has a good coach? How is his record this year now that the NBA players are gone? Good players make good coaches, all coaches know the X's and O's, it is the quality of the players that wins and loses games.

Have you seen that team play?

I could live with Mick, if I saw basketball and not streetball. Stevens has a gameplan and sticks with it. He doesnt change his philosophy based on the opposing team. Just like any school, when you lose talent like that, you have to regroup. For Mick, its been 6 years

Lets get one thing straight here and quite frankly this is whats getting old.

The Mick Cronon "bashers" do not hate Mick the man. They (we) disagree with his coaching strategy. They run a 3rd grade offense and rely on hustle and D to win games. What coaching is being done?

There are a few guys who have improved under Mick. Parker, Gates (although very inconsistent), and Killa.

On the other hand, I thought Cash would be a top 5 pg. Vaughn got worse as his career went on. Bishop was the same. LS got worse as the season went on. Thomas brought little for being 6'11.

The budget has nothing to do with the abiltiy to coach. Nothing

Defense is coaching, and I think Mick does a pretty good job coaching D. Offense definitely needs improvement.

Bishop definitely improved. Can't believe anyone would say otherwise. He wasn't very good at all early on in his career. Not to mention he was a recruit no schools really wanted so I'd say Mick got a decent amount out of him.

Lance was playing the best ball of his college career at the end of the season, so again, what are you referring too, or is your memory that bad?

Vaughn didn't become as good as some of us thought, but then again he was recruited over Oakland (Michigan) University. Maybe he really exceeded his potential.

Dixon is a disappointment, but then again I told you all this before the season started and no one wanted to listen.

Cash I thought would be much better. Tough to say if it's because of his multiple knee surgeries or just his development.

Gates is the same. Thought he should be dominating by now. I was hoping Mick and co. could get through to him, but he is still having his best year as a senior.

I'm concerned that Mick may not be able to get the players to make this team elite, but he has done a very good job with the little talent he has had over his short career.

Actually he almost did HOWEVER I did not try to take the charge and was yanked from the game. Coach Mel asked me why I moved outta the way and I looked him in the face and i quote "Look coach I dont wanna end up on a highlight reel like some other white kids did on yours". He laughed, agreed and sat me down. But thats when Bill was skywalker and the dude has RIDICULOUS hops I mean dunking almost from the free throw line in the game with ease and some windmills and reverse dunks thrown in there. I ALWAYS thought he was a better ball player than Mayo but its sad to see what the knee injuries have done to his vertical. But by the way we lost that game 121-56

For a guy given the nickname Born Ready and a sure top NBA pick, to go 40th overall, he sure did imrpove downt he stretch. Give me a break. James White, who couldnt even shoot went 31st

Your opinions are not even relevent

- Cash was never going to be a top 5 pg but has improved each year.

- Vaughn did not get worse. People figured out he was the only decent player his junior year and his senior year we had other options besides just him.

- Lance was Rookie of the year and you could argue played his best ball in the Big East tourny - hardly faded.

- No way Bishop was the same player that he was as a freshman. Crazy.

- You're right with Parker, Gates, and Killer improving.

What type of offense do you want? It is no different than 90 % of Big East offenses. No it isnt Missouri or UNC but it is fine.

Ok, Ok...keepin it respectable

Yea, I kept hearing people say Walker was better than Mayo when they were in highschool

Lance was drafted 40th overall because he couldn't shoot. I know you are likely to blame Mick for this but that is something Mick didnt have time to teach. Also, Lance committed very late into the process and for not having much time to work with him I think Lance had a very very good year. Maybe his legal issues and previous immaturity had a factor?

No team dribbles the air out of the ball beyond the 3 point line. There is no movement, at all. There is no off the ball screens. It is streetball. If he wants to play this style, then why don't they run the floor. They did after the X game when he had no choice, but not since

As for Bishop, he was a solid defender. He was early on in his career. His offensive game, I will give you he became more efficient, but did not stand out. He was just there

LOL you can say that i guess. But yeah Walker was a MONSTER inside and had a decent outside game while Mayo took stupid shots all day long.

With all due respect, we really dont have a DOMINANT offensive player. Killa is a very good shooter but average slasher, Dixon has no shot whatsoever but is a good slasher. Need all around offensive players to look great on offense.

Most likely.

Would it be any different than Mick Cronin blaming LS and Vaughn for offensive struggles? Dont you guys remember that? He said there will be more chemistry withought those 2 and more ball flow. Then he put all the pressure on Killa

This is exactly why I feel this team needs an offensive set. Especially if you are not going to push the ball and rely on the half court offense. They need something to buy into, other than creating off the dribble

This is true but your guards have to earn your trust that they can handle the ball well and make good decisions and other than cashmere wright we dont have a guard right now capable of that.

What we really needed was Lance to stay 3 years. He could have learned to move without the ball. The shot would have been better. It pains me when I see him with the Pacers.

Imagine:

Cashmere
Lance
SK
Jackson
Gates

With Dion, Park, Cheik off the bench.

We would have our go to scorer/slasher in Lance. SK would be able to set his feet all day and bust zones.

Why lance... WHY:confused::mad:
