It is the same in basketball HOWEVER alot of time offensive sets aren't even run because of the speed of the game and flow. I played in high school and AAU (against mayo and bill walker which was not fun) and you have a certain type of offense you run. We ran a motion type offense (melvin levitt's team) but at times we ran no sets because of game situations, speed/flow of game, or defensive changes. It comes down to execution by the players.

But,
When players don't execute, it is your job as a coach to make it easier for them to do so. They have no off the ball screens, little movement and little passing. It is usually the 3 player weave at the top of the key or Cash waiting for a high ball screen.
If Mick doesnt want to run sets, then why not run the floor! They did when Micks hand was forced after the X game, but since those 6 games or whatever, you dont see it much
