Probably should go on the recruiting forum,

but here are some recent tweets from Chad about these two:

Deshaum Morman and Jamaree Strickland are both starting classes today at #UC. Not out of the woods yet, but in class and on scholarship.

Hearing that #UC freshman Deshaun Morman has been ruled eligible for this season. Big news. #Bearcats

Once players are officially part of the program, I would say it's more appropriate to post here.

And that is certainly good news.

I knew we had questions regarding Morman and his eligibility. I didnt know Strickland had eligibility issues. Anyone have any word on that and why he wouldnt be eligible ?

Was there any merit at all to speculation about Deshaun Mormons eligability? I feel like people just made that up as the rumors went along...

Heard it was a similar issue as Shaq Thomas... on scholarship this year but may have to red-shirt. The fact that he was in class this morning at least means he is on scholarship I think.

Somebody's going to redshirt, given Mick's track record. He's had a redshirt every year. I'd say it's Mormon, not a lot of minutes behind Shaq and Sanders.

Kevin Johnson or DeShaun Morman are the redshirt possibilities, IMO.

I agree. I think Johnson is the most likely candidate, as he will be transitioning from SG to PG. Morman is such a good scorer and could contribute right away, IMO. Johnson has skills, but I think he has more to work on initially than Morman does.

unless Morman is better than Sanders.... then what? Johnson?

... Out of the 3 freshman guards, I am least worried about Morman being on the floor. He's physically more mature and a real threat to penetrate. Something that without Cash this year, we just don't have. Given our shooting woes, I hope Morman gets some minutes.
Also good to hear about Strickland, I hope he's worked over the summer on his conditioning.

If I were mick, I would RS Sanders, to me he needs more work but eventually could prove to be a solid player for us with a RS

I agree, I think Morman has a chance to contribute this year. I recall during Morman's recruitment that it was discussed that he might be the most ready of the freshman to defend at a D-1 level.

I don't think anyone will redshirt, nor do I think they should. With such a young roster it's hard to predict who will and won't adjust well to college ball. Plus you can never predict injuries. I don't know why we assume he will redshirt someone. Other than Kilpatrick, which honestly I think Mick probably regrets redshirting, he's only redshirted players that were just physically not ready. One thing I can just about assure you of is he won't redshirt Sanders. I get that most fans seem to not like him, but he is a junior at this point. And if he were bad enough that Mick doesn't even want him on the court he would have asked him to leave, plus I doubt he'd want to hold a scholarship a year longer on a player he deems lost (which redshirting him would be giving that message). Truth is Mick likes Sanders. He wouldn't have played him as many minutes last year if he didn't. Sanders has experience. He might not have progressed like we had hoped and the freshman might end up being better talents than him, but Sanders still has a role on this team and has two years under his belt.

I agree but disagree at the same time. Sanders won't be redshirted, you are definitely right there. Redshirting a junior is almost unheard of, especially since we have a lot of young players coming in. I disagree that nobody will be redshirted. Mick said that he regrets not redshirting Parker, he openly said it. Redshirting SK was not really a bad idea, we had plenty of guards that year and I think it helped SK. The injuries point is not a valid point, either, as you can always take the redshirt off of someone during the season, they just lose their redshirt status. Morman or KJ will be redshirted, NTS is right. I like Morman a little more at this point, but either one would be a good candidate for redshirting.
