I love Guyn and think he will be great, but no way do you take him and Cash and flip their minutes. Maybe Guyn gets 5 more a game, but not 30. I love his defense but he gets sloppy with the ball under pressure. He needs more time to adjust to the speed of the college game.

I agree...I don't think this freshman is prepared to lead us to glory. If we need to spell Cash more to keep him fresh so be it...there are other ways to do that without putting the rest of the season in the hands of a decent but not great frosh.

Its a tough decision, but my first thought was starting Guyn as well. You may not have to start him though. With Cash, its pretty apparent early on whether he's going to have a good game each night. They need to have a quick trigger on giving Guyn minutes if Cash isn't playing well.

With that said, Depaul would be a strange game to try anything there. Cash would probably be able to penetrate anytime he wanted against their defense. It really is an awful defense. I don't see too many other options though with the lineup. Maybe giving Gaines more minutes and Mbodj less, but that would be minor.

Regardless of rotation changes, I think Cronin is already on the right track for how to "fix" the offense. Play more aggressive defensively and try to play more in transition. Sometimes that is easier said than done, but I think its the right plan at least.

I'd like to see Gaines get more minutes. You are getting nothing from Mbodji or Jackson offensively so at least put Gaines in for energy and rebounding. As far as Guyn goes, there has to be a point in time where you make an effort to stop the opposing pg from doing whatever he wants. I'm not saying give Guyn 30 minutes a game but he would be a far cry better defensively. Cash's offense is up and down. Maybe he'll play better coming off the bench and watching the flow of the game. Cash is one of the primary guys that you have no ideal what his motivation level will be at game time. You can't have that from a point guard.

I think Jackson is really improving his inside game tremendously compared to last year. He passes well and is really starting to make moves to the rim. I love Gaines, but JJ is showing me more than him right now. On the other hand, I think Gaines should take minutes from Cheik, he has not shown me anything close to what I expected to see and has been disappointing.

More reason to get Guyn more minutes. When they get to the BE tournament, Cash isn't going to hold up for 2, 3, 4 days in a row. Mick needs to start utilizing his depth.

I said it earlier. Make an AD Jackson to Nick Van Exel move. No, I'm not comparing these guys to those guys. But I think a similar move needs to be made.

Put Guyn at PG for 30+ minutes. Use Cash as his backup for 5 to 10 mins.
Stick Yancy in the low post, and give him breathers by using Mbodj, Jackson and Gaines to back him up.
Then, for the other 3 spots, rotate Cashmere, S K, Dixon, Parker, and Davis III. The ones who play defense, rebound, and give you the most offense, get the most minutes. Rotating 5 guys gives you a chance that 1 or 2 will be "hot". Also has Cash playing off the ball and not guarding the other teams PG. Also allows you to play Cash less minutes.

That is my lineup and I'm sticking to it. Guyn is the far better defensive player and Cash can't keep up with opposing PG's anymore.

Mick isn't going to sit Cash in favor of Guyn. After the brawl and the resulting streak Mick couldn't stop talking about Cash and how he stepped up and assumed his role as the leader of the team. That was a few weeks ago, nothing has changed since then. Just because we laid an egg on the road to Rutgers doesn't mean Mick is going to sit Cash.

These kinds of drastic moves are not what we need to focus on. Mick just needs to pick a strategy and go with it. The 4 guard worked so we need to continue with it. Mick just needs to let these guys play an open style of basketball and quit trying to micro-manage every aspect of the game.

Mick has barely scratched the surface with jj but its encouraging to see his development.

With that said, hes very raw offensively, needs ti get bigger in the weight room, and needs to put himself in better position defensively so he doesn't foul as much. Mick knows this and jj will with hard in the offseason
