Butler is in the freaking title game. Sad day for college hoops. A team that dominated a piss poor conference and did nothing in a OOC schedule. Wins for OSU without Turner and a controversial win verse Xavier who wasn't playing their best ball. Oh they did beat UCLA by 2.

8-4 still in the OOC.

They beat a Cuse team without their best big man and a MSU team without their best player.

The odds of me watching a fairly low. I will probably go out and play basketball.

No one can tell me that we are seeing the best college basketball has to offer by watching Butler.

Butler is the best of the mid major conferences and are talented without question but no way they are a top 10 team in college hoops.

The ratings for tomorrow nights game will be interesting. Butler is a feel good story, and with Duke being on the other side, those who despise may watch to root against them. A Butler-WVU final would have had very poor ratings. Like it or not, the tourney needs the top seeds to do well as more fringe fans would be interested in watching great matchups rather than an unknown team playing. I think the tourney that had George Mason in the Final Four also had poor ratings, but at least they did not make it to the finals. Tomorrow nights game also doesn't do much for me, and I will watch only until the bludgeoning begins, likely the first 10 minutes of playing action.

How are they not a top 10 team? They were ranked pre-season 11. They just beat syracuse, k-state, michigan state. Keep in mind MSU didn't have their best player for a lot of the tournament, but managed to beat a team who beat someone that everyone thought was the best team in the nation, and they also beata hot Tennessee team.

I would say Butler had played a much more difficult tournament schedule then most teams, including MSU. Went through a 1 and a 2 seed to get to the final four. If people still think Butler is a Cinderella story they are kidding themselves.

They are Cinderalla. They proved it by their OOC. Won a tuuuuurrible conference. Beat a tired K-state, beat two banged up team in MSU and Syracuse.

Pre-season is lame and there is a reason they dropped out of that when they played some decent teams from decent conferences early on.

They earned it within the system. This is when I think the BCS works.

So then you would have discredited anyone that came out of the Kansas or Syracuse bracket then? MSU was hurt, Syracuse was hurt, Kstate was tired. Pretty much anyone that came from that side of the tournament didn't earn being there there? Thats ridiculous. Make all the excuses you want about Syracuse K state and MSU, they were all still pretty good teams that Butler beat. If anything, they were screwed on the seed they got. To limit Syracuse to close to 50 points I think it was, is damn impressive.

Try to deny it all you want, but this is why the NCAA tourney is the best. The best teams generally win, and it's not decided by some computers or media. It's decided on the floor, and Butler went through one of the more tougher roads to get to the championship, yet you still try and discredit them. Like it or not, they are one of the best teams in cbb this year.

No the best teams do not win. That is my problem. I know when I watch Butler I am not seeing the best college basketball has to offer. Most of these Butler guys were not recruited by the top teams. Most will not make the NBA. They will not be able to retain their coach.

Everyone enjoys the Northern Iowa's beating Kansas but I dont like seeing the little guy go all the way.

HA. I'm sorry they don't pass your eye test. But a team they did must have passed your eye test. How much more can you reward a number 1 seed? They were given the easiest path, and they lost. Sorry, but I don't feel bad for them. Just so we are clear, you would rather have had the four 1 seeds have a mini tournament?

As for Butler, I think your just focusing on the name. I think they have 2 NBA players on their team. If Butler wins the championship tomorrow, would you agree they are the best team in the country? If not, then your delusional.

No. I dont care about tomorrows game. If they win they will still be a top 25-15 team that got hot and lucky at the right time.

The odds of me skippin basketball to watch that game is decreasing. I will not be watching the majority of the game.

You must really hate Butler or something. A team that beat two 1 seeds and a 2 seed on their way to a national championship isn't worthy of a top 5 team in the country? I would imagine if there was a different name on that jersey, you would grant them national champs.

Maybe you just hate Lance McAlister(sp?) who I believe is a butler alum, if that's the case, then you get a pass.

For anyone who is not excited about this Final 4, I don't think it is a case of hating the teams that made it that far. It's just that in that half of the bracket, one would be hard pressed to say that Butler or M. State were 2 of the top 4 teams this year. Both were seeded 5 for a reason. If you take away Kalin Lucas, M. State would have been a 7th-8th seed. That doesn't disparage what they accomplished in the tourney, just that someone who follows college basketball closely may feel they have no business making it that far. Now if UC had made it, it would have been that the team came together at the right time.:)

Tomorrow's game is THE NCAA tourney championship game not THE national championship game. College football has it right, skip the tournament, have the #1 & #2 teams play for the national championship.

You may find that Black Ops agents from the NCAA may be visiting you soon based on that post. That ruins the whole NCAA tourney. Besides the AP #1 going in has NEVER won the tournament and the overall top seed in the Tourney has rarely won it. #1 vs. #2 would be counter productive for everyone.

College football has it right?! Are you kidding me? I think of all sports, they have it wrong. Unless of course, you believe that all sports that has a tournament style ending to declare a champion is wrong.

I love that college basketball is about getting your team to play its best ball in March. Every coach and person who follows basketball knows that the season is about getting your team stronger for a tournament push. The tournament style ending gives every team a chance. Every team to work out its problems.

I think that the college basketball champ may not have been the best team the whole year, but they certainly have to be in the mix for the best team at the end of the year, which is the case in nearly every sport besides college football. How many times do 1 seeds not get to the championship in NBA/NHL, do you think that is unfair too?

In the NBA and NHL they are playing best of 7 series, not lose one and your done.

What game would you rather see tonight, Kansas vs Kentucky or Butler vs Duke? I am of the opinion most college fans would rather see Kansas vs Kentucky, the two best teams play.

The NCAA Tournament is just that a tournament, it produces a tournament champion, not necessarily a national champion. When a team that does not win their conference regular season championship wins the NCAA Tournament, which has happened, how could they be National Champion when they are not the Champion of their Conference?

Kansas had a chance, as well as KY. They didn't get it done, and were sent home. At least in hoops, there is a tourney, as opposed to football, where it's more arbitrary.
Both systems have flaws, as I would do away with conf. tourney's, and have limited access into a NC playoff.

I've heard a contingent push for this... but do you really want to get rid of the Big East Tournament?... UCONN/Syracuse would have never happened... the fun run that UC had this year would have never happened... Conference tournaments are fun and a reward for the players, especially those who aren't going to be seeing postseason play other wise.

I'd rather have the regular season mean something. Why play the games? Just go straight into the BE tourney. If all a team does is play for a seed, who caresif they finish first or fourth, fifth or 8th?

Butler has played tremendous team defense and schemed very well for each match up. They hit open shots and play fundementally sound basketball. They have high basketball IQ and playa cerebral style of play. They are NOT the most athletic and struggle with the "eye" test.
To the OP, with all due respect, if you knew more about the game of basketball at the college level you will see that it doesn't take the fastest horses sometimes the smartest ones can get it done.
As an excercise pull up their first few tournament games and notice the plays they run on defense. Each package is set up and changed based on what the opponent has on the floor and are trying to run. They also control the game pace well and use it to their advantage.

You hammered? One, busting out cerebral!? Do you know the meaning of this word?

Two. This will be the most boring game in the history of basketball. Why? Because a bunch of non athletes, like yourself, are playing. You claim to know "college basketball"... I claim ill beat you one on one, on bearcatnews. You went MIA, no response. You talk a big talk, but what makes you the basketball legend? Cause that title has been claimed, by me.

I'm rooting for Butler, but I think Duke wins by 12.

If it's close down the stretch, then Butler has a chance. One of the best teams to finish (obviously, since they haven't lost in 2010) I've ever seen. Taking notes on what to work on, fellas?
