I think we will see a better looking offense, similiar to what we saw in the Providence game. I do believe there is some validity to Mick's comments that he believes they will play better now that they are outside their league.
This is not a tough team, not mentally nor physically. Georgetown simply outmanned UC. This is not a typical Cincinnati team in terms of toughness. Oregon and Iowa State are free flowing offenses and I believe we will see a UC offense similar to what we saw when we played those teams. Maybe not as efficient due to Cash's health, much better than in league play. Match ups in this tournament are everything in terms of who advances. The better team does not always win. I think Mick is thrilled with his draw. I think in the bottom half of the bracket Michigan State is the worst match up for Cincinnati.
No, I'm not predicting UC to the Sweet 16, I'm just saying I like the match ups of the first two rounds and think they benefit UC's chances of making the sweet 16 in this tournament. Which team shows up, the one from the first half of the season, or the one from the second half? Some where in between, consistently, may be enough to win a game or two if match ups are right.
The bottom line is that UC has to have 2-3 guys in double figures every game, get bench production and have someone outside the big 3 step up nightly. It can be collectively or 1 player but somebody has to score if one of the big 3 are off.
The Bearcats have to attack. Creighton will turn the ball over and they don't force turnovers. Attack the rim and attack them defensively.
Kilpatrick and Cash have to scorers and not just try to be a shooter. He has to get his points without having to shoot 3s and hoping he is on. Go at the basket and draw and get to the line. This is huge if Creighton goes on a run and UC is missing shots. Shooting and making ft's can be a run stopper.
