I am not kidding when I say I would abuse SK if he guarded me. He bites on every pump fake.

I like sean and maybe he should start but there is a reason he hasnt started just yet.

The team really has no identity at this point.

In the early season all the 3's were falling. The press was very effective. And we were speaking of a transition game for the first time in Cronins era. Now, the 3's aren't falling, I dont see much of a press and the ball gets walked up the court.

They seem lost on the court offensively. All of the screening and dribbling leads to contested jumpers or acrobatic layups. It doesnt help that there isnt much if any of an inside game right now.

At times Gates thinks he's Larry Bird and goes for the fade away instead of taking it strong to the hoop.

Thomas tried to bring sexy back, but forgot the receipt... The 3 foot hook shots arent effective anymore

ND has a smart team. They know the weaknesses of UC and exploit them. We have Wilks who has been around 'forever' and still gets a foul a minute.

I'm still trying to figure out when the last time UC actually had an identity.

2005.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Tyrone Nash and Ben Hansbrough led five scorers in double figures with 13 points each and injured senior Carleton Scott made a surprise return for No. 16 Notre Dame in a 66-58 victory over No. 25 Cincinnati on Wednesday night.

Reserve Sean Kilpatrick scored 16 points, including seven straight with 7 minutes, to play for the Bearcats (16-3, 3-3 Big East). Cincinnati made three 3-pointers late and used an 8-0 run to close the deficit to five points with 1:12 to go.

But Notre Dame (15-4, 4-3) went 7 for 8 from the free throw line the rest of the way.

Out since injuring his hamstring in a Jan. 1 loss at Syracuse, Scott hit both shots he attempted, two 3-pointers.

Hansbrough, who was 1 for 8 from the field, finished 11 for 12 from the free throw line. Tim Abromaitis added 12 points for the Irish.

Yancy Gates had 13 points for Cincinnati.

After shooting less than 20 percent from 3-point range in two straight road losses, the Irish got hot at home against the Bearcats, connecting on 7 of 14 from long range.

Notre Dame started the game 1 for 8 from the field, but hit its next six shots during a stretch where Scott entered for the first time. The Irish used a 15-2 run to take a 10-point lead. Another 8-0 run near the end of the first half helped them to a 14-point halftime lead.

Coming off a rough shooting performance in a loss at Syracuse on Saturday, the Bearcats struggled again, hitting just four of their first 22 shots. Cincinnati finished shooting 38 percent.

Eric Atkins and Scott Martin each had 11 points for the Irish

This is the first game that I truly feel horrible about this season. It was a very winnable game and frankly UC should have won. I don't care how hard it is to win on the road, or that ND is 45-5 in BEast home games there. This was a winnable game!!

The game plan was terrible. I place this game at the feet of the staff and the head coach. I was floored when I saw Cash gingerly walking the ball up the court to start the game and token or no pressure.

Our low post players continued their sterling rebounding and Thomas had another donut, while Gates hits 6 of 16 shots. Meanwhile, you keep 1 of your 2 consistent offensive weapons on the bench for the first 8 minutes of a half in which you score a total of 19 points. This game was completely mismanaged and the game plan was so backward it could see it's a$$.

There is no excuse for not speeding this game up and pressuring ND. None. The blueprint was there for you and you failed to use it and failed to make any adjustments to cure your road ills . I support you Mick Cronin but you own this loss. Swallow it hard because I know it's bitter. It is for those of us who had to watch it last night as well. This was a winnable game you and your staff left on the floor.

He tried to put pressure on them early! When they beat the press it lead to open three point shots! You can't press with Yancy,Thomas or wilks! They do not have good basketball IQ! Yancy is lazy! The team he has in the future seems to be a good pressing team with Jackson! The players he has know can't put pressure on my 80yr old grandmother! Thats because of the big guys!!!!! When you press you need a shot blocking big guy in the back, like a Corrie Blount! We don't have one! He is playing with cards he has and it's not Big East caliber!

That's simply not true. You don't stop playing your defense because it gets beat a couple times. Under that logic he would have stopped playing man to man when Kilpatrick got beat off the dribble.

There are issues that need addressed. Gates/Thomas have a total of 10 rebounds between them and only 2 offensively. As a team they are outrebounded again. Biggie comes in and gives you 3 solid miniutes and never sees the floor again. He had 2 rebounds in that 3 minutes. Thomas gives you 0 points and 5 rebounds in 20. Yancy gives you 5 rebounds in 32 minutes. Make the change!! It don't have to be Biggie but it has to be somebody. Thomas is not getting it done.

I agree with you about sitting Thomas! The cats went down by 10 with the token pressure early! We truly don't have the big men on this team to compete in the Beast! If we had the shot blockers we had in the past when killa got beat he would had help! We don't have a shot blocker, maybe Biggie but he doesn't have quick feet!

Yes!

Especially when thats the style of play you have been doing all season. Thats why I was still optimistic about playing the early season success. Wanted to see what was going to happen when the team played against adversity and how they would react.

You cannot allow other teams to dictate how you play your game. You have to play the style of basketball you have been playing all year that got you to 16 wins.

They were pressing the crap out of teams, had a transition game and were hitting shots. That has all gone to the wayside now that they have faced adversity

I believe also that when they press the offense tends to run better and they make more shots. My theory is they are more into the game and not pressing to make the shots, just taking what comes to them and also they get better shots because the offense gets started as soon as they are down the court, and everyone is mentally in the game and pumped up.
