I'm gonna go ahead and bet that we drop out of the top 25 tomorrow afternoon. Not a good weekend for the Cats. Even with a solid road win against Pitt, the BAD loss at home against St. John's is still fresh in everybody's mind

We will drop to 22-23. But we will stay in til we lose to ND. Then we are gone.

At this point I don't really care because obviously this team can't play hard when they finally do get national recognition. Which is an extremely hard statement to make when you start basically 4 seniors. That shouldn't even be an issue but sadly it is every year. I probably wouldn't be as frustrated if our 2 losses didn't total a whopping 2 points.

It's early January. Cash, Parker, and SK are very experienced. This team will get better by March.

That said, I agree with a lot of comments I've seen about Cronin's offense, etc. And we've now seen 2 games where the opponent dictate the style of play.

I want to panic, but the recent past show that Mick has been able to get his team to improve and peak in March. So I'm hopeful.

I'm not too hopeful about next year though. Could be a rough one.

So you would be less frustrated if we lost by a combined 20 pts? Time to back of the ledge a little bit. Our team last year lost lost to Presbyterian and Marshall and yes St. Johns at home last year. That team went on to the sweet 16. Have they been frustrating to watch recently? Yes. Is it time to right them off? Hell no. Its a long season and we have good veteran players with a good coach. I have all the confidence in the world they will get it figured out. Its all about March in college basketball. This team will be one of the toughest outs in March. Some poorly played game at the beginning of January will not matter. Stay behind Cronin and the troops. It will be more fun when we win.

I hear ya, and I'm not saying our season is over etc etc. I too believe we will be better in March because I believe in Cronin. But yes, losing two games by a total of 2 points hurts. I would have rather us just got blown out just from a mental side. But in reality I guess it doesn't matter because a loss is a loss no matter the numbers.

if it wouldnt hurt national coverage/recognition to not be ranked, i wouldnt be too upset if UC fell out of top 25...the team plays better when they are the under dogs or "not respected"...i do not see them falling out, but dropping into the 20s...

It also would be nice not to have to deal with the bubble discussion this year.

Surprised they only dropped to 21. Maybe the Pitt when carried more weight than I thought, but I am happy with the ranking and can't complain about it one bit.

About what I expected. Dropping 7 spots sounds about right. Big game tonight.

Are any regular season games in college basketball "big"? College basketball has become a tournament sport, winning your conference, AP, ESPN rankings, record, etc. do not seem to matter. All anyone wants to remember these days is how well you did in the NCAA Tourney.

Yes.

well if you want to make the tournament then you need to have a good regular season, so all of the regular season games are big........

What does everyone think about if we will still be ranked or not after this week. ND losing to UConn doesnt help. Not a big deal to me if we aren't but I always like to see a number next to our name. Makes the Cats seem more relevant.
