Shaq has been VERY INCONSISTENT in 2yrs. Still name 1 player out of 12 which has been not just as consistent than him but MORE consistent.
I want to say Sanders but his defense slacked off last year. Starting get beat off dribble everytime he got into game.

my point is shaq isnt consistent, you just agreed with me.

What is the point of any of this?

It could be argued TC is more consistent
It could be argued that JS is more consistent.

If you look at all of their game by game stats they all did about the same thing. So if you are trying to argue shaq is the most consistent, like I said, it could basically be argued that anyone of the returning players is more or just as consistent

Again, Im confused at what we are discussing here. Shaq isnt consistent is the point, not who is more consistent than an inconsistent player.

I don't go off stats I watch games. You keep saying Shaq is inconsistent I TOTALLY AGREE. Now quit ducking my question. Which player on our team is without a doubt more consistent than him. JS is one of Mick's favorite players who plays same position as Shaq, why don't he start? TC was consistent I can give you that but he lose points by not being consistent enough to take Guyn spot.

im done..you win. good god man. I didnt duck a single question. you arent making and still havent made a point. You agreed with me just to disagree with me.

the fact you said you dont go by stats makes it so you can never be wrong. And I still dont even know what the point of this is. All I said is shaq is inconsistent and then I looked at stats to JL and TC and they are MORE consistent than shaq. Its all in the numbers. If you dont look at numbers IDK what to tell you. But if you cant use shaq and consistent in the same sentence like I said before, I dont even understand your question...But i guess ill give the answer of anyone and everyone returning as more consistent... and im knocking Shaq. Same as Jay Bruce. He is very consistently inconsistent, but I still love him

Im done you win

You do realize the only players returning with actual playing time (not counting Lawrence) are two frosh and two under acheiving seniors right? Throw out the freshmen in this argument since they haven't had a chance to show consistency and you are down to just 2 role playing seniors.

Thomas winning by default isn't going to make for a good argument.

That being said I think his attitude and role will change DRASTICALLY. He will now know that he might be the best player with experience on the court. Last year, he probably wouldn't have been as confident and therefore didn't assert himself. He had JJ and SK to rely on. Unless we have some superstars coming in...Thomas will have no other choice than to try to get some shots off and that's EXACTLY what we want and need him to do. I see a big year for Thomas.

LOL I totally understood what your saying. I think he does in my opinion he be visibly disgusted when he gets taken out game or don't get ball. Once again name 1 player who has been more consistent than Shaq?

again, you are turning this into something i am not saying, therefore i do not think you know i am saying. i'm not going to argue who is the most consistent performer on the team. that is not the point of my statement. again, you are turning this into physical consistency and not mental consistency.

just because he is more consistent relative to returning players doesn't mean he has the attitude of an alpha or a guy to take the offensive reigns of a team. that is what i am saying. being upset when you leave a game doesn't make you an alpha.

I think this year we find out if Thomas has it in him...the Alpha dog. He was a soph last year with three pretty good senior captains. It was not HIS team and there was no sense of urgency or confidence that he was the one who had to make things happen. He will be one of those guys this year and Cronin will use that to see if he can light that fire. If Thomas will accept the challenge...he could be fun to watch.

Hopefully Mick has it in Shaq's head that he needs to be putting up double digit FG attempts every single game.

Waterhead, hope your right but the kid has been here 3 years and he looks to be the same player he was when he got here. He can help the team but he isn't a difference maker in my mind. He'll give you the highlight and then disappear. He also needs to work on his physical condition.

Im basically agreeing with EVERYTHING thing you've said for 3pages now. I just want you name one player in your opinion that you can say without a doubt is more consistent and would be better leader. Its no right or wrong here I just want to know who that one player is in your opinion.

He gets that by default this year. That's why I thinks his our leader this year. He was only returning player that wasn't afraid to play with Seniors last year and take shots. Its not really shooting from him that I'm worried about with Shaq, its his rebounding that needs to improve.

You can see in big games Shaq was our best player at times. Just think he needs to get in better condition so he can dominate entire games and not in stretches.

I agree about his rebounding. Seems like he could get 5 more ppg just by hitting the offensive glass harder and by playing into contact.

Shaq has a lot of things to improve on. First and foremost is his physical condition. He needs weight and he needs to be stronger. He is three years into program and he hasn't made much progress. He needs to attack the rim and finish or draw fouls. Mick has commented concerning his attempting shots with high degree of difficulty and coming away empty. He has to make the shot or draw a foul. Anything less is a turnover. His Rebounding is abysmal. He actually had 0 boards in 20 minutes against Louisville. One of the biggest games of the year and he comes away with no boards. He has trouble expending energy on defense. If you play for Mick and don't guard you don't play. Saw it reported his attitude in practice needs improvement. He has good hops and his short range pull up game is nice. For my money I would like to see JL challenge him for minutes at the 3 with Ellis and DeBerry playing the 4 and 5. Round out starting 5 with TC at PG and KJ at the 2.

I completely agree Waite. I remember Mick saying in a coach's show that Shaq had to run every time he smiled in practice. If anything is ever going to help him grow up, it should be the first time he looks around and realizes that he (with GG and JS) has been in the program the longest out of everyone on the team. The senior season mindset of JJ had to wear off on some of our younger players. We need Shaq, TC, and KJ to all average around 25 minutes per game imo and hands down lead the team in that category.

He also needs to work on adjusting his line drive shot. He has no touch at all and that's something he needs to correct or he might as well join the volleyball team.

Maybe, but I think TC and KJ are going to be putting up a good amount of shots from the guard spots this year. Add Sanders and Shaq and I'm starting to think we'll have enough guys willing to take shots after all.
