His athleticism and exploseness really shows on this video. I'll tell you something else. He has a very good handle for a kid his size too.

The skill set and god given body is extremely intriguing. If he puts it all together he could do great things.

Cronin hasn't always been able to get those he targeted. But there is no question he can evaluate talent. Ellis has a chance to be special, along with Shaq Thomas and Sanders.

Don't forget Jeremiah Davis. He was a highly rated player until he took his time with his recruitment and some teams found other players instead. He is going to be a good one.

By far Micks best class. It's not just the players. It's the type of player. All self motivated and they play hard.

Think of the athleticism you're putting on the court. JJ, Dixon, Cash, Ellis, Gaines, Guyn, Gates Thomas.

Sean, Sanders, Davis, and Parker aren't bad either.

And let's just hope we see steady improvement out of these kids in their 4 years here!

They will improve as long as they are willing to work at it. These kids have more inherent ability than the seniors we have right now but they will have to apply themselves.

If they aren't willing to work at it will it also be the players fault or will it be the coach's fault?

It's on the players IMO. I think the coaching staff has done a good job up to this point. The players have to want to be good and get better.

ME80;27349 I would tend to agree with you on the current crop but if we see the same going forward you will have to start raising questions about the coaching.[/QUOTE said:
I think thats fair. The coaching staff gets a pass for the first 2 recruiting classes as there wasn't enough time to build up relationships. After this though, you have to shift the onus onto the coaching staff. If you look at the players that have let the Cats down in their 3 losses, it the seniors (Thomas, Bishop). Overall, the underclassmen have been consistent. This gives me hope for the future.

Dixon is the perfect example of one who has improved. Had a rough 2nd year but came back strong. Actually Dixon is one player who actually goes toward proving JasonS' quote about it being up to the player.

When things were going great this year, I was one that wasn't convinced yet. While I believed the Cat's would be better this year, I wasn't so convinced that the senior class had "all the light bulbs" come on. I heard comments like "best defense in America" etc, and I felt that people had gone too far in their expectations. What's the old saying on baseball players, something like "eventually they play to the stats at the back of their baseball cards"

i kinda agree i hate to say this but i think these seniors are kind of holding us back a bit as you said thomas mainly. if you look at it frosh-juniors are a huge part of this team and they are the ones with the mentality we need. the future is truly bright

anyone have any idea how he is doing this year? i tried to find box scores on his games to no avail. even maxpreps would have boxscores and would only have the other teams reported and not his high school's.

I think the coaches have to update their own stats on maxpreps so that is no surprise really. I haven't really looked but I will see what I can find later tonight.

With all the talk about the other recruits in the DSL are there any updates on Ellis? Is he on campus? Havent heard much since his commitment?

He had to work out some issues with courses he took online and is currently waiting to hear back from the NCAA Clearinghouse. I do not expect this to be an issue with his eligbility...just that he submitted things late and knowing the bureaucracy with them, they will take forever to respond.
