I agree we try to make him a better person on and off the court HOWEVER these kind of things have to stop. At some point it's going to cost us in a big game and can't have that. I will say in his defense Hammons was getting away with an awful lot of chippy plays down low.

Agree - Ellis has problems. Frankly he is a punk. That was a punk play and he does it over and over. Every single one of you would be calling him a punk if his uniform said anything other than Cincinnati.

The only reason I'd let him play is that his teammates need him and it wouldn't be fair to the players he has already let down (on multiple occasions). Deberry should 100% get the start though. He's earned it.

I'm well aware of his background, but when does it stop being an excuse? He's gotten kicked off the team once for multiple incidents and has now gotten kicked out of 3 games in one season. He doesn't deserve any more leash. One more incident and he should be gone. Problem is that will definitely happen next season which will leave his teammates hanging once again.

I agree LongH. He's had some very tough events in his life, but you can't always use that as an excuse for everything or you will never get better. I hope he gets help and I agree he should not start this next game.

No doubt. LH acts like Ellis knocked out a family member. Kicking him off would do the guy no good whatsoever. That would be the easy thing to do. I hope with the resources that UC has, Ellis is able to take advantage of this opportunity and continue to do deal with his issues. Quite frankly, was his mother's murder tragic? Yes it was. But at some point Ellis has to move on from it. He can't use it as an excuse and let it define who he is. Period.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying kick him off, but he needs an incredibly short leash. It seems that few people had issues with kicking Strickland off the team because he didn't "buy in" as well as Morman, yet a guy like Ellis who has let this team down on numerous occassion is off limits. I'm assuming if Ellis was a bench player others wouldn't be so against kicking him off. I can't recall, was everyone against kicking him off the team after the X brawl?

There are multiple issues here. Forget the bad attitude and the fact that he is going to seriously injure someone at some point. The other issue is he is completely unreliable. The biggest stage when UC needs him most and he can't even make it to the 2nd half. From a pure basketball standpoint, he continually lets the team down. Eventually enough is enough.

Also, IF he is ever kicked off the team, it doesn't mean UC/Mick can't support him anymore.

I agree with this 100%. Ellis has had attitude problems from his freshman year here and we've seen it all season... I am a fan of his and like the emotion he brings to the game. He has a lot of passion and that can be a strength, and obviously his weakness. Start DeBerry and bring him off the bench. When you throw a punch, you lose your starting role and have to win it back. Period. Does not matter if your name is Clark, Caupain, etc.

It was a forearm not a punch, but was intentional. He does need to be on a short leash regardless. It was good to see DeBerry bring him into the after game celebration.

What if punch really connected?

If it's a punch like Yancy put on Frease that's totally different... But when you lose your cool like he did, you should lose your starting position at least 1 game. It was intentional, a flagrant 2 and right in front of the ref. I've seen flagrant 2s that have been questionable calls, but last night that was worthy of being kicked out. I'm willing to bet Ellis walked over and apologized to that player after the game

Ellis was going for knockout just so happen He remembered where he was right before he connected

After watching it a bunch, it seemed as if Hammons was expecting it. It seemed like he welcomed it and walked right to it.

It was definitely a bait, I doubt Ellis apologized for this one. It wasn't right but Hammonds doesn't deserve an apology

His apology should sound like this, "Sorry Hammons for my teammates ending your season...you should have chose UC a few years ago."

Dons a pair of sunglasses and the arena drops a sick dubstep and the lights flashing like WHAT

Based on what? "Definitely" a bait? I'm sure they both were saying something to each other. Ellis talks plenty of smack each and every game.
