While it may be beneficial to UC/Memphis/UConn it weakens the league. The perception of the league is already not good, see last years selection show. You have already commented many times about the recruiting rankings of the AAC, this lower those numbers are for SMU and for the conference as a whole. Would Memphis/UC have a better shot if the NCAA put SMU on probation and Ollie went to coach in the pro's, yes, but also not good for AAC. The AAC needs to be seen as positively as possible.

The perception of the league is fine. UCONN won the National Title.

SMU will have a good team with or without him. They are getting a good player with experience in the V Tech transfer. Yes they lost a talented player but they will still be a very good team.

Stephenson inked a 3 yr, $27 mil deal with the Charlotte Hornets this morning. That should make them a pretty solid contender, with Jefferson, Kemba, and Henderson.

Eh, contender for the Eastern Conference semifinals maybe. They have a deep roster and should make the playoffs again, but it's hard to be contender without either a superstar player or a superstar coach (like Popovich). There are 4 legitimate contenders for the championship next year IMO: San Antonio, Cleveland, Oklahoma City, and the LA Clippers. No one else has the right combination of coaching and superstars to get the job done.

I guess I should reiterate: When I say "contender" I don't mean top 5 team that's got a great shot at winning it all. I mean top 10 that will make the playoffs and could make a decent run.

I gotcha. Charlotte does have 3 very good players in Stephenson, Kemba, and Jefferson. Lance and Kemba are still young, so maybe one of them will blossom into a superstar.

Also, I think Lance Stephenson compliments Kemba Walker very well in the backcourt. Walker is an explosive scorer, but is very inefficient and not the best distributor. Lance is very efficient and has better court vision and passing skills than most shooting guards.

I definitely agree with that. It will be weird having Charlotte and the Wizards as possible top 4 seeds in the East.

RT @JonRothstein: New Mexico's Merv Lindsey will transfer.

Transferred from Kansas to New Mexico. Now moving again

I can't post the link right now but I saw the article in the Enquirer. UC men's bball team is getting a 1.3 million locker room upgrade. It should be completed by November 2015. Its a completely different area of the shoe. They will come out the same side officials do. Its also a level below. They had a rough photo but it surely sounds promising. Great news in Bearcat land!!

Definitely good to hear. It makes me feel like Fifth Third will most certainly be renovated now. Why else would they put $1.3 mill into a locker room just to move downtown? Seems like moving to US Bank Arena is just getting less and less likely, which I'm personally okay with.

My thoughts exactly. $1.3 million isn't a huge sum of money, but large enough that I doubt they would make the investment without the intention of being there at least 5-10 more years. Would love for them to announce a total renovation soon.

Same. I feel like that does wonders for recruiting. Ask Tuberville and his Top 30(ish) recruiting class for 2015.
