Look at their last 5 games. They've squeaked by crappy teams every game and had to overcome huge deficits bc they struggle to defend. Plus, you're too hung up on the number in this comparison. Look at the AdjEM. About a 1 point difference over 100 possessions. That's a slim margin.

I'm not saying we should be ahead of them but just look at Kenpom as being another metric system of ranking teams. No way is Xavier the 6th best team in the country. Kenpom displays as to why. It's not the end all be all. But the analytics it uses are different than human voting polls obviously. Hence the difference in rankings.

Ok, I guess I'll give you that. I'm trying to put myself in the shoes of a Xavier fan. If the shoe was on the other foot everyone on this board would think it was assanine.
I'm all for predictive algarythyms and stats......but sometimes the common sense factor gets thrown out the window. This is apparently so in this circumstance with Kenpom.

I subscribe to Kenpom, but I agree with you, especially this early in the season. I really don't feel confident that we are better than undefeated Arizona State, who have stomped Xavier on a neutral floor and beaten Kansas on their home floor by double digitsI'm just trying to wrap my mind around the Kenpom rankings and why some people on this site swing from his nutsack.
X overcame a 16 point deficit in the second half to win. That shows they are a really good team regardless of Kenpom’s take. The how of winning can be influenced by so many factors like the fact that it is eve of New Year’s Eve or whatever. The point is do you win. When we overcome a double digit half time deficit to win a game then maybe we could talk about being as good as X. Sadly I think X is the real deal this year and their program will catch ours historically if they keep having years like this.

But come on man. They're 13-1, ranked 5th in USA today, ranked 6th in AP, and curbed stomped the shit out of us. I don't get the justification in that.
and they were ahead of us on kenpom until they started playing poorly. you can drop on kenpom even when you win. todays game they dropped because they were awful. .94 ppp at home vs depaul.
the home games vs etsu, marshall, and depaul have hurt them because they played poorly in all of them.
poll voters will just see they won and keep moving them up. that is why polls suck.

We are 41-8 since the start of last year. Florida, Rhode Island, and Butler are the only teams to beat us that we haven't also beaten. We are Top 10 in the country as we speak. Stop living in the past. An awesome team is starting you in the face right this second and you can't recognize it bc you'd rather dwell on our seed 6 years ago. Pathetic.

Without looking at schedule too closely, Arizona St kind of reminds me of the Baylor situation last year. They were #1 in the polls bc it took them a while to lose, but no one on earth believed they were the best team. I have a hard time buying Arizona St just becoming an elite team overnight. They obviously look good so far, but I wonder if a rough stretch is coming.

Regardless of current situation /rankings, and regardless of favorable draws, eggz seem to do better in the tourney. We need to beat our opponent in the tourney. I think reasonable current goal 2/5 years S-16. Then up the goal in few years. Still hoping for E-8 this year.

Lol here we go with this again. Disregard the fact of them playing teams averaging a 10 seed vs us averaging a 4 (or whatever it actually is im just saying), they just seem to win more.
