I'll put money on this starting 5:

PG Troy
SG Cobb
SF Shaq
PF Clark
C Ellis

Our bench is solid and we could sub in and out regularly: DeBerry, KJ, Jenifer, Evans and Scott. Moore should be last off the bench. Troy is starting and I don't see anything changing that. Hopefully Jenifer is talented and contributes right away, but playing well in a scrimmage isn't enough to take our experienced starting point guard's spot. If he is as good as he appears to be then he'll play and find the minutes. I hope he competes and pushes Caupain to be an even better player. They'll be going at each other every single day in practice and it will only make both players better.

I think tc goes to Mick and ask be moved off ball. We really can't go 3 guard with jenifer, troy and Cobb. We a get killed on boards

This.

Why is Clark automatically starting over deberry? I'm type that every year every position is up for grabs

In today's college basketball landscape, I think you have to recruit offense, and teach defense, not the other way around. For Mick's era, he has recruited athletes who were limited offensively, but who he could drive defense down their throats and turn them into a defensive machine. That became our niche and it gave us winning seasons and an annual trip to the dance....and occasionally got us ranked in the Top 25. Kentucky played great defense last year, but they were very talented offensively as well. That combination puts you in the national championship conversation every year. A one-dimensional team gets you knocked out in the first or second round every year.

We all love good defense, but we will never be truly "relevant" with defense-only. There has to be a balance. We may have to sacrifice some defense to upgrade our offense and have the ability to win by out-scoring teams and/or shutting them down defensively. Based on past recruiting, it's pretty obvious that the great offensive players have very little interest in coming here and having defense shoved down their throats.

Listen as a true sophomore Troy was our best and most important player last year on a team that advanced to the round of 32. He was number one in minutes played, number one in assists, number 1 in free throw percentage, number 1 in three pt percentage and was just barley number two in scoring behind ellis. He is a great pg and fantastic floor general at 6'4'', and is our go to go a the end of games. He will again lead our team in minutes played and will be our point guard and him and octavius will be the leaders and best two players. This is not even debatable right now troy is running this team and the show for the next two years and i couldnt be more happy about it. And listen this team without jenifer made it to the round of 32, now everyone is back and STRONGER and will resume there same roles just as improved players. Heres the breakout we have 4 guards... 3 of which are experienced in big games, played big roles in games, and play great defense. Troy and cobb will both average double figures IMO as farrod is going to have a great season...improved every aspect of his game (might be just me but he reminds me a bit of russ smith...more controlled tho). Next off the bench is is the strongest toughest defending guard of them all in kevin johnson. Now jennifer will get some minutes this year and will be a great great player here but look this isnt high school basketball anymore and against big time teams the height and quickness of those guys will be an adjustment for him as he wont be able to weave thru as easy as he did in high school same thing defensively. This team is experienced with good PROVEN players. Troy and cobb will be a great back court this year, with Kj spelling them and then some jenifer at splashes. But in my book jenifer clearly sees the least minutes of the four guards and evans the other freshamn sees more minutes than him just becuase less depth there. I do not understand why some rip troy, our best player last year. Rewatch that uconn game or that purdue game i mean come on this is ridiculous...troy was really good last year as underclassman now as a junior he will continue to grow into a great player. A few months ago his stats were being compared to steve logon. Bottom line is jennifer is great big big time pick up and im pumped about his future, but troy cobb and kj will all see more minutes than him in big games

I'm only worried bout scoring coming from wings. Shaq needs become unstoppable slasher

I agree with this. If nothing else, practicing with Jenifer will force Caupain to dribble a little lower and tighten up his ball handling.

We have 200 minutes to go around. And a million different lineups we can go with, without much of a drop off. The guys who produce won't get buried on the bench. Good news is, in 1 week we will get a great look at the team in a real exhibition game!

If jenifer wowed everybody against the best defensive team in country I betting he can hold his own against the rest of AAC. He played against guys in HIGH PROFILE tournaments that's better than our players and held his own. I'll take some of his high school all star teams over our team. Troy, Cobb, Johnson wouldn't be locks to make some of top high school camps right now

yea. The starting PG is going to go to the coach and say...Hey, Move me to the 2. I want less playing time and I dont have confidence in myself to run this team. Yep, thats 100% not happening. any more genius insight?

Clark is a lock at the four...one he is a stud and will average close to a double double. Two if deberry starts we have no back up center to bring in off the bench now I understand he can sub clark in for deberry then later debery for ellis but i just dont see anyway mick would start his only two centers.

Damn u be making sense. Like how u don't play favoritism with players. Shaq my favorite on team but I'll bench his ass quick for better players

How less playing time? Your giving away minutes based on what? It's minutes for everybody. We don't have not one star spread wealth around

Has Mick came out and said troy is going to lead team this year. Everytime I hear him talk recently it's all about pushing pace and jenifer. Mick doesn't hold back on praising players and I haven't heard him talking tc

Deberry was also a liability on defense, but you knew that considering youre a defensive guy

The entire team was defensive liabilities. Heard he had like 5 block in scrimmage though. I'm taking more out of us playing against each other than some cupcakes also so please don't say it was only scrimmage. Our 2nd unit should be better than any cupcakes
