Lorenzen is seen as our 2nd or 3rd best starting pitching prospect. Relieved and played OF in college so a little new to starting. Has put up pretty darn good numbers since pitching down on the farm. The Reds see him as a middle of the rotation guy.

Ok thanks. Sounds like a good athlete.

Is Mesoraco ever coming back? I don't understand what they're doing there. I know they probably won't DL him now since he has pinch hit, but damn. He's killing a roster spot on my fantasy team. I can't do anything with him. And I'm not sure why the Reds want to play with 24 players either.

Mesoraco has something similar to a hip pointer. When he squats to catch a piece of the bone is poking into his hip muscle. Will heal by itself. And Lorenzen could have been a ML OF he hit .352 with 7 HRs 50+ RBI and 10+ SB

I'm in the same situation, driving me crazy!

Saw a tweet this morning that Walt said it will be another 7-10 days before he can catch due to the squatting issue. Apparently the school of thought now is, we have 2 series coming up where we will need a DH and he can hit still.

Former Northwood star begins professional baseball career ...

Zack Weiss six round from UCLA really caught my eye during some games at the minor spring games and look at his stats. Off the charts. Look on mlb minor league aa reds.

This is such a joke. Mesoraco isn't the DH in game 1?

The Reds are a joke. They should shut Mesoraco down. Actually they should've shut him down the second he was hurting. Bright young star risking further injury to pinch hit every third game is just dumb. Saving him to DH in a few games? Long term I think Mesoraco might need to be moved to a different position if possible. He's too injury prone and plays the most grueling position. I kind of get the feeling this will be a lost year for Mesoraco. At least Kevin Gregg continues to be available every night...

Don't forget about Marquis...the innings eater extraordinaire.

At the game tonight! Let's go Cueto!

Go smack Yordano Ventura for me, he's hurting me in three of my four fantasy leagues.

KC is one of the stadiums I haven't been to. Trying to get to them all. Crossing off Toronto next month, will be I believe my 23rd MLB stadium I've watched a game in.

Ha I just traded Billy Hamilton and Ventura for Tyson Ross in one of my leagues.

Wow, 23 is a ton. I haven't been to anywhere near that many but I like to take advantage when I can. Kauffman is beautiful. Hopefully the rain holds off!

I've heard Kauffman is really nice. I've seen it from the outside.

I haven't given up on Ventura yet. I turned down some good offers for him. Starting him against Cueto was about a sure thing the way we like to give him no run support. Hopefully last night was the start of something good from him.

I witnessed a scoreless inning by JJ Hoover! I bet no one on this board has ever done that before!!!

Hoover has actually been very good. Last 12 appearances 11.1 IP 4 H 0 runs 4 BB & 9 k's. Hasn't given up a run since April 21. Overall ERA is 2.65.

Even though the MRI came back clean, is that something that could hurt our return in a deadline trade with Cueto? Or will it not matter since he'd just be a rental anyway? I wouldn't mind starting to see some trades soon. This team is a train wreck. But hey, at least Marquis is keeping us in contention for a top pick.

They should've traded Cueto in the offseason. I don't know how they thought they would contend this year and his trade value coming off his last year's numbers would give him more value than a midseaon trade. Allowing him to pitch this year just risks injury and/or worse numbers that drop his value. He's actually pitched well, but now he's got an injury scare. Teams don't give up as much typically at the deadline. You can get prospects, but you're less likely to get major-league ready players. They could've gotten young, cheap major league ready players this offseason and started the rebuilding process. Signing Byrd was dumb too. Should've gone younger. I know it's hard to admit what you did is wrong and isn't working but the sooner they cut bait from this team they built and the contracts they gave and rebuild the better they will be. To go into this season hanging on thinking this team was going to be good was just delaying the inevitable longer.

And they better hope like hell Cueto comes back and can pitch strong. They better hope he is absolutely 100% and hope there are no lingering issues. If he needs to miss another start to ensure that then they need to do that. They absolutely have to trade him by the deadline and he's such a great player they need at least three prospects that will be major league ready within two years with at least one being a can't miss type of guy. Hopefully there is that type of market for him.
