Think they have some good young prospects that would offer much more upside but they have not pitched enough innings to get through a whole year. Truly believe you'll see different pitchers starting throughout year. Also if team is out of race Cueto and Leake will both be moved at deadline

Ha well if Marquis is in there, you can count on being out of the race.

I can't understand how a Major League team is at the point where Jason Marquis will start in the first series of the season.

@AceballStats
#Reds Joey Votto had more than twice as many BB (47) as Brandon Phillips (23) in 2014. Votto played nearly half as many games as Phillips.

Votto had more than ANYONE on the team until the last week of the season. People can blame Votto for whatever they want, thats fine, but when noone on your team has 50 walks for an entire season, you have to think thats a giant problem.

BP was top 5 in the league in outs made 6 of the last 8 years. Another problem

Miguel Cabrera, the best hitter in the game, is a .230 hitter with a .404 slugging when he swings at balls out of the zone. Point being, it doesnt matter how good you are, swinging at a pitch out of the zone does not guarantee a runner to advance or a run to score. But continuing the inning and getting a fresh count gives you a MUCH better chance.

From MLBTradeRumors

-Chris Dominguez, Brennan Boesch, Ivan De Jesus and Irving Falu are all competing for the Reds‘ final bench spots, writes MLB.com’s Mark Sheldon, and each has performed well in Spring Training. Manager Bryan Price also noted that the rotation isn’t yet settled. Anthony DeSclafani, Jason Marquis and Raisel Iglesias are all in the mix for the final two spots, and Price explained how his club is looking beyond statistics to determine who will fill those roles. In general, he spoke very highly of DeSclafani, so it seems likely that he’ll be in the rotation to open the year.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bailey replaces Marquis when he returns...I forget the exact quote from Price, but what I inferred from it was that the Reds will consider taking a chance on the younger arms more this year compared to past...hope my prediction is correct, but I don't want Bailey rushing back...
Go Reds!

I think this is everyones wish. Noone wants Marquis, except the rest of the NL central

I find myself becoming less and less excited for the season as we get closer to opening day. The roster WJ has assembled is very disheartening and doesn't bode well for run scoring.

I will always cheer on my Redlegs but these past few seasons under WJ have not been very exciting.

Marquis won't be around when Homer Bailey is ready. Look for Cueto to be dealt at deadline when his stock his highest and Robert Stephenson will be brought up. Also don't be surprised is BP is shopped to see what they can get. It's not going to be a very good year I look for the Reds to finish 4th in the division 3rd at best.

Read where Marquis is here to stay and Iglesias moves to pen or to Louisville when Bailey returns. Agree Cueto will not be signed and likely traded at deadline.

My one serious hope for this season is that Cueto is his usual Allstar self and is good enough to start the allstar game in Cincy this year, just like Matt Harvey did in NYC a few years ago. That would give this city something to really cheer for.

Lorenzen is seen as our 2nd or 3rd best starting pitching prospect. Relieved and played OF in college so a little new to starting. Has put up pretty darn good numbers since pitching down on the farm. The Reds see him as a middle of the rotation guy.
